These 2 modes are user adjusable. The uni will be facory se in he UPS mode. Depending on weaher and uiliy condiions, users can manually adjus or use he monioring sofware o swich o he Energy saving mode. The main difference beween UPS and Energy saving mode is he amoun of energy conserved. Under he UPS mode, he uni will remain in he Bypass mode as long as uiliy is available. Thus less energy is conserved (refer o Fig. 4.1 for UPS mode conrol logic). Under he Energy saving mode, he prioriy of inpu source chosen is solar panel AC main baery. If available, he CPU will selec exernal solar panels as is firs prioriy in order o conserve energy. In case of insufficien solar power and uiliy failure, baery power will be drawn as he las resor. When he capaciy of baeries is around 1~2%, he CPU will remind end users by coninuously sending ou warning siren unil he sysem shus down. 5

In he meanime, i will acivae boh he AC charger and solar charger o simulaneously charge he baeries. 2: When he baeries are full (baery volage around 28.5V), boh he AC and solar charger will be urned off by he CPU o preven overcharging and reducing he baery lifeime. In he meanime, he sysem will remain in he "Bypass Mode" and AC elecriciy provided o he loads is coming from public uiliy. 6

9 3: A his ime period, TN-15 is sill in he Bypass mode. The baery volage level will decrease gradually due o sandby power dissipaion. When he baeries are consumed o around 75% of heir capaciy (baery volage around 26.5V) he CPU will resar he charger. The CPU will use charging curren of 3A as a guide poin. When he provided charging curren is under 3A, he AC charger will be urned (e.g. Nigh ime or cloudy day). As for charging curren of over 3A, he solar charger will be urned insead. 4: If he energy provided by he charger is larger han wha is consumed by he load, volage of baery bank will increase gradually unil 28.5V is reached hen he CPU will be shu off he charger o preven overcharging. A his poin, oupu load is sill supplied by uiliy. 5: Since he chargers are in he mode, he baery volage will gradually decrease o he range of 26.5~28.5V (floaing volage level). If uiliy were o fail a his momen, he CPU will auomaically swich (<1ms) o he inverer mode insuring uninerruped power. 6: Once uiliy recovers, he CPU will swich back o he bypass mode. 7: When baery volage drops o below 26.5V, he baery charger will be acivaed o charge he baery bank (refer o 3 for deailed descripion). 8: Same as 4. 9: Due o lack of uiliy, TN-15 will swich o he inverer mode. AC charging funcion will be urned off. Since AC oupu relies purely on baery power, he baery bank will be depleed raher quickly. 1: As he baery discharges o below 26.5V and uiliy remains unavailable. Only he solar charger is urned. The baery bank could be depleed raher quickly. 11: Same as Energy Saving mode. 12: When solar charger is providing curren of larger han 3A, he volage level of he baery bank will rise slowly. Once he baery volage reaches inverer mode reacivaion level, he inverer will be revived. 7
