1 ReCrystallize.cm cviewserver Crystal Reprts Scheduler Tp Issues and Slutins Page 1 Remember that there are tw applicatins cviewserver which is the Windws Service running in the backgrund n the server and cviewremote which is the frnt-end t cviewserver n yur machine. There can be a delay while infrmatin is passed between them. Restart the Service: Smetimes, just stpping and re-starting the cviewserver Windws Service will clear an indeterminate prblem (Windws Start menu / Administrative tls / Services / click n cviewserver and the ptin t Stp r Start is displayed n the left) When yu create a new cnnectin with passwrd infrmatin, and a new ODBC cnnectin, yu might need t stp and restart the cviewserver scheduler service t pick up the new cnnectin infrmatin. (Cntrl Panel / Administrative Tls /Services) Reinstall sftware: Reinstalling ften clears up unexplained issues. Exit cviewremote, stp the cviewserver service, uninstall then re-install the sftware. Permissins (1): A very cmmn issue is that the Windws Service des nt have permissin t access t the reprts, prcedures, database r netwrk printer. Because cviewserver runs as a Windws Service it has its wn lgn, credentials and security. It is running behind the scenes under a different accunt. It is that accunt that needs permissins. These permissins may be different frm the User accunt running the desktp administratr Permissins (2). See if Run n Desktp wrks. If it des, the accunt yu are lgged in as has sufficient permissins. See if Run n Server wrks. If it des nt, the accunt running the cviewserver Windws Service des nt have sufficient permissins. T t check r change the accunt yu run that the cviewserver runs as: Start menu / Cntrl Panel / Administrative tls/services. Right click n the cviewserver service entry and g t Prperties. Click n the Lg On tab. Yu culd use yur wn accunt and passwrd and cviewserver shuld then have the same permissins as yu t run the reprt. ReCrystallize.cm

Alternatively, yu culd create a dedicated accunt with permissin t access the database, and with a nn-expiring passwrd. This is the apprach Micrsft take with the many services they run n a server. Permissins (3). T minimize netwrk permissins prblems, we suggest yu place reprts n the same lcal drive as cviewserver. Database Passwrds The database passwrd infrmatin is stred centrally inside the schedule database. When a reprt is laded int the schedule, the database infrmatin inside the reprt is checked. If the schedule des nt already have the database infrmatin frm a previusly scheduled reprt, it lads a new entry int the schedule. Yu can then enter the database passwrd. Check r change database passwrds in cviewremote using the Database Cnnectin menu item. Firewall blcking. A firewall might be blcking cviewserver frm sending SMTP messages t yur mail server. A firewall may be blcking cviewserver frm accessing netwrk resurces such as a database, reprt files, printers, shared flders, and s n. By default, the Windws firewalls d nt blck utging traffic. If yu use a different firewall, check the default settings. SMTP Relay must be allwed n yur mail server. This is a very cmmn reasn fr s nt being sent. Enable SMTP Relay n yur mail server and/r enable cviewserver t be an exceptin s that it can g thrugh the firewall. Fr cviewserver t send messages, yur mail server administratr wuld need t "Enable Relay" frm the cviewserver machine. Ensure that the SMTP settings fr the server are cnfigured, and that the server will accept fr Relay frm the cviewserver machine. cviewserver uses SMTP t send the mail direct t the mail server. It des nt use a mail client such as Outlk t send . ReCrystallize.cm

There is a menu item Help/Trubleshting/Send Test Message. If the test message is nt successful, the prblem is with yur mail server. Server Authenticatin Yur server may require authenticatin if s are nt being sent. If required, tick the bx n the SMTP Server settings windw, then add the user name and passwrd. The schedulers wrk best when SQL Server is set up t use SQL Authenticatin rather than Integrated / NT Authenticatin r Kerbers Administratr rights - elevated: Run with elevated administratr rights n Windws Vista r later. (right click/ Run as Administratr) instead f nrmal administratr rights, fr instance t Run the InstallService.bat file t install the cviewserver Windws Service r Set up the ODBC cnnectin. Username. When installing, the username needs t be fully qualified t include the dmain in the frm DmainName\AdminName. Fr a lcal accunt, yu may use frmat the username as.\username t indicate a lcal accunt ODBC 32 bit vs. 64 bit: Crystal Reprts is a 32 bit applicatin and there can smetimes be incmpatibilities if yur system type is 64 bit. Check by right-clicking My Cmputer and selecting Prperties. In particular, when setting up an ODBC cnnectin, if yur system type is 64 bit, d nt use the Administrative Tls / Data Surces (ODBC) ptin frm the Start Meny r Cntrl Panel. Instead, use C:\Windws\SysWOW64\dbcad32.exe. Windws 2012 includes shrtcuts t bth 32-bit and 64-bit ODBC Data Surces in Cntrl Panel. ODBC needs t be a SYSTEM DSN rather than a USER DSN. A user DSN is typically nt visible t any Windws Service, including cviewserver, ODBC match settings Ensure that the ODBC and database clients are all laded with the same settings as the machine that was used t design the reprt. Ensure that n-ne, including the schedule administratr, is editing r lcking that file when the multirun is prcessing. Fr instance with if it is pen NtePad r MS Wrd it may be lcked. Check whether the multirun, is being dne n the actual cviewserver machine, r via a remte desktp. Check where the the rpt file is. The Multirun cntrl file (.txt) is by default in the same flder as the rpt file. If that is n the cviewserver lcal drive a remte cviewremote sessin frm anther machine, cannt see it very easily. Unused parameters: Please delete any unused parameters in any reprt and save the.rpt. cviewremote des nt deal well with reprts that have parameters created but nt used. The applicatin can build a list f parameters in the main reprt, but cannt identify if the parameter is in use, s adds them t the list and tries t lad values when the reprt is prcessed. It will help t identify prblems if yu click n the menu item Tls/Refresh Reprt and check that the crrect parameter list is built fr that reprt Architectural incmpatibilities Yu nrmally d nt need t run Crystal n the same machine as cviewserver. We have fund ptential cnflicts between cviewserver 12 and Crystal Reprts Fr that reasn we recmmend yu d nt install bth n the same machine. There may be cnflicts between cviewserver and ther prducts that use Crystal Reprts runtime Our ther reprt scheduler cviewmanager includes the Crystal run-time One f the SAP / Business Objects prducts such as BO Enterprise r Crystal Reprts Server includes the Crystal run-time A Crystal reprts viewer such as ur cview A prduct frm a different cmpany that includes the Crystal Reprts run-time, perhaps as a package. Many ther third-party applicatins use Crystal Reprts fr reprting and may install a versin f the Crystal Reprts runtime. ReCrystallize.cm

