2 ABOUT US Our History: The Pharmacy Technician Society of British Columbia was founded in May 2011 to provide leadership and support for Pharmacy Technicians and Pharmacy Assistants pursuing professional development. Our Mission: To maximize member services and enhance the professional practice of pharmacy personnel through education and improved communication Our Vision: The Pharmacy Technician Society of British Columbia is the leader for Pharmacy Technicians and Assistants in BC, and plays an integral part in optimizing pharmacy services. Our Values: We do what we say; We do it with respect; We do it fairly; We do it with integrity; We work as a team; We are accountable for our actions CONFERENCE OBJECTIVE The objective of this conference is to provide educational programming to advance pharmacy practice, increase knowledge of pharmacy personnel, and enhance the quality of pharmaceutical care provided to patients. The event will open with an exhibit and evening networking reception with a surprise guest presentation. Saturday will be a full day of learning with an exciting keynote presentation. 4 SPEAKERS Sam Louie Master of Ceremonies Sam Louie actively served over 34 years leading his Pharmacy team at Lions Gate Hospital and has inspired many personnel through his role as a Frontline Leadership trainer. He currently continues his academic teaching as an adjunct professor, for the Pharmacy Doctorate program at UBC and as an instructor for the Regulated Pharmacy Technician Program at Vancouver Community College. Wayne Lee took a childhood interest in magic and a fascination with visualization and transformed himself from school teacher into comedic hypnotist and mind-power expert. Wayne Lee is a former five-time Canadian amateur wrestling champion who knows the mental focus that is essential in achieving success. Wayne s unrelenting passion for entertaining and empowering people has led him to present for over 3,000 audiences worldwide. He was named Entertainer of the Year for The Canadian Events Industry. Wayne has appeared on national television shows, radio programs and has presented to clients such as IBM, General Motors, Princess Cruise Lines, Women Network, the Direct Selling Women s Alliance and many more. Wayne is committed to showing audiences how to wake up the power of their mind to create more fun and success. Bob Nakagawa, B.Sc.(Pharm.), RPEBC, ACPR, FCSHP Bob Nakagawa is the Registrar of the College of Pharmacists of British Columbia. Bob has over 30 years of pharmacy experience in British Columbia. He has a pharmacy degree from UBC and a residency in hospital pharmacy from St. Paul's Hospital in Vancouver and is a Fellow of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists. He has worked in hospital and in government developing innovative services and policies. Bob is an expert in public drug plan management and has provided advice to federal, provincial and international governments in this area.

5 Bob was President of the College of Pharmacists of BC, and of the Canadian Society of Hospital Pharmacists for both the BC Branch and at the national level. He was the Chair of the Medical Services Commission, the Drug Benefits Committee for BC PharmaCare, and the Federal Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee for Canada. He has also been a speaker at numerous events, including BCPhA, CPhA, and the Health Council of Canada. In his spare time, he is an amateur photographer and is an avid runner and cyclist. Prior to joining the College of Pharmacists of BC, Bob was the Assistant Deputy Minister Pharmaceutical Services, BC Ministry of Health.

We have arranged a block of rooms at the host venue River Rock Casino Resort. Conference Early Bird rate for rooms is $ tax and will be available until September 2 nd, Registrants must make their own accommodation arrangements. Parking is complimentary for registrants. ACCREDITATION The content for this conference will be submitted to UBC Continuing Pharmacy Education for review for Continuing Education Credits. By registering for the PTSBC Conference, you have provided your release for the free use by PTSBC for promotional purposes of any photographs taken of you or in which you may be seen during the meeting. Delegates are not considered registered until payment is received. Receipts will be handed out at registration on the day of the conference. Online payment will be accepted by Paypal. Please register early to avoid disappointment CANCELLATION POLICY PTSBC reserves the right to restrict enrolment, cancel, postpone, or to otherwise modify program due to inadequate registration or other causes beyond its control. Refunds will be made (less $25 processing charge) only if a written notice of withdrawal is received by September 30 th, No refunds will be made for withdrawals made after that date.
