4 MIGRATION AND UPGRADE CONSIDERATIONS The purpse f this dcument is t utline Migratin cnsideratins and prvide the reader with a strategy fr transferring the PlanetPress Suite sftware license and/r installing the sftware upgrade n a new wrkstatin. The fllwing is a list f things t cnsider. File Extensin definitins:.ppx = PlanetPress Design Dcument, where X is the number f the PlanetPress Suite versin..pwx = PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls Cnfiguratin (Watch/Server/Office/Prductin).PTK = Presstalk file result f the Sendt cmpiled dcument t Wrkflw Transferring a PlanetPress Suite sftware license t a new wrkstatin If yu wish t transfer yur PlanetPress Suite sftware license(s) and/r install yur PlanetPress Suite Upgrade n a new wrkstatin: Befre installing, be sure t review the release ntes t see what s new, system requirements, knwn issues and much mre. The Release ntes fr the mst current versin can be fund n ur website under Dwnlads Resurce center. Fr the system requirements fr previus versins, please refer t ur Knwledge base. Install the PlanetPress Suite sftware n the new wrkstatin If yu are upgrading yur PlanetPress Suite sftware licenses; There is n need t install yur previus versin and then install the newest versin upgrade n the new wrkstatin. Installing PlanetPress Suite des nt remve prir versins. Althugh they may cexist n the same PC they cannt run simultaneusly. Request new activatin cdes fr yur sftware licenses (License Transfer agreement needs t be filled ut and signed). Cntact yur lcal Activatins Department. Upgrades cannt be activated using ur autmated Activatin Manager. 5 Add any Printer Activatin cdes t yur new PlanetPress Design and PlanetPress Wrkflw installatin There are a few ways t reinstall the printer activatin cdes. If yu have the.pac file (printer activatin cdes) frm yur previus installatin, then frm the new wrkstatin, simply duble click n it and the printers will get activated. If yu d nt have the.pac file, Exprt yur printer activatin cdes by ging t the Printer Activatin windw, Right click and select Exprt. Then save that file and frm the new wrkstatin, duble click n the.pac file and all f yur printers will get activated. Yu can lgin t ur Web Activatin Manager using yur custmer number and passwrd and get yur Printer Activatin Cdes. If yu d nt have access t the wrkstatin in which PlanetPress Suite was previusly installed n, simply print a Status Page fr each printer frm yur new wrkstatin (Tls Dcument Management select PlanetPress Printer Status Page and select yur printers frm the list. the Status Page(s) t activatins@ca.bjectiflune.cm and yu will then receive a.pac file in rder t activate yur printer. Back up all yur PlanetPress Design dcuments (.ppx extensin files) and cpy them nt the new wrkstatin. The dcuments d nt have t be in any particular flder. If yur dcument references any lcal dynamic image resurces in a flder r in Lcal Hst, make sure t imprt them nt the new wrkstatin r dwnlad them t the virtual drive if needed. All Pstscript and TrueType hst based fnts must be reinstalled. Uninstall the PlanetPress Suite sftware installed n the riginally activated wrkstatin. It is recmmended t keep the previus install fr a few days until everything is cmpleted. Hwever, nce yur transitin is successful and cmplete, yu must uninstall the PlanetPress Suite sftware frm yur riginal installatin Althugh it is nt necessary t cnvert all f yur dcuments when upgrading frm ne versin t, we strngly recmmend cnverting them t the current versin yu have installed and re-sending them t PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls. We recmmend that yur dcuments be maintained in a supprted frmat preferably with the latest versin. Installatin f PlanetPress Suite requires an accunt with Administratr rights. 6 Fr PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls Users: The wrking Directry paths since PlanetPress Versin 6 have changed. Wrking Directry fr V6 and V7: C:\Dcuments and Settings\All Users\Applicatin Data\Objectif Lune\PlanetPress Suite X\ Wrking Directry fr V5 and lwer: C:\Prgram Files\PlanetPress Suite X Back up the entire wrking directry frm yur previus wrkstatin. The PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls flder under the wrking directry cntains the fllwing files needed fr the new wrkstatin. PlanetPress Wrkflw Cnfiguratin (.cfg r.pwx) The Dcuments flder cntaining all the cmpiled dcuments (.ptk files) Back up any custm Plug-ins (.dll) that yu used in yur previus PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls cnfiguratin and cpy them nt the new wrkstatin in their respective flders. Plugins flder can be fund under the fllwing path. V6 and V7: C:\Prgram Files\Cmmn Files\Objectif Lune\PlanetPress Suite X\Plugins After yu ve cpied the plug-ins yu must register them. Fr Instructin n hw t register a Plug-in please see Plug-in Installatin Instructins Install r Imprt the Dcuments (.ptk) fr PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls There are a few ways t Install r Imprt yur Dcuments int PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls Frm PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls g t File Imprt Dcument and select the.ptk dcument yu want t imprt. (usually fund in the Dcuments flder frm yur previus installatin) Frm PlanetPress Design Open yur dcument yu wish t install in PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls and g t File Send t. If yu have many Dcuments t Install, the recmmended Prcedure is t d a Batch Send T Frm PlanetPress Design Recnfigure any settings that may need t be applied t the PlanetPress Suite Messenger and PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls LPD services using the Access Manager Pie-IX, Suite 500, Mntreal, Qc, H1V 2C8 Canada T: (514) F: (514) lmarketing@ca.bjectiflune.cm 6

7 All PstScript and TrueType hst based fnts must be reinstalled. Recreate printer queues with the same nmenclature as the printer queues that existed in the previus versin r wrkstatin. If necessary, recnfigure lcal ODBC cnnectins. (i.e. create lcal cpies f databases r recreate required DSN entries). Manually install all external executables that will be referenced by the PlanetPress Wrkflw Tls prcesses in the cnfiguratin file. If pssible, respect the lcal path used n the ther PC. On the new wrkstatin if "TCP/IP Print Server" service is running in Windws, it is requested t disable that server s that it des nt interfere with the PlanetPress LPD/LPR services. PlanetPress Image, Fax and Search Recnfigure the PlanetPress Image and PlanetPress Fax utputs with the new hst infrmatin. Yu must imprt the Search Prfile and rebuild the database in rder t generate the database structure required by PlanetPress Suite. Cnclusin This dcument is just a guide with sme recmmendatins when Upgrading PlanetPress Suite r transferring an existing license n anther wrkstatin.