Delete cviewlg.xml (taking a cpy f it first in case yu need t see the lg in the future). A new cviewlg.xml will be created autmatically. frmat and settings: cviewserver uses the Outlk cnventin: Delimit addresses with a semicln (;) D nt add a space between the addresses D nt include < > arund the address eg <mmcdwallsn@chelseatch.c.nz> D nt have trailing r leading blanks in the address Other trubleshting : Avid cpying addresses frm Wrd r Outlk because this may intrduce spurius characters unless care is taken It will avid prblems if yu type in the address frm scratch Smetimes a spelling mistake creeps in t the dmain name. In the View menu / Destinatin dmains / Enter yur dmain (e.g. recrystallize.cm) / Save There are restrictins currently in the CC and BCC fields : Errrs in any f the three fields (T, cc, bcc) will currently display as an errr in the T field Multiple addresses are allwed in the T field but nly ne address in the cc field and Bcc field T cnfirm is wrking Yu can set up a test address and message under the SMTP settings and then send it using the Help menu. In cviewremote / YurServerName / click t expand all items (if it has a + n the left) / System / SMTP settings / Test Message t / add yur address here. Then add the message yu want t send t / System / SMTP settings / Test Message / add yur message here / Save buttn Next click n the cviewremote menu Help / Trubleshting /Send Test Message. 6 ReCrystallize.cm cviewserver Crystal Reprts Scheduler Tp Issues and Slutins Page 6 Please check whether s have been suspended by smene changing settings: cviewremote menu / Tls / Suspend Reprt Prcessing Check the setting under cviewremote / YurServerName / click t expand all items (if it has a + n the left) / System / SMTP settings / Yur database (SQL Server, Oracle, etc.) Please cnfirm that any required database client sftware such as Oracle Client sftware and any required settings such as TNS names are cnfigured crrectly n the cviewserver machine. Check that the tables and stred prcedures inside the database have sufficient permissin t run the reprt. Under the Database cnnectin entry settings in cviewremote, check that the values fr Server, Database, User and Passwrd/Cnfirm match thse required fr the Server (and nt the wrkstatin) Check whether mapped drives (X:) are used in ne place and the UNC path (//server/share/flder/..) in anther Mapped Drives wrk in cviewserver cviewserver 10 and cviewserver12 bth supprt mapped drives even thugh Windws Services cannt see mapped drives. cviewremote cnverts a mapped drive (X: ) t a UNC path (//server/share/flder/..) Mapped drives are used in tw places with scheduling reprts. The rpt file itself culd be stred n a remte drive accessed by a mapped drive. The data might be a file based database like MS Access, DBF, Btrieve, etc. Client Server databases like SQL server and Oracle d nt have this prblem. In sme cases e.g. ODBC cnnecting t MS Access, a mapped drive is required by the driver. In thse cases the mapped drive is imprtant. Inside cviewserver 12 there is the ability t create mapped drives that are visible t the service. Hw t add a mapped drive Select the reprt in the schedule. Then use the menu item Insert/Mapped drive. Yu can then select the Mapped drive letter (such as Z:) and the path t that mapped drive. ReCrystallize.cm

It culd be cnfusing if different reprts uses the same mapped drive, but t different lcatins. Mapped drives are specific t each reprt If yu are trying t lad a reprt int cviewserver frm a cviewremote frm anther machine, the mapped drive lcatin needs t be accessible t the accunt running cviewserver. Even if it is back n the cviewserver machine. Recmmendatins Ideally, avid mapped drives as they can bring a layer f cnfusin. This means yu will need t use a UNC path (//server/share/flder/..) t the database instead f X:. Hwever, cviewserver can deal with it because its frnt end cviewremote cnverts a mapped drive (X: ) t a UNC path (//server/share/flder/..) We supprt this apprach s a reprt can be laded int the scheduler several times and have a mapped drive t a different flder share fr each item in the schedule.
