Chpter 6 Common Non-System Configurtion This chpter provides instructions for configuring commnds tht pper in more thn one protocol in the SP201. Use the sections in this chpter tht re pplicle to your SP201 s setup. Before configuring the protocols for your SP201, e sure you hve completed ll the configurtion procedures in Chpter 2, Configurtion Overview. Note: The commnds in this chpter do not configure system-wide prmeters. (To configure system-wide prmeters, see Section 2.3, System Configurtion.) This chpter contins the following informtion: Section 6.1, Non-System-Level Commnds Used y More Thn One Protocol, lists the commnds for configuring the protocols discussed in this chpter.

6-2 Chpter 6: Common Non-System Configurtion Section 6.2, Configuring Non-System-Level Commnds Used y More Thn One Protocol, provides procedures for configuring the commnds tht re used y more thn one protocol. Section 6.3, Configuring Prmeters Specific to ANI, provides procedures for configuring Alternte Numer Insertion (ANI). These commnds re ville only if the ANI feture hs een instlled. Note: You my lso wish to review the following for dditionl prmeters to configure: Chpter 3, Configurtion of CAS Protocols Chpter 4, Configurtion of SS7 Protocols Chpter 5, Configurtion of ISDN Protocols Chpter 7, Timeslot nd CIC Configurtion 6.1 Non-System-Level Commnds Used y More Thn One Protocol Tle 6-1 lists the commnds tht re used in more thn one protocol. Note: For commnds to configure the common prmeters in the SP201 or commnds to configure specific protocols, see the following: Section 2.3, System Configurtion Section 3.2, Commnds for Configuring Chnnel-Associted Signling Protocols Section 4.2, Commnds for Configuring Signling System 7 Protocols Section 5.2, Commnds for Configuring ISDN Protocols Section 7.1, Commnds for Mpping Timeslots nd CICs

Configuring Non-System-Level Commnds Used y More Thn One Protocol 6-3 Tle 6-1. Configurtion Commnds Used y More Thn One Protocol Commnd Nme Protocol Description config sp200 ll CAS; ANSI SS7 to ITU C7 Configures prmeters tht pply to ll DS0s on the SP201. On systems using CAS protocols, sets the conditions for sending circuit reset (RESCIR) messges. For ANSI SS7 to ITU C7 conversion, sets use of ANI. See Section 6.2.1, The config sp200 Commnd. Note: On systems performing ANSI SS7 to ITU C7 conversion, this commnd is ville only if the optionl ANI feture hs een instlled. config ni ll Sets up Alternte Numer Insertion (ANI). See Section 6.3.1, Configuring ANI Sustitution. Note: This commnd is ville only if the optionl ANI feture hs een instlled. 6.2 Configuring Non-System-Level Commnds Used y More Thn One Protocol The following sections use stndrd procedure to configure similr elements on dissimilr protocols: Section 6.2.1, The config sp200 Commnd The config sp200 Commnd The config sp200 commnd sets prmeters tht ffect ll the chnnels in the SP201. You cn use the config sp200 commnd to set the conditions tht determine when circuit reset (RESCIR) messges re sent. When CAS chnnel resets, RESCIR messge (unless suppressed) is sent on the peer SS7/C7 chnnel, nd vlid response is expected nd required. Tht is, if chnnel (or group of chnnels) receives reset instruction (for exmple, reset chn commnd) or experiences power recycle, the SP201 sends RESCIR messges for ll CICs ssocited with the chnnels s soon s the chnnels hve reset.

6-4 Chpter 6: Common Non-System Configurtion The config SP200 commnd llows the SP201 to e configured so tht the RESCIR messge is not sent or so tht response is not required. The commnd lso llows you to enle mintennce lert messges. The config sp200 commnd differs slightly ccording to the protocol you re configuring. The following susections present procedures tilored to specific protocols: Section , The config sp200 Commnd for DTMF or R1 Signling Section , The config sp200 Commnd for R2 Signling Section , The config sp200 Commnd for N5 Signling Section , The config sp200 Commnd for ANSI SS7 to ITU C7 Signling The config sp200 Commnd for DTMF or R1 Signling Figure 6-1 nd Figure 6-1 illustrte the config sp200 commnd tsk flow for DTMF or R1 signling. The procedure elow explins how to use the commnd.

Note: In ddition to commnds specific to ANI, other commnds my include prmeters for ANI. In most cses, these prmeters re presented for configurtion only if the softwre contins the ANI feture. If n ANI prmeter is presented in softwre tht does not contin the ANI feture, ccept the defult Configuring ANI Sustitution You hve the option of configuring Alternte Numer Insertion (ANI). ANI is used to replce cller IDs or clling prty numers. The following procedure provides guidelines. To see the contents of the ANI tle, see Section , Viewing the ANI Tle. Note: The commnds for configuring Alternte Numer Insertion (ANI) re ville only if the optionl ANI Feture hs een instlled.

Configuring Prmeters Specific to ANI 6-19 How to Use the config ni Commnd 1 Type config ni x y nd press Enter, where x is the strting ANI (cller ID or clling prty numer) nd y is the numer of ANIs to configure in this set. (You must specify vlue for y, even to dd only one ANI.) The progrm stores the strting numer in the ANI tle. Then it dds one to the strting numer nd stores tht numer in the tle. This process continues until y numer of ANIs hve een stored in the tle. A messge similr to the following is displyed, followed y the user> prompt. 5 ANIs of 5 dded to tle. user> Note: For exmple, if you enter config ni nd then enter show ni, the following ANI tle is displyed: where the first numer in ech pir identifies the ANI s position in the tle, nd the second numer in ech pir is the ANI. Note: An ANI tle my contin 0 to 1000 entries. If there re lredy entries in the ANI tle, new entry is dded t the end of the tle. If y extends eyond the cpcity of the tle, only the entries tht fit into 1000 positions re dded to the tle. Any entry fter 1000 positions is discrded, nd the console displys messge similr to one of the following: If the tle lredy hd 1000 entries: ANI Tle is full! If the tle lredy hd some entries, ut fewer thn 1000 entries: Wrning!.. only 992 ANIs of 1000 dded to tle.

6-20 Chpter 6: Common Non-System Configurtion How to Delete ANIs from the ANI Tle 1 At the prompt, type config ni delete x y nd press Enter, where x is the strting ANI (cller ID or clling prty numer) nd y is the numer of ANIs to delete from the tle. (You must specify vlue for y, even to delete only one ANI.) The specified ANI is deleted, s re the ANIs tht follow it in the tle, until y numer of ANIs hve een deleted. The console displys messge similr to the following: -10 ANIs of 10 deleted from tle. user> Note: The vlue for y cn extend eyond the numer of entries in the tle, ut it will hve no dditionl effect. When entries re deleted from the tle, the tle is compressed to remove ny empty positions. If the specified ANI cnnot e found in the tle, the following error messge is displyed. Requested ANI not found
