1 To istall BaaERP Widows This chapter describes: The hardware ad software requiremets for BaaERP Widows (BW) The istallatio procedure for the BaaERP Widows software BaaERP Widows (BW) is a graphical user iterface (GUI) program i BaaERP. It rus o a Itel-compatible PC i a Widows 95, 98 or Widows NT 4.0 (or higher) eviromet. BW displays BaaERP as a applicatio with the same look ad feel as a ative Widows applicatio. Hardware ad software requiremets You eed the followig software ad hardware before you ca istall BaaERP Widows (BW). The operatig system Widows 95, 98 Widows NT Workstatio or Widows NT Server must be istalled ad ruig. The system o which BaaERP Widows must be istalled, must be at least a Itel-based system with a 50 Mhz 486DX processor. Furthermore, BaaERP Widows requires at least a SVGA video display, 16 MB of mai memory (RAM), ad 20 MB of free disk space. A etwork adapter that supports TCP/IP. The TCP/IP etwork software must be istalled ad ruig. 1-1
To istall BaaERP Widows To istall the BaaERP Widows (BW) software NOTE To istall the BaaERP Widows (BW) software, you ca follow oe of these procedures: If you have a UNIX or AS/400 BaaERP server, the BaaERP Widows (BW) software ca be copied from the server to the cliet. Use ftp to copy the software from the directory $BSE/mswidows/BW/i386 to a temporary directory o the cliet. Double-click the file setup.exe. This starts the BW istallatio program. If the cliet has a local CD-ROM drive (ad you have the BaaERP distributio CD-ROM for Widows NT), you ca istall BaaERP Widows (BW) directly, by usig the BaaERP distributio CD-ROM. If ot, you must share the CD-ROM of the server. The descriptio below assumes that your cliet has a local CD-ROM drive ad is ruig the Widows NT operatig system. Take the followig steps to istall BaaERP Widows. 1 Close all ruig applicatios ad isert the BaaERP distributio CD-ROM i the CD-ROM drive. 2 A Welcome message appears. Click Next. 3 A Software Licece Agreemet message scree appears. Click Yes. 1-2
To istall BaaERP Widows 4 The Select Baa sofware eviromet dialog box appears. Click Istall New Eviromet if you perform a ew istallatio, ad eter a ame for the ew istallatio. If you wat to upgrade a existig BW istallatio, you must click Select Existig Eviromet. I additio, you must select the existig eviromet to be upgraded from the list box. Click Next to cotiue. 1-3
To istall BaaERP Widows 5 The Choose Destiatio Locatio dialog box appears. NOTE Accept the default path or click Browse to eter aother path (if you supply a o-existig directory, you will be asked if the istall wizard has to create the directory). Click Next to cotiue. Oly if you are istallig from the BaaERP BackOffice distributio CD- ROM, the dialog box show i step 6 appears. I all other istallatio scearios you must skip step 6, ad cotiue the istallatio with step 7. 1-4
To istall BaaERP Widows 6 The Setup Type dialog box appears. You ca select the followig server types: User Iterface This type is a BaaERP Widows (BW) cliet. User Iterface ad Logic This type is a stripped versio of a BaaERP Widows NT server (with local applicatio logic). Full (Icludig Applicatio Files ad Database) This type is the full istallatio of the complete BaaERP Widows NT server versio. Select User Iterface ad click Next. 7 The Select Program Folder dialog box appears. Select the Program Folder to which the BaaERP Widows icos must be added (default BaaERP) ad click Next. 8 The Setup Iformatio dialog box appears. Click Next to cotiue with the displayed setup (or click Back to chage the displayed setup). 1-5
To istall BaaERP Widows 9 After the software is istalled you must click OK to exit the istallatio script. The BaaERP program folder appears. Double-click the BaaERP ico. The BECS Baa Eviromet ad Cofiguratio Selector widow appears. 10 Select the ew eviromet (preceded with <empty>) ad select the New commad i the File meu. 11 The BW Cofiguratio Properties dialog box appears. Supply the followig iformatio. O the Applicatio Server tab you must fill i the followig fields: Host Name Eter the host ame of the BaaERP server. 1-6
