Keynote Speaker Michael Seaton Director, Digital Marketing & Trade at Canada Post Michael will help set a foundational knowledge of Big Data and help you discover what it really is, where it came from and how to harness its power. Cut through the hype with a pragmatic context for 9:00-9:30 a.m. 9:30-10:00 a.m. 10:00-11:30 a.m. Participant Discussion Morning Nutrition Break Real Examples: Using Social Tools to Deliver Better Health Care 1. Bob Ransom Social Media in Health: Canadian Style Bob will review the basic decisions you will have to make and will help you understand the ramifications of using social media. The presentation will look at what hospitals and health organizations are doing now, their approach, and how they deliver value in contrast to why patients are using social media and whom they trust. Bob will also overview the many uses for social media in healthcare, and the Canadian Health Hashtag Project. 2. Dr. Sanjeev Goel Sanjeev and his colleagues have been embedding social media tools within the care of their patients since These technology tools are now exploding across Ontario and transforming the way health care providers collaborate amongst themselves and with their patients Why the use of social media is a next step in the evolution of health care How social media needs to be adapted to be successful and relevant in health care How does adoption occur? The role of the patient centered tools and PHR in social media. Anticipating the new trends beyond social media - "Quantified Self" and "The Internet of Things" and how it all ties together. 3. Ash Damle Sense- making the Digitization of Health data and Hyper- personalized care Using Probabilistic Graph- based Big Analytics Ash will demonstrate through a case study approach how the problem with digitization of health data can be accessed and systematically applied the relevant best medical science within provider workflows. Ash will demonstrate how using real- time graph- based big analytics can be used to make sense of small data to deliver hyper- personalized care. At an individual level, graph analytics allows for highly predictive acute differentials, chronic risk profiles, care actions, and health indicators. At a population level, these analytics aggregated and, in- conjunction with the human- to- human graph analytics, can provide new actionable insight. 2

As we move towards a future of big data in health care, Cheryl will discuss how the use of big data can be leveraged to influence and improve lifestyle behaviors. Cheryl will also explore the impact that social media can have on health outcomes when big data begins to provide population profiles of high- risk members of a community. 5 PROFESSIONAL BIOGRAPHIES Ash Damle Ash is a global entrepreneur and technologist who is deeply rooted in the application of big data to health, energy, and retail and it s intersection with design. Ash graduated from Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in both Computer Science and Mathematics, has numerous papers, and has received patents in real- time unstructured semantic analysis. Throughout his career, he has looked for opportunities to apply big data, machine learning, and big analytics. He has worked with the MIT Media Lab, MIT, U.S. Navy, California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation, law enforcement agencies, power production and distribution, retailers such as Jcrew, Oakley, and many others in developing web- scale big data and big analytics solutions. Currently, Ash is CEO and founder of MEDgle, a big health analytics engine focused on Dr. Sanjeev Goel Dr. Sanjeev Goel is the founder of Health Quality Innovation Collaborative, a not for profit dedicated to embedding the age of networked intelligence into healthcare. In the rest of his waking hours, he is the lead physician for Wise Elephant Family Health Team in Brampton, Ontario and the Physician Lead for Chronic Disease Management and Prevention and Cancer Care for his region. He is also working as a rehab hospitalist at William Osler Health System and is a Coroner for the Region of Peel. Cheryl Hertel Cheryl Hertel, vice president, Population Health, is responsible for Cerner strategies and market direction related to community continuum of care venues including connected network and interoperability, extended care including long term care, assisted living, home care and retail pharmacy, consumer and member health and wellness engagement, and research. Hertel joined Cerner in 1996, managing clinical design strategy for emergency medicine development followed by an expanded role to enterprise practice leader, responsible for all emergency medicine client engagements on the Cerner Classic and Cerner Millennium platforms. In 2003, she moved into a leadership role within the IP organization to define strategic direction for Cerner s core clinical documentation, nursing, pharmacy and ancillary therapy workflows. From , Hertel expanded her leadership role to include managing Cerner s international software localization investments. She resided in France for 3 years defining strategic IP investments necessary to support clinical workflow variances in the EMEA markets, as well as the launch of the clinical transformation services model. Dwight McNeill Dwight McNeill, PhD, MPH is a teacher, writer, and consultant. He is a lecturer at Suffolk University where he teaches population health and health policy. He is President of WayPoint Health Analytics, which provides consultation to organizations on healthcare analytics. He is the author of A Framework for Applying Analytics in Healthcare: What Can be Learned from the Best Practices in Retail, Banking, Politics and Sports and the editor of a forthcoming book, Analytics in Healthcare and the Life Sciences: Strategies, Implementation Methods, and Best Practices, and author of numerous journal articles including Building Organizational Capacity: A Cornerstone of Health System Reform (Health Affairs). 5
6 Bob Ransom Bob Ransom is president of Outcubed Inc. and specializes in healthcare networking. Bob has been building health networks since the 1980 s. He has worked with Ontario Cancer Network, Sick Kids, B.C. Health, Ontario Telemedicine Network, Workers Compensation Boards, private group insurers, and auto insurers to create healthcare provider networks. Over Bob s career, he has successfully brought new networking technology to the Canadian marketplace. Michael Seaton Michael has spent his career creating strategy and driving tactics on both the client and agency side. His leadership in the digital world combines brand, direct, database and loyalty marketing with a deep knowledge of social media. He brings a multi- disciplinary approach with a foundation in data, measurement and analytics. Michael leads marketing strategy for the newly formed Digital Delivery Network with a mandate to transform and digitize the organization. Previously, Michael was Director, Head of Digital Marketing and Accessibility Services at CNIB. His experience also includes over a decade as Director, Digital Marketing at Scotiabank where he pioneered the bank s digital strategy. 6
