Outlook Troubleshooting (Express) If you are experiencing problems sending or receiving in Outlook Express, here are a few things that may help fix the problem. The main cause of most issues is simply an altered or incorrect account setting. First, go to Tools and then click on Accounts. Next, click on the Mail tab. 16
Your account will be listed here. Click on the account name to highlight it and the click Properties on the right hand side. With the General tab selected, make sure all of the User Information entered is correct. Both the address and the Reply address should be your full e- mail address (the same address as your webmail). In the very top text box under Mail Account it should read mail.yourdomain.com For example, if your domain is you would type in mail.testsite.com in the text box. Now click on the Servers tab. The Incoming mail server should be set to POP3. In the Incoming mail (POP3) box, it should read mail.yourdomain.com For example, if your domain is you would type in mail.testsite.com for your incoming mail server. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, it should read smtp.yourdomain.com Once again, as an example, if your domain is you would type in smtp.testsite.com for your outgoing mail server. 17
Now make sure the Account name (same as your webmail account) as well as password are entered correctly. At the very bottom of the dialog box, make sure the My server requires authentication box is checked. Finally, click on the Advanced tab and ensure that the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number is set to 25 and the Incoming mail (POP3) port number is set to 110. (The two secure connection (SSL) check boxes should NOT be checked as the picture suggests) Click OK when finished. If everything seemed to be correct and Outlook is still not functioning properly, go back to the Servers tab in Properties (if you don t remember how to get there look at the instructions above) and change the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) to smtp.everyone.net If this does not work go back to the Advanced tab in Properties and change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server port to 2525, its alternate port. If Outlook is still not functioning properly, please refer to the support section of this guide. 18
Windows Mail (Vista) Troubleshooting First, click on Tools, then Accounts. Click on the account that you need to verify and select Properties. Click the Servers tab. Make sure the Incoming mail server is set to POP3. In the Outgoing mail (SMTP) box, make sure it is smtp.yourdomain.com Once again, as an example, if your domain is you would type in smtp.testsite.com for your outgoing mail server. 19
Now make sure that your Incoming Mail Server username and password are correct. The username should be your FULL . (same as your webmail) (Example: At the very bottom, ensure that the My server requires authentication box is checked. Click on the Advanced tab. Make sure that the Outgoing mail (SMTP) port number is set to 25 and the Incoming mail (POP3) port number is set to 110. Click OK when finished. If everything seemed to be correct and your is still not functioning properly, go back to the Servers tab in Properties (if you don t remember how to get there look at the instructions above) and change the Outgoing Mail (SMTP) to smtp.everyone.net If this does not work go back to the Advanced tab in Properties and change the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server port to 2525, its alternate port. If Windows Mail is still not functioning properly, please refer to the support section of this guide. 20