To istall BaaERP Widows NOTE NOTE BSE Eter the path to the BSE eviromet o the BaaERP server (equals the BSE eviromet variable o the BaaERP server). Protocol You ca select (depedig o the protocol that is istalled ad cofigured o the BaaERP server)oe of the followig protocols: Rexec, BaaLogi, ad Uified Logo). For more iformatio about the protocol to be selected, refer to the relevat BaaERP server istallatio guide. If you wat to make use of the Widows Itegrated Security feature, you must select Uified Logo. I this case you will use your curret user idetity to log o to the BaaERP Widows NT server. For Widows 95 ad 98 the uified logo feature will oly work if you are actually logged o to the Widows etwork. You ca oly make use of the Widows Itegrated Security feature if your BaaERP server is a Widows NT server. Portumber Oly if you selected BaaLogi as the protocol to be used, you ca chage the default port umber. If you ited to chage the default, you must be sure that the supplied port umber is the same as the port umber o which the BaaLogi daemo o the server is listeig. Userame Eter a valid user ame as kow o the BaaERP server. If you selected Uified Logo as the protocol to be used, you do ot have to supply a userame, because your curret Widows etwork idetity will be used. Password If this optio is eabled (ot applicable if you use the Uified Logo), your password will be stored i the Baa cofiguratio.bwc file. O the Bshell Eviromet tab you must fill i the followig fields: Bshell Name Eter the applicatio logic to use o the remote BaaERP host (chagig the default of bshell will oly be useful durig debuggig). Commad Eter the optio you wat to pass to the bshell. You ca, for example, defie eviromet variables by usig the followig sytax: -- -set Eviromet Variable1=xxx -set Eviromet Variable2=yyy 1-7
To istall BaaERP Widows NOTE NOTE O the NLS tab, you must fill i the followig box: Locale Select the character set to be used (the default character set is Iteratioal [ISO]). O the Fot tab, fill i the followig box: Fot Type Eter the desired fot type. You ca chage the settig by choosig the butto at the right side of the fot boxes. Fot settigs oly affect character widows of BW (for example, display browser). O the Automatio tab, you ca read i the followig box: Class Name This box cotais the ame of the Baa automatio object Baa.Applicatio.server, where server is the hostame of the BaaERP server you supplied o the Applicatio Server tab. 12 Click OK to save the ew cofiguratio i a cofiguratio file. The BaaERP.bwc files are registered by the Widows NT or Widows 95 operatig system. You ca fid the.bwc files i the directory Lib\User uder the istallatio directory of the BaaERP cliet software. This implies that you ca start a BaaERP logo procedure by double-clickig the ico i frot of the relevat.bwc file i the File Maager. You ca also make BaaERP program icos by draggig the.bwc cofiguratio files to a Program Group. 13 The BECS Baa Eviromet ad Cofiguratio Selector widow is displayed agai. Showig you the ew cofiguratio. You ca start BW by selectig ad double-clickig the etry for the ew cofiguratio. 1-8
To istall BaaERP Widows 14 From the BaaERP Tools meu, choose Software IstallatioÍ Istallatio. Ope the Dowload Help Files (ttadv8245m000) sessio. This sessio has two optios: Dowload help files This commad istalls the Widows Help files o your cliet. Select the Help Groups for which you wat to see Help ad choose Dowload Help Files from the Specific meu. Edit HTML Help trasfer script Whe you istall HTML help o a HTTP server, you must edit the HTML Help trasfer script. This script is used for trasferrig the HTML Help files from the applicatio server to the HTTP server. To execute this script, you eed access to the HTTP server. 1-9

2 Miscellaeous admiistratio tasks This chapter describes miscellaeous admiistratio tasks. It cotais the followig sectios: The istallatio directory of BaaERP Widows (BW) The BaaERP Widows (BW) eviromet variables How to uistall BaaERP Widows Istallatio directory of BaaERP Widows (BW) The istallatio directory C:\Program Files\Baa is created durig the setup process of BaaERP Widows (BW). Durig setup you ca chage this istallatio directory. This sectio assumes you have chose the default ame for the istallatio directory of BaaERP Widows (BW). The followig subdirectories are created i directory C:\Program Files\Baa durig setup: bi This directory cotais the bw.exe program to start the BaaERP applicatio. It also cotais the bwcofig.dll for the cofiguratio program. lib This directory cotais the files bw.tlb (type library iformatio for OLE Automatio) ad tss_bw (laguage support). log This directory cotais loggig iformatio about BaaERP Widows. samples This directory cotais a Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, which outlies the use of OLE Automatio to access BaaERP dyamic lik libraries. tmp This directory cotais the temporary files. help This directory cotais the Help files. 2-1
