1 POST SALARY HOURS OF DUTY LOCATION REPORTING TO RESPONSIBLE FOR HEAD OF INFRASTRUCTURE 42,820-46,222 (subject to review) 35 Hours per Week TO BE ADVISED Information Technologies Director Network Development Manager Network Administration Officer KEY CHALLENGES 1. Create a highly visible and constantly available College Network. 2. Create a high performing team of IT Infrastructure professionals. 3. Ensure all network user accounts are managed securely. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 1. Assist the Information Technologies Director to lead the College s IT Department. 2. Develop, implement and monitor operational plans aimed at delivering the strategic goals and objectives set by the Information Technologies Director. 3. Lead the development of the College s Network Infrastructure to ensure ubiquitous availability and permanent connectivity. 4. Ensure that all necessary staff and student user accounts are timeously created, suitably configured and appropriately managed. KEY ROLES 1. Ensure a high quality, customer focused IT service is consistently provided. 2. Supervise the IT Infrastructure staff team and guide, motivate, develop and appraise them to ensure optimum performance and professional development. 3. Assist in the development and monitoring of key performance indicators and related benchmarking data using a suitably designed performance dashboard. 4. Assist with the preparation of the IT strategic plans and translate these to suitable operational plans. 5. Ensure that all College servers are virus free. 6. Ensure that all College servers have the latest patches and required security fixes are applied. 7. Ensure that all College DNS services are correctly configured and appropriately managed. 8. Work closely with the Head of Support Services and the Head of Infrastructure to

2 deliver a coherent and linked up IT service to all users 9. Harmonise, rationalise, design and implement an appropriate network connectivity and integration strategy and overall approach to network design. 10. Harmonise, rationalise, design and implement an appropriate application delivery and data storage strategy. GENERAL 1. Implement College policies, particularly those relating to equality and diversity. 2. To implement Health and Safety and security measures in accordance with statutory and College requirements. 3. Be a role model supporting College values and corporate management. 4. Actively develop his/herself through staff development and training activities and to review their own performance and the performance of those who are responsible to them. 5. Undertake any other duties consistent with the key responsibilities and duties of the post, as directed. Every Post Description will be subject to review; 1. Within six months of appointment 2. Thereafter, on an annual basis 3. As a result of agreed staff development / personal development needs 4. As a result of team / operational requirements or strategy changes.
