3 About The KW Pet Expo is owned and produced by Cardinal Conference & Event Solutions (Cardinal Events). At Cardinal Events we have more than 30 years of combined experience in the events industry, digital imaging and legal profession. We work with a diverse team of experienced volunteers with a common vision to bring the community together to learn about the care of pets. Our Philosophy We strive to foster an ethic of social responsibility within our communities. We want to create an environment for current and future pet owners where they can learn and experience the joy of pet ownership. We believe that it is important to educate pet owners of the variety of services and products that are available and connect them to the necessary resources in order to enhance pet responsibility. We also want to provide the opportunity to local pet businesses to share their products and services with the community. Event Information The first annual KW Pet Expo is scheduled for Saturday, May 7 and Sunday, May 8, 2016 at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex. Approximately 100 exhibitors are planning to show a variety of products and services related to the pet industry. Featured at this event will be the Waterloo Regional Police Canine Unit demonstrating how their trained dogs provide a vital service to our community. Also scheduled is the Canadian Kennel Club Canine Good Neighbour Program. This program provides an opportunity, in a non-competitive environment, for the dog and pet owner to demonstrate to an evaluator the ability to control their dog through a 12-step test. The handler will be awarded a CGN certificate if the dog earns a passing mark. Also featured will be the very popular Ultimutts Stunt Dog Show filled with entertaining dog and cat tricks that the audience is sure to love. Another feature at the Expo will be a series of Pet Talks. These presentations will be sponsored by veterinarians, trainers and groomers giving them an opportunity to inform the audience of their expertise. Other possible high draw activities that could be included in the Expo is an exotic rescue petting zoo and pet costume contest. With the support of our sponsors, we will be able to expand on what we will be able to offer. Our vision is to donate a portion of our net profits to a local pet charity. Page 1

4 Page 2 Audience Cardinal Events surveyed 100 people in the Waterloo Region to help better understand the local residents and what their interests are when it comes to pets. When conducting our market research we discovered that 81% of pet owners were interested in attending the KW Pet Expo. From those interested in attending, 95% were interested in pet services, 90% would like to know more about pet food and another 72% were interested in pet merchandise such as leashes and collars. Based on this research, we can see a clear demand for a pet exposition that will offer pet owners and potential pet owners more knowledge on products and services that could be useful to them. Results are based on market research by connecting face-to-face and on-line to the local community ANTICIPATED ATTENDEE DEMOGRAPHICS 81% dog owners and 25% cat owners 90% are interested in learning more about pet food and treats 72% are interested in pet merchandise 95% are interested in pet services from a veterinarian, trainer and/or groomer 58% are interested in obtaining their next pet from an adoption or rescue agency

5 Page 3 Event Promotion Marketing communication for the KW Pet Expo will be a key component in getting the word out to our primary audience. In order to achieve our goal of 7,000 attendees for a first year event, our strategy is to incorporate media, online and print marketing to connect with the community. Our plan includes: an official website connecting with social media such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and Pinterest direct blasts radio promotion posting on local community event calendars lawn signs at major intersections throughout Kitchener-Waterloo posters at local community centres and businesses postcards and flyers distributed to residential areas and also provided to vendors and sponsors to promote to their clientele. Attendee Bag Maximum size of sponsor s one piece of promotional material must be no larger than 9 x 12 and up to 4 pages in total. 3,000 pieces must be supplied to Show Management no later than May 1, Promotional pieces received after May 1, 2016 may not be included in the bag. Floor Real Estate List: KW Pet Expo provides the marketing opportunity. Sponsor is responsible to provide items for placement. Option to place a logoed floor message at front entrance (one spot), entrance to show floor (one spot), aisle and/or stairwell. Option to provide signage in key areas on the trade show floor.
