1 Configuring Smartphones with Google Mail This document assumes that you already have an account configured on your Smartphone and need to change to Google Mail settings. 2 4) Tap on your account listed under Accounts 5) Scroll down the screen until Change Login Settings appears. 6) Change your INCOMING MAIL SERVER to imap.gmail.com 7) Change your USERNAME to display your entire address. 8) Change your OUTGOING MAIL SERVER to smtp.gmail.com Page 2 of 11

3 9) Go back to your previous screen and you should see a message Preferences updated 10) Send a test message to yourself to verify proper configuration. Configuring Android with Google Mail *Note: This is for the native Android mail client. If you are using K9, you can switch to the native client using the full instructions located on the ETS website at under Documents, Guides, and Instructions. 1) From the main screen, tap the menu button. 2) Tap the icon. 3) Tap the MENU button and click on Account settings 4) Scroll down to Server settings 5) Click on Incoming server settings 6) Change your Username to display your entire address. 4 7) Change the IMAP server to imap.gmail.com 8) Tap Next 9) Click on Outgoing server settings under Server settings 10) Change the SMTP server to smtp.gmail.com Page 4 of 11

5 11) Tap Next 12) Tap the MENU button. 13) Send a test message to yourself to verify proper configuration. Configuring Palm with Google Mail 1) From the main screen select 2) Tap the menu key. 3) Tap Accounts 4) Tap Account Setup 5) Select your account and tap Edit 6) Tap Next 7) The following screen below appears. 6 8) Enter Username: to display your entire address. 9) Enter Incoming Mail Server: imap.gmail.com 10) Enter Outgoing Mail Server: smtp.gmail.com 11) The popup below appears. 12) Yes 13) Send a test message to yourself to verify proper configuration. Page 6 of 11

7 Configuring Windows Mobile with Google Mail 1) From the main screen select Programs, Messaging 2) Tap Menu, Tools, Options 3) The following screen appears. 4) Tap on your account to change settings. (e.g. *IMAP4) 5) Tap Next 6) The following screen appears. Page 7 of 11

9 9) Under Server information enter Incoming mail: imap.gmail.com and Outgoing mail: smtp.gmail.com: ) Tap Finish 11) Tap ok 12) Send a test message to yourself to verify proper configuration. Configuring iphone with Google Mail 1) From the main screen, tap the menu button. 2) Tap the Settings icon. 3) Tap Mail, Contacts, Calendar 4) Tap on account 5) Tap Account Info 6) The following screen appears. 7) Change Host Name to imap.gmail.com 8) Change User Name to display your entire address. 9) Enter your Password 10) Using your finger, slide the screen up. 11) Under Outgoing Mail Server, tap SMTP Server 12) Tap Server Page 9 of 11
