First connect this unit nd your PC *1 to the sme For more informtion on network connections, see the section Connect to network, prts A to E (pge 18 of the Operting Instructions). *2 *1 Opertion hs een confirmed using Internet Explorer versions 8/9 on Windows, nd Sfri on Mc computers. *2 Firmwre updting cnnot e performed using the method descried in F. Wireless Direct Function. Importnt Do not disconnect the AC power dpter during the updte process. When using the XW-SMA3, it is necessry to first connect the AC dpter to the unit (updting cnnot e performed when operting the unit using the uilt-in ttery). When updting the unit s fi rmwre, it is necessry to connect the unit to network (except method F of Connect to network ); for more informtion see pge 18 of the Operting Instructions. 1. Disply the We Control menu. Choose the ccess method pproprite for your device. Using Sfri to ccess We Control 1. Strt the Sfri rowser on your computer. 2. Click on the ookmrk icon ( ) t the upper left of the screen. 3. Click on Bonjour list (), nd select this unit s friendly nme (). It is necessry to previously set Sfri to disply Bonjour. Using Microsoft Windows 7/Vist 1. Click on Strt Documents My Documents. 2. From the Explorer menu on the left side of the screen, select Network. This unit will pper s n icon connected to the sme 3. Right-click on this unit s icon nd select View device wepge. You should now e le to ccess the We Control menu. Using UPnP function to ccess We Control (fter connecting to the network) This unit supports UPnP. You cn ccess the We Control menu from UPnP-supported device connected to the sme network s this unit. For detils, consult your computer s operting instructions. Using Windows XP 1. Click on Strt My Network. 2. Click on Disply icons for UPnP devices connected to the network. If the four digits following the S re lower thn [1050], firmwre updte is required. If the four digits re sme or greter thn [1050], no updte is required. S S Downlod the new firmwre. The firmwre updte cn e downloded from Pioneer s wesite. The firmwre file will e downloded to the folder you specify. Depending on your rowser nd its settings, the destintion selection window my not pper when downloding the fi rmwre file. In this cse, the fi le will e downloded utomticlly to the folder designted in your rowser settings. The firmwre file will e downloded in compressed zip formt. (Exmple) Compressed file nme: SMA2013NMP****.zip The four sterisks (****) indicte the version numer. 4. Open the downloded compressed file. Decompress the firmwre fi le nd store the contents in folder of your choosing. When the compressed file is decompressed, new folder will e creted nd the updted firmwre file (SMA2013NMP****.fw) will e stored in the new folder. For more informtion out how to decompress fi les, consult your softwre or computer deler. 5. Select firmwre updte. On the We Control menu, click on Firmwre Updte () followed y Strt (). The Firmwre Updte Prepre screen is displyed. If the screen does not switch utomticlly, click on Click Here. 6. Select the updte file. Click on the Choose File utton () nd select the fi rmwre file (SMA2013NMP****.fw) previously downloded, nd then click on the Uplod utton (). Then, press Yes on the confirmtion screen. Once the updte hs egun, it cnnot e cncelled. 7. Confirm tht the updte hs completed properly. When the updte hs egun, the updte process will e displyed. When the updte process finishes, follow the instructions on the screen nd unplug the power cord. If the updte process is not completed within ten minutes, try unplugging the unit, then repet the updte process. Instlling ControlApp Next, the Pioneer ppliction ControlApp must e instlled on your moile device. For more informtion out your operting environment, ccess the pproprite Wesite s noted elow. If using n iphone or ipod touch For iphone or ios device, you cn otin from AppStore. If using n Android device For Android, you cn otin from Google Ply. Listening to Pndor/Internet Rdio If using ControlApp for the fi rst time, follow these procedures to strt the ppliction. 1. Connect this unit to the network you normlly use. 2. Connect your moile device to the sme Confirm tht ControlApp is instlled on your moile device. 3. Turn on the power to this unit. 4. Strt ControlApp on your moile device. Wired/Wireless 5. Tp the Downlod utton. When downlod is completed, the CONTROL screen will e displyed. Downlod Wireless 2

Connect this unit nd your moile device to The Pndor nd Internet Rdio functions cnnot e used when using wireless direct connection. 2. Strt ControlApp. Plyck control uttons 3. Tp the Pndor or Internet Rdio utton. The unit s source input will switch to Pndor or Internet Rdio, nd the unit s input indictor will light stedily green. Green 4. Tp the plyck control utton. Audio plyck will egin. The plyck control uttons used will differ depending on the function. When listening to music with Pndor/Internet Rdio, the following remote control uttons will e disled: (ply/ puse), (prev), nd (next) Buttons remining enled on this unit nd its remote control include stndy/on, input, nd volume /+ (vol /+). Stopping rdio ply During use of Pndor/Internet Rdio, ply cn e stopped y performing ny of the following opertions. Using ny utton controls on the unit or its remote control tht turn the unit s power off The next time power is restored, function will e utomticlly switched to the input (ipod or AUX IN) selected efore use of Pndor or Internet Rdio. Using ny utton controls on the unit or its remote control tht chnge input to nything esides Pndor or Internet Rdio Function will e utomticlly switched to the input (ipod or AUX IN) selected efore use of Pndor or Internet Rdio. Using nother device to operte this unit nd strt AirPly or DMR udio ply Function will switch to AirPly or DMR function. During Pndor or Internet Rdio ply, if the MUTE function is set to ON nd more thn 20 minutes expires When the MUTE function hs operted for 20 minutes, the unit s power is utomticlly turned off. The uto power off function will e disled if the MUTE function is turned off, or the MUTE function is cncelled due to opertion of the volume control. 3

