5 EsyMP Network Updter Fetures 5 EsyMP Network Updter is n ppliction tht llows you to updte firmwre for projector over wired LAN. You cn lso schedule when the firmwre updtes will tke plce. Once you select projector's menu settings, you cn use EsyMP Network Updter to copy the settings to multiple projectors of the sme type in btch setup opertion. 7 Instlling the Softwre 7 Check the system requirements necessry to run the softwre, nd then instll the softwre. If the lnguge selected for the instlltion differs from the lnguge of the operting system being used, the screens my not be displyed correctly. 9 Selecting Projector Network Settings 9 If the projector you wnt to updte is not connected to your network, select the necessry settings to connect it to your network. Connect the projector using wired network system. Firmwre cnnot be updted nd projector menu settings cnnot be copied over wireless LAN. Press the [Menu] button on the remote control or the control pnel, select the Network menu, nd select Network Configurtion. Select Wired LAN. A screen like one of the following is displyed. Setting Up Projector to Connect in Advnced Connection Mode (Wired) To connect computer to the projector using wired LAN, you need to select network settings on the computer nd the projector. b Contct your network dministrtor nd check tht DHCP is vilble under the current network environment. If DHCP is not vilble, write down the following vlues tht re vilble for your projector. IP Address Subnet Msk Gtewy Address Connect the computer to the network. To set up network connection, if necessry, see the documenttion supplied with your computer or network dpter. g h Select IP settings s necessry. DHCP is vilble: Set DHCP to On. DHCP is not vilble: Set DHCP to Off nd enter the projector's IP Address, Subnet Msk, nd Gtewy Address vlues s necessry. When you hve finished mking settings, select Setup Complete or Complete, nd follow the on-screen instructions to sve your settings nd exit the menus. 10 Mking Projector List 10 You cn mke list of projectors for which you wnt to updte the firmwre or copy the menu settings using EsyMP Network Updter. You cn then use this list to updte the firmwre or copy the menu settings for ech projector. To crete projector list, you cn serch for the projectors on your network utomticlly or mnully, or you cn import list tht hs been exported from EsyMP Network Updter or EsyMP Monitor. Windows 8 or Windows 8.1: Select Serch on the Chrms, nd then select EsyMP Network Updter Ver.X.XX. EsyMP Network Updter strts. Open the Edit menu, nd then click Edit Projector List. The Edit Projector List screen is displyed. Click Automtic serch. You cn lso import projector list tht hs been exported from EsyMP Network Updter or EsyMP Monitor.

Enter n IP ddress in Strt ddress nd End ddress, nd then click Serch. Without setting n IP ddress rnge: Click Serch. f Select the necessry settings for ech projector. The ppliction displys list of network projectors tht llow firmwre updtes or copying of menu settings using EsyMP Network Updter. If the projector you wnt is not displyed in the list, edit the projector list mnully. e Select the projector tht you wnt to register, nd then click Edit. A Enter the nme of the projector. This nme is displyed in the projector list. You cn enter up to 32 chrcters. B Displys the nme tht hs been registered to the projector.

If you do not enter the correct pssword, you cnnot updte the projector's firmwre or copy the menu settings, even fter registering the projector. For more informtion bout psswords, see the User's Guide supplied with the projector. E Enter notes bout the projector, such s its loction, if necessry. Notes entered here re displyed in Description on the Edit Projector List screen. b c Open the Edit menu, nd then click Edit Projector List. The Edit Projector List screen is displyed. 15 Updting the Firmwre 15 You cn updte the firmwre right wy or schedule time for the firmwre updte. Contct your nerest Epson support center for more informtion on cquiring your projector firmwre. When you updte the firmwre, mke sure the projector is on or the projector's Stndby Mode is set to Communiction On. Cution Do not unplug the projector's power cord while updting the firmwre. If the projector is unexpectedly shut down while updting, the firmwre my not be written correctly which could cuse the projector to mlfunction. Epson tkes no responsibility for firmwre updte filures nd ssocited repir costs due to power outges, communiction errors, or other problems tht my cuse such filures. c The Add Schedule screen is displyed. Click Browse, nd then select the firmwre file you wnt to use to updte the projectors. b Strt EsyMP Network Updter. Windows XP, Windows Vist, nd Windows 7: Click Strt, select Progrms (or All Progrms), EPSON Projector, EsyMP Network Updter, nd then click EsyMP Network Updter Ver.X.XX. Windows 8 or Windows 8.1: Select Serch on the Chrms, nd then select EsyMP Network Updter Ver.X.XX. EsyMP Network Updter strts. Click Add on the min screen.

