2 Abuse is a difficult subject for any young person to talk about. Fortunately, the caring professionals at the Kristen French Child Advocacy Centre Niagara (Kristen French CACN) are committed to making the life of a child or youth who has experienced abuse a little bit easier. The Kristen French CACN is a safe place to help, heal and end child abuse for Niagara s children and youth who have been physically abused, sexually abused, become the targets of internet luring or were the unwilling witness to violence. As a registered charitable organization the Centre serves all 12 municipalities, providing our region with a trauma-informed leading practice approach to the investigation and treatment of child abuse. Before the Niagara Region had the Kristen French CACN, children and youth were subjected to multiple interviews at multiple locations. Kristen French Child Advocacy Centre Niagara 8 Forster Street, St. Catharines ON L2N 1Z Opened in 2008, our home-like Centre is child-focused and a family s privacy is always respected. Children speak about their experience of abuse to specially trained teams that investigate and conduct forensic interviews. These video recorded interviews are proven to be effective in gathering valuable information to help both the child and the justice system. Counselling is provided at no cost, and without a wait list. Kristen French CACN partners with the Niagara Regional Police Service, Family and Children s Services Niagara and Family Counselling Centre Niagara, helping children and families cope with the life altering impacts of child abuse. Since opening, over 2100 children and their families have found a safe place to disclose abuse at the Centre.

3 What is Kids Golfing for Kids? In 2016, the Kristen French CACN will once again partner with the Niagara Junior Golf Tour (NJT) to host our 7th Annual Kids Golfing for Kids fundraiser. The NJT is an annual series of 10 tournaments featuring the best junior golfers from across the region. Throughout the season, these young golfers raise pledges and awareness in support of the Kristen French CACN to help Niagara s most vulnerable citizens - children and youth who have experienced abuse. The Kristen French CACN operates without any core government funding and relies greatly on our signature, annual fundraiser Kids Golfing for Kids, which has raised close to $195,000 in the past six years. Over 90% of those funds directly supports the Centre, ensuring child victims in Niagara receive the support they need to heal and thrive. The Kristen French CACN is incredibly grateful to be the designated charity of the NJT. The Centre is fortunate to be part of the Niagara community and have such compassionate sponsors, donors, volunteers and partners.

Newspaper accounts bring home the stark reality that child sexual abuse, physical abuse and sexual exploitation over the internet happens everywhere, including Niagara. There is no stereotype. Abuse ignores all boundaries. Children and youth, along with their non-offending caregivers, have been met by a caring team of professionals that work together, helping to reduce the trauma of disclosure and to provide continuing support.
