Kowledge of FTP capabilities, ease of use, ad availability o commoly used operatig systems such as Widows, UNIX, Liux, ad z/os ad OS/390, have resulted i FTP usage icreasig at a fatastic rate. Due to the availability of FTP, the cost of additioal cliet software is elimiated, therefore providig immediate ad coveiet access to Eterprise data. FTP is the world stadard for Eterprise data trasfer. As a result, systems admiistrators require visibility of file trasfers to effectively moitor ad cotrol z/os ad OS/390 FTP usage. 6 FTP Data Compressio Implemeted FTP Data Compressio Implemeted Data compressio typically improves etwork lik performace with very little cost i CPU overhead ow implemeted i the Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server. This feature is most beeficial across etworks where lik badwidth may be costraied. Data compressio is desiged to miimize the amout of data set across etworks by reducig occurreces of repetitive data dow to oe- or twobyte represetatios. Priter files, which ted to cotai may repeated blak characters, are good cadidates for data compressio. Users ca choose oe of several compressio techiques described i the Admiistrator Guide. If cofigured at Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server startup, data compressio is active for a give FTP sessio oly if requested by the FTP cliet. ISPF Statistics Hadlig Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server ow provides cotrol over how ISPF statistics are icluded i the directory etries of target PDS members. ISPF statistics for the target PDS member ca either be exported from the source PDS member, or created or updated by the Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server. These statistics iclude: Create or chage dates Modificatio level or versio Module sizes User ID See the User ad Admiistrator Guides for details. Machie Carriage Cotrol Support Support for the trasfer of files cotaiig machie carriage cotrol characters is icluded i Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server. The FTP user must select trasmissio type of E ("TYPE E") before issuig a FTP data trasfer commad for sedig/receivig machie carriage cotrol (that is, RECFM=FM) data sets. 1 2 Release Summary

7 Migratio Aid for Users of IBM TCP/IP for MVS FTP Server Migratio Aid for Users of IBM TCP/IP for MVS FTP Server A migratio aid is provided that will create or update a set of Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server cofiguratio parameters that are comparable to a existig set of IBM TCP/IP for MVS FTP Server cofiguratio statemets is ow available. Load Module Trasfer Load module trasfer allows MVS load modules to be trasferred betwee load libraries o differet hosts or the same host. The FTP cliets ad servers participatig i the load module trasfer ca be either Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server compoets or IBM Commuicatios Server for OS/390 FTP Server compoets. For load module trasfer to be successful, all Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server compoets must be at a miimum release 6.0 SP1. All IBM Commuicatios Server for OS/390 FTP Server compoets must be at a miimum release of V2R10. See the User Guide for details. Commo INET (CINET) Stack Recovery The Uiceter TCPaccess FTP Server may be otified by CINET whe a ew trasport provider is started. The otificatio is ot received immediately after the ew trasport provider becomes active, but rather whe the FTP Server ext accepts a coectio. This coectio must ecessarily come through a trasport provider other tha the trasport provider just started. Whe the otificatio is received, the FTP Server eables itself to accept coectios from all active CINET trasport providers, icludig the trasport provider just started. 8 User Cotrol of Creatio of Raveled Files User Cotrol of Creatio of Raveled Files Usig the RAVEL parameter of the SITE commad you ca specify whether or ot a file should be raveled. Whe the FTP server stores or retrieves a file, the followig criteria determie whether the file will be raveled: If the record structure was specified (usigthe STRU R commad), the file will ot be raveled If SITE RAVEL is specified, the file will be raveled If SITE NORAVEL is specified, the file will ot be raveled. If it is a RETR operatio ad the iput file is a JES spool data set, the file will ot be raveled. If the records are blocked (RECFM icludes B), the file will ot be raveled.