16 Updting the Firmwre 16 The extension for projector firmwre files is.bin. Do not select ny other file type. The firmwre informtion is displyed in File Informtion, nd then list of the projectors tht support the selected firmwre is displyed. d Click Show. e Do one of the following. Select ll projectors: Click Select ll. Specify the projectors you wnt to updte: Select the projector's checkbox. f Select one of the following methods to updte the firmwre.

17 Updting the Firmwre 17 Schedule the updte: Select Set the Time to set the dte nd time you wnt to perform the firmwre updte, nd then click Register. Updte immeditely: Cler the Set the Time checkbox, nd then click Strt Now to strt the firmwre updte immeditely. The firmwre is updted t the dte nd time you set, nd the LED indictor on the projector turns on. When the firmwre updte is complete, the projector turns off nd it enters stndby mode. While updting, you cn check the firmwre updte sttus on the EsyMP Network Updter min screen. If you try to close the ppliction while updting the firmwre, messge is displyed sking if you wnt to cncel the updte. If you select Yes, the schedule being updted is cnceled. If you try to close the ppliction when there is scheduled updte stnding by, confirmtion messge is displyed. If you choose to close the ppliction, mke sure you restrt EsyMP Network Updter before the scheduled updte begins. If the ppliction is closed when n updte is scheduled to begin, the updte is cnceled. 18 Copying Projector Menu Settings Using Btch Setup 18 You cn copy the menu settings from one projector to one or more other projectors of the sme model. This llows you to quickly duplicte projector menu settings in btch setup opertion. You cn copy menu settings in btch setup opertion right wy or schedule time to copy them. You must dd ll the projectors tht you will updte to the projector list in the EsyMP Network Updter softwre before using the btch setup feture. When you copy the menu settings, mke sure the projector is on or the projector's Stndby Mode is set to Communiction On. Not ll menu settings re copied to nother projector, such s following. Network menu settings (except for the Mil menu nd the Others menu) Lmp Hours nd Sttus from the Info menu Perform the btch setup opertion before djusting the imge settings such s Keystone. Imge djustment vlues re lso pplied to other projectors nd djustments you mde before performing the btch setup opertion re overwritten. When you copy the menu settings from one projector to nother, the user's logo is lso copied. Do not register ny informtion tht you do not wnt to shre between multiple projectors s user's logo. The Projector configurtion dt cquisition screen is displyed. Select the projector from which you wnt to copy the menu settings nd click Acquire. If you do not see the projector, mke sure the projector is on nd click Refresh. The Sve As screen ppers. Nme the projector menu setting configurtion file nd click Sve to sve it on your computer.

