The Varsity baseball team is looking to build on their playoff run last year. They currently have a 6-2 record and are ranked second in the ICSGA South Region. There are many returning players that include seniors Zarren Riley and Angel Marrero. Also returning is junior Taylor Martin and sophomores Torrey Bryant, Manny Burgos, and Justin Barnett. The team has worked extremely hard this season and has pushed through many adversities, such as weather conditions or injuries. Newcomers to the team are junior CJ Dunnum, sophomore Christian Beckham, and freshman Max Hall. There is also a new head coach, Jeff Mitchell, who played college baseball at Atlanta Christian College, now Point University. The Middle School has returned to the field after taking a year off due to a lack of players, but this year about sixteen young men came out and showed interest. This growth and success is due to the new coach Rich Day s recruiting and determination to have a team. Of the sixteen new players, eighth graders Marcell Gleaton and Luke Campbell play on both the Middle School and Varsity teams. We are very excited to see our baseball program continue to grow and the young Knights are coming off of their first win defeating Griffin Christian on April 9th. 4 High School Soccer The reigning champions of ICSGA boys soccer are Varsity Boys having another great start to the season and will hopefully add another title. Returning coaches Brian Wilson and Rick Reim are very proud of last year s team, but are working hard with the boys this year to win the Championship again. The team currently has a winning record of 5 and 1. There are many new additions to the team this year. This includes four freshman and one 8 th grader who have bonded well with the upper classmen and have worked hard to earn their spot on the field. We are all very excited to see where the boys will go this season! Coached by Michael Varsity Girls Lynch and Whitney Smith, the Lady Knights have great potential this season. After playing for various professional clubs in England, Michael Lynch moved to the United States and currently coaches ODP (Olympic Development Program) and Thunder, a club soccer league in Henry County. Coach Whitney says that this season will be a great learning experience for her as a coach. The Varsity girls record currently stands at 5-3, and Coach Michael has high hopes for the team this season. Coach Mike is tough, but it s good for us to be pushed. It helps us get better as a team, says senior Emily Taylor. We are expecting great things from the girls this season! GO KNIGHTS! Articles by Kelsey Campbell

Middle School Boys Coached by Matt Cagle and former CCS soccer players Garret Cooper and Joel Entrekin, the soccer team has started this year off with a winning season and play very well together. The boys are arguably a force to be reckoned with when they step onto the field. Come out and support the boys at their next home game against Dominion Christian at 5:00 on Thursday, April 18 th! Middle School girls The Middle School girls have also started out successfully being coached by Rebekah Dingess. The younger girls often spend some of their practices with the Varsity girls soccer team. Eighth grader Cali Page says, I like practicing with the older girls. They re all really good and they teach us a lot! These young girls have great potential and we cannot wait to see where they will go this year! Come out and support the Middle School girls at their next home game on April 18 th at 4:00 against Dominion Christian. Go Knights! Article by Kelsey Campbell

Track and Field Article by CCS Media Team This season of CCS Track and Field has taken off with a great start! There is a middle and high school team, with over 30 high school participants. The middle school girls were able to place 2nd in their first meet! The track and field team has participated in four meets so far. However, none of these meets qualify competitors for state. The region meet is April 22 at Mill Springs Academy in Alpharetta. Coach Dave Wilkerson is very impressed with the growth of the track and field team compared to last year. With the growth, there is a higher possibility of having more competitors qualify for the GISA State Championship. Last year, three CCS student athletes qualified, and CCS is looking to build on that success.

Georgia Day Community Christian School s fourth grade students have been working rigorously on their Georgia Notebook projects. On Friday, March 15th, each student had the opportunity to choose something about Georgia that interests them. They had to research the topic of interest and prepare a presentation to display for peers, parents, and teachers. The kids compiled their own monologue and personalized tri-board to display in the upper atrium. The participating students worked diligently and were enthusiastic throughout the entire process. Elementary March 22nd Kite Day

Father Daughter Dance 2013 Photos: Reagan Langston On Friday, March 22nd, many of the CCS elementary girls and their fathers came together for the 2013 Father Daughter Dance. It was a night filled with fun and enjoyed by all who attended. The food, dance and bonding creates many memories for the girls and their fathers. They cannot wait for next year s dance! March 30 th 2013 Eggstravaganza The last weekend of March was packed full of opportunities for people of all ages to hear the life-changing message of Easter. On Saturday, March 30th, Community Bible Church had its annual Easter Eggstravaganza. Every year hundreds of families show up and hunt for over 50,000 eggs that were donated by members of the church. Anticipation builds as attendants await Mr. and Mrs. Easter Bunny s arrival in a helicopter. Not only is this a fun experience for children and their families, it is also an opportunity to fellowship and learn about the story of Jesus Christ. The Eggstravaganza was preceded by Good Friday service on March 29th and followed by Easter Sunday service on March 31st. Easter is a time of hope and renewal. Community is a place where people can experience that hope and renewal through the power of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Article By: Virginia Clark

Elementary Spelling Bee Judged by Mrs. Vance and Ms. Paino, first through fifth graders took their turn at the microphone at the CCS Elementary Spelling Bee. Mrs. Brooks, the "caller of words, tested the spelling abilities of two students from each class. Though all the participants put in their most valiant effort, in the end there was only one winner from each grade. Winners: 1st Grade: QJ Elmore (Mrs. Ball's class) 2nd Grade: Eres David (Mrs. Brewer's class) 3rd Grade: Kadyn Tong (Mrs. Smith's class) 4th Grade: Cameron Cagle (Mrs. McKee's class) 5th Grade: Brendan Hill (Mrs. Corley's class) Literary Meet Young Americans Christian School hosted its first literary meet on March 15. This event tests the comprehension, writing, and reading skills, as well as musical and dramatic talents of students. CCS had the opportunity to send five students to this year s meet: Chris Campbell for argumentative essays, Raven Warner for analytical essays, Kelyn Liberty for personal essays, Ekaterina Hood for spelling, and Jake Thorn for piano. Despite being a small team, CCS placed 2nd in the overall meet! Chris, Raven, Kelyn, and Jake received first place in their categories and Ekaterina placed second. We are so proud of all of our students and cannot wait to see what our students can accomplish next year! Article by: Draven Brennan

Tales of Terror On March 22nd and 23rd, the CCS drama department hosted their annual spring production. This year s play was Night Chills: Tales of Terror. Within the show are four distinct stories that are all based on four specific works of famous poet and author, Edgar Allan Poe: Tell-Tale Heart, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Murders on the Rue Morgue, and The Purloined Letter. Jonathan Irby, the director, and the students all worked very hard to accurately portray the legendary tales of Edgar Allan Poe and give everyone a great show. Article by Kiara Butler It was a true blessing to be able to portray stories from a classic writer, Edgar Allan Poe. The students really enjoyed themselves and enjoyed the challenge of trying to grasp the crazy characters of Poe. - Director, Mr. Irby
