2 Course Description Clinical Reviews seeks to update physicians on the latest recommendations involving the medical subspecialties important for the primary care physician through a comprehensive program consisting of lectures, panel and roundtable discussions on problems of general interest in various areas of medicine, surgery, and pediatrics relevant to clinical practice. Members of the staff of Mayo Clinic are faculty for this comprehensive program of lectures, small group luncheon roundtables, and in-depth evening discussions. Identical programs will be presented during both the October and November sessions. Course Highlights Course app containing all presentations with note-taking capabilities Content focused on the needs of the primary care provider in the clinical practice Concise didactic lectures Dedicated question and answer sessions throughout the course Pre-course SAM modules Breakout sessions for personalized course experience Program Schedule The full program schedule will be available soon at: or Listed below are topics to be covered during Clinical Reviews: Cardiology Dermatology Gastroenterology Geriatics Neurology Oncology Orthopedics Pediatrics Perioperative Medicine Psychiatry Pulmonology Women s Health Credit Mayo Clinic College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians. Mayo Clinic College of Medicine has approved this live activity for AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. AAFP Application for CME credit has been filed with the American Academy of Family Physicians. Determination of credit is pending. Other Health Care Professionals A certificate of attendance will be provided to other health care professionals for requesting credits in accordance with state nursing boards, specialty societies, or other professional associations. Date and Location The 88th Annual Clinical Reviews will be held October 27-29, 2014 and November 10-12, Course headquarters will be located at the Mayo Civic Center, 30 Civic Center Drive, SE,. The Mayo Civic Center is located within a few blocks from downtown hotels and is joined by a skyway system. The registration fee includes tuition, comprehensive course syllabus (electronic), daily continental breakfasts, break refreshments, and all luncheons. In addition, a complimentary reception will be hosted by Mayo Clinic on Monday, October 27 and Monday, November 10. Although it is not Mayo School of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) policy to limit the number of registrants for a course, conference room facilities may necessitate closing of enrollment; therefore, early registration is advised. The tour includes a 20-minute film on the history and operation of the Mayo Clinic plus visits to points of interest in the Mayo, Plummer and Hilton Buildings. Pre-Course Sessions: ABFM Self-Assessment Modules (MOC-FP) Sunday, October 26, 2014 Coronary SAM Sunday, November 19, 2014 Hypertension SAM Pre-Course Description On each of the two Sundays preceding Clinical Reviews, a different MC-FP Self- Assessment Module (SAM) Working Group activity will be offered. In this group learning experience, attendees will work together, facilitated by expert Mayo Clinic faculty, to review and discuss the SAM core competency questions and to decide as a group on the best answers. After completing the session, Mayo staff will report the group s answers and individual s participation to the ABFM. Later, participants must individually access the ABFM web site, pay the necessary fees, and complete the clinical simulation section (which presents patient care scenarios corresponding to the topic module) in order to complete and receive final credit for the SAM.
4 Please note: There is a separate registration fee for the Self-Assessment sessions; attendees will be individually responsible for the additional ABFM fees required before completing the clinical simulation section. Anyone is welcome to register for and attend the Pre-Course sessions only. Pre-Course Credit Mayo Clinic College of Medicine is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