22 Mnging n Updte Schedule 22 You cn chnge, cncel, or delete firmwre updte or projector menu copying schedules tht you hve registered in EsyMP Network Updter. Select the schedule tht you wnt to chnge on the min screen, nd then click Chnge. b Select the projectors you wnt to updte, nd then chnge the updte schedule. c Click Chnge. 23 Mnging n Updte Schedule 23 Cnceling n Updte Schedule You cn cncel updtes for projectors tht re in Witing or Executing sttus. When cnceling scheduled updte tht is currently Executing, you cn only cncel updtes for projectors tht hve not yet been strted. Select the schedule tht you wnt to cncel on the min screen, nd then click Cncel. Select the schedule tht you wnt to delete on the min screen, nd then click Delete. b When the confirmtion dilog box is displyed, click Yes. The selected schedule is deleted from the Schedule List. b When the confirmtion dilog box is displyed, click Yes. The selected schedule is cnceled. After cnceling the schedule, it remins in the list. 24 Mnging the Projector List 24 You cn chnge the informtion for projector tht hs lredy been registered in the projector list. You cn lso crete bckup file of registered projectors by exporting the projector list. You cn then import the exported list to quickly set up firmwre updtes or copy projector menu settings on nother computer. c The Edit Projector screen is displyed. Chnge the informtion s necessry. 25 Mnging the Projector List 25 "Mnging the Projector List" p.24 Exporting Projector List You cn export the projector list to crete bckup of the registered projectors. b Open the Edit menu, nd then click Edit Projector List. The Edit Projector List screen is displyed. Click Export. Importing Projector List You cn import projector list tht ws previously exported from EsyMP Network Updter or EsyMP Monitor. Projectors tht do not support EsyMP Network Updter cnnot be imported to the projector list. The projector list creted using EsyMP Monitor (EMP Monitor.dt) cn be found t the following loction. Windows 2000/Windows XP: C:\Progrm Files\EPSON Projector\EsyMP (or EMP) Monitor Ver. X.XX (Ver. X.XX represents the softwre version) Windows Vist/Windows 7/Windows 8/Windows 8.1: C:\Users\(User Nme)\AppDt\Locl\VirtulStore\Progrm Files \EPSON Projector\EsyMP (or EMP) Monitor Ver. X.XX (Ver. Select the file you wnt to import, nd then click Open.

27 Mking Security Settings 27 You cn improve EsyMP Network Updter security by restricting ccess to the ppliction nd preventing nyone from chnging its settings. "Using Additionl Functions" p.21 "Setting the Pssword" p.27 "Restricting the Use of the Appliction" p.27 Setting the Pssword You cn set pssword tht must be entered when the ppliction is strted or when the ppliction lock function is enbled. b Open the Tool menu, nd then select Settings. The Settings screen is displyed. Select Chnge the ppliction pssword. d e f Crete pssword for the first time: Leve the Old pssword field blnk. Chnge n old pssword: Enter the existing pssword in the Old pssword field. Enter new pssword in the New pssword field. The pssword cn be up to 16 lphnumeric chrcters. Enter the sme pssword gin in the New pssword (confirm) field. Click OK. The pssword is sved. "Mking Security Settings" p.27 "Restricting the Use of the Appliction" p.27 Restricting the Use of the Appliction You cn lock the EsyMP Network Updter functions so tht they cnnot be ccessed by third prty. When you set pssword, you need to enter the pssword to relese the ppliction lock. Using pssword improves the EsyMP Network Updter security. c Do one of the following. Open the Tool menu, nd then select Appliction lock. The ppliction is locked nd no opertions re vilble except for opening nd closing EsyMP Network Updter nd disbling the ppliction lock.

28 Mking Security Settings 28 To unlock the ppliction, open the Tool menu, nd then select Appliction unlock. If no pssword hs been set, you cn leve these fields blnk nd just click OK in the window to enter the pssword. "Mking Security Settings" p.27

30 Solving Network Connection Problems 30 Try these solutions depending on your network environment. "Solving Problems" p.29 "Solutions When You Cnnot Find Connected Projectors (Wired)" p.30 Check the computer's network settings. Enble LAN settings on your computer. Check Control Pnel > System > Hrdwre > Device Mnger. "Solving Network Connection Problems" p.30 Solutions When You Cnnot Find Connected Projectors (Wired) When you cnnot connect the projector over network using wired connection, try the following solutions. If you cnnot resolve the problem, contct your network dministrtor. Check the sttus of the externl devices used for the network connection or the projector's setting environment. Connect the network cble securely. Use commercilly vilble 100BASE-TX or 10BASE-T LAN cble. To prevent mlfunctions, use ctegory 5 or higher shielded LAN cble. Check the projector's network settings. Set DHCP to Off. When DHCP is set to On, it my tke some time to enter LAN stndby sttus if n vilble DHCP server is not found. Go to Network > Network Configurtion > Wired LAN > DHCP or Network > Network Configurtion > Wired LAN > IP Settings > DHCP. Set the IP ddress, the subnet msk, nd the gtewy ddress for the projector correctly. Close network settings on the projector, nd then return to the LAN stndby screen.

31 Solving Problems When Updting 31 See the following section for solutions to problems tht my occur when updting. Check tht EsyMP Network Updter ws running t the scheduled updte time.
