1 POST SALARY HOURS OF DUTY LOCATION REPORTING TO RESPONSIBLE FOR NETWORK ENGINEER 21,506-27,184 (subject to review) 35 Hours per Week TO BE ADVISED Network Development Manager N/A KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. To work with the Network Development Manager to install, maintain and support the College network. 2. To ensure the delivery of a College network that provides an optimal performance and constant availability and visibility to all users. KEY ROLES 1. Liaise effectively with the Network Administration team and across other IT team to provide troubleshooting, problem diagnosis and support. 2. Liaise and communicate with College staff at all levels. 3. Work with and understand the needs of other IT staff in order to provide a seamless IT service. 4. Liaise with other service providers and vendors. 5. Attend and contribute to regular IT project, progress and planning meetings. 6. Assist in the delivery of authentication services and identity/access management solutions. 7. Assist in the maintenance and support of connectivity between and within College sites, including access to JANET. 8. Contribute to and traffic management. 9. Contribute to web hosting services and create and commission core corporate services as required. 10. Contribute to external and internal DNS and support core network protocols. 11. Provide proactive analysis and fault diagnosis to reduce downtime and ensure minimal disruption to users while maintaining network security and integrity.

2 12. Contribute to the identification and implementation of improvements to existing network services and procedures. 13. Contribute to service development initiatives and participate in cross-college project teams as required. 14. Undertake professional development and training to acquire new skills and expertise as appropriate in order to fulfil the requirements of the post against a background of rapidly changing technology and service demands. 15. Contribute to an effective and secure College IT environment through appropriate and timely use of server patching and network based anti-virus/malware software. 16. Contribute to the effective deployment and maintenance of core infrastructure including switches/routers/wireless access points to ensure easy access to resources at all College sites irrespective of geographic location. 17. Assist in implementing, maintaining and monitoring network security and undertaking routine preventative measures. 18. Assist in ensuring the most efficient and effective use of the network and associated hardware. 19. Contribute to network design and development. 20. Assist in maintenance and troubleshooting of College infrastructure. 21. Contribute to the maintenance of College web services. 22. Provide a high level of technical support for staff 23. Contribute to the planning and implementation of future IT developments. 24. Contribute to projects including migration of legacy systems, system upgrades and network storage. 25. Assist with high level systems administration support. GENERAL 1. Implement and promote College policies, particularly those relating to safeguarding and equality & diversity in all aspects of College operations. 2. To implement Health and Safety and security measures in accordance with statutory and College requirements. 3. Be a role model supporting College values and corporate management. 4. Actively develop oneself through staff development and training activities and to review their personal performance and the performance of those who are responsible to them. 5. Undertake any other duties consistent with the key responsibilities and duties of the
