2 INTRODUCTION April 2015 Welcome to the Davidson Technology Salary Guide for April The past six months have been an encouraging period for the technology recruitment market in Australia and New Zealand. In 2015 we have seen hiring intentions increase. While some organisations remain tight fisted about their technology spend, many CLevel leaders have identified the need to invest to meet the fastpaced changes that technology is having on society and consumer habits. Organisations are responding by using technology to improve and enable their customer engagement strategy, or continue cost saving measures and business process improvement. We are seeing a number of significant examples in Australia and New Zealand where skill demands cannot be met locally. We are experiencing a significant uplift in the need to source technology talent from overseas markets where new and innovative technologies are more mature. There has been a notable increase in demand for contract professionals such as Project Managers, Business Analysts and functional experts in nonresource sector reliant economies. Digital and Mobile technology continues to be the key business driver for many organisations seeking competitive advantage and wider access to their customer base. Key areas of demand in this area include Ruby on Rails, Native Mobile Developers (Android and ios),.net and Java Developers as well as User Experience (UX) and Product specialists. We continue to experience ongoing demand for quality software development professionals; particularly Polyglot (multilanguage) and Programmers with skills in a variety of object oriented languages as clients seek to build a more flexible workforce. More employers expect developers with stakeholder management skills, testdriven development and pair programming experience, continuous integration and Agile working methodologies. With ongoing ERP initiatives in the market (often attached to M&A) we are observing reasonable demand in SAP functional skills. In addition we are seeing strong demand in Cloud, BigData, Analytics and Business Intelligence and document management experts.