Miscellaeous admiistratio tasks The followig subdirectories are created i the directory C:\Program Files\Baa\lib. lsif This directory cotais the special character set file xwidows.i. user This directory cotais the cofiguratio files. The followig subdirectories are created i the directory C:\Wit\Baa (for Widows NT) or C:\Widows\Baa (for Widows 95 or 98). Bi This directory cotais all biaries which are shared betwee differet versios of BW, for example, becs.exe. Lib This directory cotais becs.reg (the BW object registratio file). Uist This directory cotais the files eeded to uistall the BaaERP cliet software. 2-2
Miscellaeous admiistratio tasks To uistall the BaaERP Widows cliet The descriptio below assumes that you have more tha oe istalled BaaERP eviromet. If you have just oe istalled eviromet, the uistall program will just ask you to cofirm the uistall operatio. Take the followig steps to uistall BaaERP Widows: 1 Choose Uistall from the Baa folder. The Baa Uistall dialog box appears. 2-3
Miscellaeous admiistratio tasks 2 Click Next. The Select Eviromet dialog box appears. 3 Select the eviromet to be removed ad click Next. The Cofirm Uistall dialog box appears. 2-4

3 BaaERP system policy optios The curret versio of BW supports optios to cetralize the followig cofiguratio actios o the etwork domai cotroller istead of o the local cliet: Password storage BW cofiguratio editig This chapter describes how you ca cetralize these cofiguratio actios o the etwork domai cotroller. Password storage With this BW versio, each user ca store ad retrieve passwords, which are used to autheticate a user to a Baa Applicatio Server. Some secure eviromets do ot wat a BW password to be stored o the local cliet. This would allow malicious idividuals to access the Baa eviromet without loggig o whe such a password file is stole or accidetally put o a shared directory. From this versio of BW this potetial problem is solved by a optio to disable the local storage of the BW password. The eablig or disablig of the password storage ad retrieval feature is related to a registry key settig uder HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE. By default this sectio of the registry ca oly be updated by a perso with system admiistrators rights. The system admiistrator ca disable the local storage of BW cliets by takig the followig steps: 1 Log o as user with admi rights o the Widows NT server that is the domai cotroller of the Widows etwork. 2 Copy the C:\Program Files\Baa\Lib\bw.adm file (from a BW cliet) to the directory C:\WINNT\INF o the domai cotroller. 3 Start the System Policy Editor. 4 Select the Policy Template from the Optios meu. 5 Click Add, ad select C:\WINNT\INF\bw.adm. 3-1
BaaERP system policy optios 6 Click Ope. The C:\WINNT\INF\bw.adm is added i the Policy Template dialog box. Select this etry ad click OK. 7 Select the Ope Policy commad from the File meu i the System Policy Editor dialog (or New Policy if you wat to add oe). 8 Select the systems (or groups of systems) for which you wat to disable local password storage, ad select the Properties commad i the Edit meu. 9 Disable local storage as show below ad click OK. 3-2
BaaERP system policy optios BW cofiguratio editig I some eviromets, BW cofiguratio files are stored o a shared drive ad maaged cetrally by a system admiistrator. I such a cofiguratio, it is ot desirable that each idividual user ca create, delete ad modify BW cofiguratio files. Therefore a optioal feature is added which allows that system admiistrators ca oly do these activities. The system admiistrator ca disable local cofiguratio editig by takig the followig steps: 1 Log o as user with admi rights o the Widows NT server that is the domai cotroller of the Widows etwork. 2 Copy the C:\Program Files\Baa\Lib\bw.adm file (from a BW cliet) to the directory C:\WINNT\INF o the domai cotroller. 3 Start the System Policy Editor. 4 Select the Policy Template from the Optios meu. 5 Click Add, ad select C:\WINNT\INF\bw.adm. 6 Click Ope. The C:\WINNT\INF\bw.adm is added i the Policy Template dialog box. Select this etry ad click OK. 7 Select the Ope Policy commad from the File meu i the System Policy Editor dialog (or New Policy if you wat to add oe). 8 Select the user (or groups of users) for which you wat to disable local cofiguratio editig, ad select the Properties commad i the Edit meu. 3-3
