3 MARKET REPORT SAP/CRM/ERP Executive Summary The changing IT market has had a significant impact on the SAP/CRM and ERP space, with the next 12 being no exception. Cloud, Cloud, Cloud! Everything in ERP and CRM is moving to the cloud, allowing clients easier access to more bespoke systems at a fraction of the cost, with ten times the functional capability. This has resulted in less jobs within this sector however those with SaaS experience remain highly sought after. We expect contractor rates to continue to decline as less of these skills are needed per project in Australia. Salaries will continue to rise slowly, however permanent consultants will be expected to understand full systems rather than one specialist area. The demand for the traditional SAP consultant skillsets of SAP FICO and SAP SD etc has certainly dropped dramatically over the past couple of years as SAP also move to the cloud and companies again have cheaper SaaS options to consider. There is still a need for SAP Project Managers to be on the ground in Australia, however the functional/technical configuration can now be done much cheaper overseas, so demand for those consultant roles has decreased. When it comes to growth, SAP HANA and Successfactors are currently big growth areas and professionals from overseas with experience in multiple implementations are highly sought after. In the CRM space many small to medium clients are implementing SalesForce/Netsuite/MS Dynamics which will offer much more variation of jobs to contractors and permanent consultants. Netsuite is taking huge market growth in the SME market, while SalesForce continues to be the number one choice for CRM. In the ERP space major projects are still sitting within the Government and Banking sector. These projects will continue to keep the contract market busy over the next 12. Despite these projects, as software continues to move to the as a service model, there is less need for IT staff on site at companies to manage the day to day system - good news for companies, but bad news for candidates. The Greythorn survey found that almost half of respondents in this vertical felt insecure in their jobs and a significant 68% intend to change jobs in the next year. Our recommendation for job seekers; if you are an ERP/CRM consultant not working in the cloud then it is time to start looking to move into it. Eventually everything will be as a service and there will be no need for functional consultants, only SaaS Architects who understand the full system.
