3 ABOUT CHILDREN S MIRACLE NETWORK The mission of Children s Miracle Network is to generate funds and awareness programs for the benefit of children and its member hospitals. One hundred percent of the funds raised are used to help children in the High Plains Region. Your support of Children's Miracle Network helps ensure that children have the specialized care they need and deserve. Children's Miracle Network is the largest children s charity organization in the United States. Every year, Children's Miracle Network hospitals treat 17 million children for every disease and injury imaginable. Children's Miracle Network hospitals impact the lives of more children than any other children's organization in the world. Children's hospitals provide state-of-the-art care, life-saving research and preventative education for children 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. There is a Children's Miracle Network hospital dedicated to serving children in every community across the United States and Canada. These hospitals are committed to providing the best care for children when they need it. Amarillo s Children s Miracle Network: Mission: To help improve the quality of children s healthcare. An international, non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality of children s healthcare Works to establish premier children s healthcare facilities at Children s Miracle Network Hospitals throughout the United States Provides funding for pediatric and neonatal equipment, continuing education, and patient services 100 percent of the money raised stays local 100 percent of donations go to help kids! Not to cover administrative expenses! How? BSA Health System underwrites the expenses of the local Children s Miracle Network office. In the Amarillo area since 1985 Serves Amarillo, Texas and the 26 surrounding counties Annually, funding from Children s Miracle Network is used to support: - Over 180 babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit - Over 1,000 babies and children in Pediatrics - Over 220 baibies and children in Pediatrics Intensive Care - Financial grants to more than 50 families - Continuing education for ICU Nurses page 2

4 INTRODUCTION LETTER INTRODUCTION LETTER The inspiration for this event came about in May of 2005, with the birth of Thomas Bo Boyce Lynch, who was born with a rare and currently untreatable seizure disorder. He spent the first two months of his life in the Children s Miracle Network (CMN) supported Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at the Baptist St. Anthony s Hospital of Amarillo. Inspired by the compassion of the CMN telethon and the amazing impact CMN was able to make in their lives, the Lynches and their friends, through a letter writing campaign, sought sponsorship to participate in a charity triathlon in McKinney, Texas, raising just over $23,000 for CMN of Amarillo. Motivated by their efforts, CMN board members and volunteers have worked tirelessly to provide Amarillo and the Panhandle community with a similar event: The Lake Tanglewood: Tri to Make a Difference Sprint Triathlon, which to date has raised over $250, % of the proceeds raised from this event benefit the Panhandle s sick and needy children. Bringing the Triathlon home to Lake Tanglewood allowed our community, as well as local and regional businesses, to participate in this faith inspiring event. Thomas Bo Boyce Lynch page 3

5 EVENT GOALS EVENT GOALS Ensure that one hundred cents of every dollar raised is used to enrich the lives of children with special needs in the Neonatal and Pediatric Intensive care units of Baptist Saint Anthony s Hospital. To raise $75,000 to purchase much needed equipment for the neonatal and pediatric intensive care units at BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas. Raise awareness and funds for the Children s Miracle Network. Increase the number of individuals who support and volunteer for the Children s Miracle Network. Improve the safety and quality of life for the residents of Lake Tanglewood by providing an opportunity for racers and spectators to support the Tanglewood Volunteer Fire Department through tips and additional donations during our cookout celebration. Promote physical health and fitness while raising a sense of community in Amarillo and surrounding areas. Promote the sports of triathlon, swimming, cycling, and running in the Texas Panhandle. page 4

8 God s Plan As I awoke from a deep, deep sleep, God s hand was there upon my cheek. Angels were everywhere as I looked around, White clouds covered the walls from ceiling to ground. Tubes and lines were connected to me, God had told me this is the way it should be. I know not how I got to this place, It must have been by God s grace! Please don t be sad as you look at me, For I m God s child as I will always be. Mom and dad come and go, to them my healing must seem slow. God s plan is in action for all to see, What greater glory can I bring to Thee? As the doctors and nurses work on me, Each understand God is the key.
