1 RIVERBED Accelerates Their Growth How Optimal s international managed service solution helped a market leading networking technologies provider achieve rapid growth into EMEA A CASE STUDY

2 BACKGROUND Riverbed Technology is the pioneer and, with over 4,500 customers, the worldwide technology and market share leader in wide-area data services (WDS). Riverbed provides the first and only comprehensive WDS solution to a host of severe problems that have effectively prevented enterprises from sharing applications and data across wide areas. By wide area, we mean anywhere in the world, Chicago to New York or Seattle to Shanghai. Riverbed's award-winning Steelhead WDS appliances address all of the issues that affect application performance over the WAN, dramatically improving the performance of applications that companies and knowledge workers rely on every day - including file sharing, , backup, document management systems, IT tools, as well as ERP and CRM solutions. With Riverbed, any of these applications can be accelerated somewhere between 5 and 50, and even up to 100 times faster. THE MODEL: - On-site Managed Service for the recruitment of all functions to include Sales, Pre Sales, Support, Marketing, Finance and G&A from Administrative roles through to VP level across the EMEA theatre. Target headcount increases in the following territories: Northern - UK, Ireland, Nordics Central - Germany, Russia, Poland, Austria, Switzerland Southern - France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Netherlands Emerging Markets - Middle East and South Africa

3 THE SITUTATION In 2007, Riverbed was undergoing an aggressive growth programme within a particularly short timeframe. Riverbed had struggled to partner with a recruitment process outsource company (RPO) due to the following reasons: Cost (Large monthly retainers and subsequent fees) Flexibility Ability to Scale Understanding Riverbed s culture and business Time to hire A number of recruitment objectives were set: Improve candidate quality at shortlist and hire Reduce the lead time from headcount approval to offer acceptance Reduce cost per hire Increase diversity representation in the candidate pools Improve client experience (both hiring manager and candidate) Ensure full access to the candidate marketplace (passive and active candidates) The existing HR infrastructure was unable to scale quickly enough to deliver against these objectives. Riverbed needed an adaptable external partner to provide the resources and expertise necessary to achieve the aggressive growth plan and ultimately their corporate goals. Optimal Staffing became this partner in EMEA

4 THE SOLUTION Optimal Staffing s solution provided an experienced site team to partner the existing HR operations. Within six months a recruitment team of six were fully trained and brought on board to cover all hires across Northern, Southern, Central and Eastern Europe, with two representatives from Optimal on site. This team consisted of five experienced recruiters and a senior researcher. THE RESULT From May 2007 to Date Total Hires 89 By Function By Region G & A 9% Support 18% PS 2% RSM 26% Central 28% Emerging 9% Northern 41% ISR 12% Marketing 7% SE 22% Channel 4% Southern 22% Cost saving (based on agency use at 20%) $506, Average time per hire EMEA average 60 days, approx 39 days (this is not quantifiable due to a change in reporting tool but Marcus Chambers testimonial is indicative of the results.) Attrition Rate Less than 4.5%
