2 2016 GME-Macy Foundation Summit: Developing an Innovative Blueprint to Address Training and Retention of Rural Practitioners, Mental Health Issues, and Interprofessional Education Focus We are pleased to join with the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation in convening medical leaders, health professions educators, and other healthcare professionals to showcase innovations and share promising models to address training and retention of rural practitioners, mental health care issues, and interprofessional education in graduate medical education in our region. Educational Objectives After attending the conference, participants should be able to Describe the current practices across the southern regional academic and healthcare institutions and design an innovative blueprint to improve the training and retention of rural practitioners (Knowledge, Competence); Identify the need for more mental health professionals in the southwest region and develop a program to facilitate, retain and reform the mental health field (Knowledge, Competence); Promote interprofessional education in graduate medical education to transform and improve the quality of the training programs, thus producing a competent workforce to improve the care provided (Knowledge, Competence, Performance, Patient Outcomes). Educational Methods Lectures Panel Discussions Question and Discussion Sessions
3 Target Audience This conference should be of value to practicing healthcare professionals involved in graduate medical education and training. Evaluation A course evaluation form will provide participants with the opportunity to comment on the value of the program content to their practice decisions, performance improvement activities, or possible impact on patient health status. Participants will also have the opportunity to comment on any perceived commercial bias in the presentations as well as to identify future educational topics. Accreditation/ Credit Designation PHYSICIANS The University of Texas Cancer Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The University of Texas Cancer Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.75 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. CME CERTIFICATES AND ATTENDANCE VERIFICATION CERTIFICATES Certificates awarding AMA PRA Category 1 Credit or certificates documenting attendance will be distributed to participants as they depart the symposium. To obtain a CME certificate, physicians must submit a completed evaluation questionnaire and a CME Verification Form. Upon request, a record of attendance (certificate) will be provided on-site to other health care professionals requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations. 6 Registration Information On-site registration opens at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 16, 2016, and will continue through Wednesday, February 17, The conference will begin at 8:15 a.m. and adjourn at 3:30 p.m. Advance registration is encouraged as space and materials are limited. Complimentary registration includes the tuition, program, continental breakfast, breaks, lunch, and the Welcome Reception which will be held on Tuesday, February 16 from 6-8 p.m. in the foyer of the Duncan Building (CPB), Floor 8.