4 If ControlApp is disled or the connection with this unit is disrupted during udio plyck If you return to the home pge on your moile device, strt nother ppliction, or llow the device to enter sleep mode, the connection etween this unit nd ControlApp will e cut. Even if the connection is cut, however, udio ply will continue on the unit. Even if the connection with ControlApp is cut, the following uttons on the unit nd its remote control will continue to e enled: stndy/on, input, volume /+ (vol /+). In the event ControlApp is stopped during udio ply, the unit cn e operted gin y restrting ControlApp nd reestlishing connection etween it nd this unit. Ordinry ground-sed rodcsting is limited to the rnge of the rdio wve, ut Internet Rdio llows reception of rdio progrms from round the world, delivered through the Internet. On the other hnd, depending on the sttus of the Internet connection, rodcst sounds my sometimes e interrupted or grled. A rodnd connection is recommended when listening to Internet Rdio. Use of 56K modem or ISDN connection my inhiit your ility to fully pprecite the potentil of Internet Rdio. Computer port numers for Internet Rdio my differ, depending on the sttion, so it is recommended to check your firewll settings. The provision of lists of rodcsting sttions y vtuner my e discontinued without notifiction. Brodcsting sttions sometimes interrupt or discontinue rodcsts. In such cses, it my not e possile to receive rodcsts from sttion, even though it is pulished on list of ville sttions. The list of Internet Rdio sttions provided with this unit is sed on the rdio sttion dtse service vtuner. This dtse service is edited nd compiled for use with this unit. vtuner is n online contents service for Internet Rdio. For more informtion out vtuner, consult the wesite t com. Using dedicted Pioneer wesite to register sttions not on the vtuner list This unit cn e used to register nd ply progrmmed mteril from sttions not found on lists distriuted y vtuner. To do this, confi rm the ccess code necessry to register this unit, nd use tht code to ccess the dedicted Pioneer internet rdio site; through it, you cn register your fvorite sttions. The URL for the dedicted Pioneer Internet Rdio site is 1. Disply the top level screen of the Internet Rdio list. 2. Tp on Help. 3. Tp on Get ccess code. The screen will disply the ccess code necessry to register sttions on the dedicted Pioneer Internet Rdio site; record tht ccess code on piece of pper. The Help screen llows you to confi rm the following items: Get ccess code: Displys ccess code necessry to register on the dedicted Pioneer Internet Rdio site. Show Your WeID/PW: After registering on the dedicted Pioneer Internet Rdio site, your registrtion ID nd pssword will e displyed. Reset Your WeID/PW: Resets ll registrtion informtion on the dedicted Pioneer Internet Rdio site. When this is reset, ny rodcst sttions you hve registered there will lso e ersed, so if you wish to continue to listen to ny sites you previously registered, re-register them fter performing the reset. 4. Use the ccess code noted in step 3 to perform user registrtion ccording to the instructions on the screen. 8. Follow the instructions on the screen to register your fvorite sttions. Here, you cn register oth sttions not on the vtuner list, nd sttions on the list s well. In this cse, the sttions will e recorded on this unit s fvorite sttions, llowing you to ply them esily. Trouleshooting Prolem Cn t decompress firmwre fi le (zip fi le). Bonjour isn t displyed when using Sfri. Sound stops while listening to Pndor/Internet Rdio. The unit cnnot e strted (power connected) with the input function set to Pndor/Internet Rdio. The unit utomticlly powers down. Pndor/Internet Rdio continues plying even fter stopping ControlApp. Cn t connect ControlApp Remote control uttons don t respond. The messge Connecting... ppers, ut no ply strts. Cn t ply Pndor/Internet Rdio Cuse/Remedy When using Windows XP nd lter operting systems, zip-file extrctor is furnished s stndrd feture, llowing zip files to e treted s ordinry folders. From the Pioneer wesite, store the downloded firmwre folder (SMA2013NMP1050.zip) on your computer. Open the folder nd copy the firmwre file (SMA2013NMP1050.fw) locted inside the folder to your computer s desktop or other desired loction. Mc OS X nd lter operting systems llow compressed zip files to e treted s norml files. When you doule click on the downloded firmwre zip file (SMA2013NMP1050.zip), decompressed ordinry folder will e creted in the sme plce. Set your computer to llow Sfri to disply Bonjour. Is the unit s MUTE function enled? Turn off the MUTE function. Hs n error messge een generted? Check the ControlApp screen. If the unit is not connected to ControlApp, connect ControlApp to the unit once gin nd check the disply. If the ove steps do not rectify the prolem, try chnging the input, or turn the unit off nd on gin. When the power is turned on to this unit, it will not strt in Pndor/Internet Rdio mode. However, when the unit is set to Quick-Strt mode nd is currently in stndy mode, if one of the Internet Rdio or Pndor uttons is tpped, the unit s power will turn on nd Internet Rdio or Pndor modes will e selected. If the MUTE function is left enled for more thn 20 minutes, the unit is designed to utomticlly turn power off. If the MUTE function is disled or sound volume is rised, the utomtic power off function will e cncelled. For detils see the section Stopping rdio ply (P. 3). Pndor/Internet Rdio will continue to ply on the unit even fter closing ControlApp. In tht cse, however, ControlApp cnnot e operted. To ccess ControlApp opertions, strt ControlApp once gin nd connect to this unit. Is the unit s firmwre version lower thn [1050]? If so, updte the firmwre version.
