1 g Dear Coach, 2309 S. Kansas Ave. P.O. Box 348 Newton, Kansas Phone: (316) Fax: (316) Website: Enclosed, please find your schedule and other information for the 2013 Davenport MAYB Tournament. We are glad you are able to attend and hope you have a great time. Below are a few items to remember when attending the event: GAMES ARE SCHEDULED ON THE HOUR. We need to keep the games on time for everyone s convenience. Warm-ups and half times will be cut if needed to get the schedules back on time. Please be understanding if this needs to be put into action. ARRIVE AT GYMS EARLY. Showing up for games late can result in forfeits. We want the games played on the court but if you are not there we have few options. Please call if you have an unforeseen problem occur on the way to gyms. If you do not know where you are going, plan ahead and leave early! SCHEDULES CANNOT BE CHANGED. We have tried to meet as many special requests as we can. There were a few teams that did not want to play Friday night. We honored that request but it will make a long day on Saturday. Sunday hours will be packed with games as well but we should have everyone out by late afternoon. ALL SPECTATORS AND COACHES MUST SHOW PASSES. When entering a gym, be aware you will have to show your pass to enter. If you lose it, you will be asked to pay again. You will be asked to show it when entering every gym. OUT OF CONTROL BEHAVIOR WILL RESULT IN REMOVAL FROM THE TOURNAMENT. There is no excuse for verbally attacking refs, gym directors, other teams, players or anyone! Any punches thrown by players will result in their removal from the tournament. Fans and parents can cause your team to be removed from the tournament. There are many great teams and players at the tournament. Every team hopes to win. Obviously, that will not happen. Competition can bring out the best and the worst in anyone. Let it be the best instead of the other option during the entire tournament! Thanks for participating and we hope you have a great event! Sincerely, Al Carlson Davenport MAYB Area Director Cell Number: alcarlson43@gmail.com Please Visit to make sure you have the most up to date schedule!! College and Davenport Central gyms are located next to each other within walking distance College of Chiropractic
2 2013 Davenport, IA MAYB Summer Tournament Regulations and Guidelines 1. All teams are guaranteed 5 scheduled games. 2. Regulation High School Activities Association rules will be followed with the following exceptions: 20 minute running clock except for last 2 minutes of the game, unless one team is ahead by more than 15 points. If ahead by 15 points, the clock continues to run through all dead balls. If lead falls below 15 points, clock will again stop on dead balls. In addition, clock will stop on all technical fouls, injuries or timeouts (including officials TO). Clock does not restart until it would in a normal dead ball situation. 3-minute halftime and 5 minute pre-game warm-up unless games are running behind. Game time is forfeit time. We recommend jerseys with numbers on front and back. No number restrictions exist. 3 timeouts per game, no 30-second timeouts. 3. No locker rooms, balls, etc will be provided. 4. Individual awards for 1 st, 2 nd and 3 rd place in each age group provided there are at least six teams n a bracket. 5. Players may play on only one team within a tournament age group. Players may play up in an older age group.. 6. Each team is required to provide a scorekeeper or clock operator for each game. We have had great success with this. It is harder to yell at your own person, but please do not put kids in this situation. It is unfair to them if adults are yelling at them! 7. Inappropriate behavior will not be tolerated!!! A referee may remove players from the game or tournament for inappropriate behavior. We are here for the kids. Do not allow or condone poor sportsmanship. This includes coaches and parents! 8. Referee may stop clock with reason. Intentionally wasting time to shorten the game can be punished with a technical foul. This does not mean a team can t use a delay offense at any time they choose. They simply can t tell players to not line up for free throws or sub 1 player at a time to run the clock. 9. No food or drinks allowed in tournament facilities unless otherwise noted. 10. Tiebreaker procedure is as follows: Best records Head to Head competition Point Differentials (Max of 13 points) Coin Flip 11. Overtimes will be 2 minutes in length with regular clock operation. The clock stops on all dead balls. One time-out per team in overtime. No regulation carry-over time-outs will be allowed. The first and second Overtime will be two (2) minutes stop time. All divisions will begin overtimes with a coin toss. If necessary, the third overtime will be sudden death. Sudden death overtime will also begin with a coin toss. 12. Each tournament team will be given two coaches passes per team.
3 13. Our first and primary goal remains to give all players maximum court time to improve their game in a competitive setting. 14. Admission for fans will be $11 for a weekend pass. Daily passes will be sold for $6 for adults and $5 for students in K-12 grades. 15. TECHNICAL FOULS Technical fouls: Two shots and the ball. Any player or coach receiving two technical fouls in a game for unsportsmanship like behavior will be excused from further competition that day. In the event a coach is ejected from the game, he/she is required to leave the gym! NO EXCEPTIONS! No standing in doorways! 16. SPORTSPERSONSHIP All teams are expected to display excellent sportsmanship toward the other teams and tournament officials. Habitual violators will be removed from the tournament and/or be denied entry to future tournaments sponsored MAYB. Any parent, fan or associate, of any given team exhibiting behavior not conducive to sportsmanship will be required to leave the facility at the request of the site director. The tournament director reserves the right to excuse coaches, players or fans from the tournament in its entirety for behavior deemed detrimental! This rule is not based on number of technical pt. Shot Three (3) point shots will count in all age divisions. 18. GAME/WARM-UP BALL (S) The referee will be solely responsible for selecting the game ball utilized during play. All teams must bring their own warm-up balls. 19. HOME TEAM - First team listed in pool play or Top Team listed in the brackets is the home team. 20. IMPORTANT NOTICE, PLEASE READ ALL TEAMS MUST PRESENT PROOF OF AGE OR GRADE, IF REQUESTED AT ANYTIME BY TOURNAMENT DIRECTOR OR SITE COORDINATOR TO SETTLE A DISPUTE. ANY TEAM FOUND IN VIOLATION OF THE GRADE RULE WILL BE DISQUALIFIED AND ALL GAMES PLAYED WILL BE FORFEITIED.
