All survey responses, comments and insights have been consolidated for this Australian IT Recruitment Market Insights and Salary Guide This survey was carried out during June-July 2015 and distributed via an online questionnaire. 3 JOB SEEKER MARKET REPORT EXECUTIVE SUMMARY I am delighted to provide you with the Greythorn Job Seeker Market Report This report collates the views of over 3000 IT professionals who responded to our annual survey. I am confident the trends and conclusions included in our report will be valuable to hiring organisations looking to navigate the IT market, as well as job seekers who want to be empowered with relevant data about their field of specialisation. The IT market is set to experience significant growth in the coming months in several key sectors including Big Data, Data Analytics, Digital and Mobile, Cloud and Project Services. In particular Greythorn has seen an increased demand in UI & UX Developers, Business Analysts, Regulatory & Compliance Business Analysts and Project Managers and Credit Risk & Market Risk Specialists, along with increased demand for those with Agile experience, and DevOps capabilities. Architecture professionals are also in high demand currently and this looks set to continue over the coming year. All signs point towards a skills shortage, particularly within the UX/Design and development sectors. Top in-demand roles for 2015/16: 1. ReactJS/AngularJS (2.0) Developers 2. UX/Experience Designers 3. DevOps and Automation Engineers 4. Process and Change Analysts 5. Agile/Digital Business Analysts, Project Managers and Scrum Masters 6. Full-stack Developers (.Net/Java/Rails/Scala/ Groovy/Clojure/PHP) 7. Business Intelligence and Data Analytics Consultants 8. Mobile Applications Specialists/Developers 9. Security Consultants Rates and remuneration have stabilised this year, with most job seekers anticipating no change in rates. Sectors where there is significant predicted growth can expect to see some increase. When it comes to market activity, the number of active job seekers has decreased significantly when compared to past years. Instead, the market is filled with passive candidates; however 61% of those surveyed do intend to change jobs in the next 12 months. In particular, 65% of Project Managers and Business Analysts, are planning on a role change. This is typical of a sector dominated by contract work and transient projects. Those least likely to change roles are within the database development and administration sector. In line with this market activity, the Greythorn survey found that job seekers are more optimistic this year. Even more so were hiring managers, of which only 22% took a pessimistic view of the future. Job security remains at a similar level to In good news for management teams, the majority of job seekers are fairly satisfied in their roles this year, with results less polarized than those of This corresponds with increased satisfaction and optimism, job seekers are more likely to recommend their employer to a friend this year than in When it comes to attraction, job seekers and hiring managers differ slightly. The most important attractor for job seekers is remuneration and benefits, however hiring mangers believed this was the fifth most important attractor.
