5 1 Itroductio 1.1 Dimesioig of electrical etworks with SIMARIS desig With SIMARIS desig it is possible to dimesio electrical etw orks from medium voltage to the w all outlet o the basis of real products, i compliace w ith all the relevat stadards (VDE, IEC) ad reflectig the preset state of the art. Withi the scope of the specificatios required for the calculatio, etw ork operatig modes ad sw itchig states ca be freely defied. Shortcircuit curret, load flow, voltage drop ad eergy balace are calculated. The requiremets as to persoal, short-circuit ad overload protectio are also automatically icluded i the calculatio. Dimesioig also icludes the busbar trukig systems required for pow er trasmissio. It is also possible to dimesio complete motor starter combiatios. The professioal versio of SIMARIS desig additioally provides the follow ig optios: Dimesioig of etw orks w ith parallel etw ork operatio, also w ith simultaeous operatio of trasformers ad geerators Automatic selectivity evaluatio Represetatio of isolated etw orks Passive ad active chageover i the emergecy pow er supply Cosideratio of eergy efficiecy aspects w ithi et plaig 1.2 System requiremets The follow ig equipmet is required as miimum to ru SIMARIS desig: Processor: Itel Core i3 / AMD Pheom II X4 4 GB RAM Free hard disk space: 400 MB (if a coutry is selected) up to 2.5 GB (if all coutries are selected) Scree resolutio - Format 4:3: 1280x1024 (recommeded 1400x1050) - Format 16:9: 1366x768 (recommeded 1680x1050) Supported operatig systems: Widow s 7, Widow s 8 Supported MS-Office versios: Office 2007, Office Setup istructios Setup from DVD Close all other applicatios o your computer. Isert the SIMARIS DVD ito the DVD drive ad start setup.exe. The setup w izard guides you through the istallatio ad allow s ot oly the istallatio of SIMARIS desig but also the istallatio of SIMARIS project ad SIMARIS curves. SIMARIS project is ot available for all coutries because of the product portfolio that is itegrated i the softw are, so that this program ca oly be istalled if you have selected oe of the respective coutries i the coutry selectio. Follow the istructios of the setup w izard. The istallatio of SIMARIS desig ca be implemeted as local or as etw ork istallatio. After istallatio, please check w hether updates are available ad istall them. To check w hether updates are available, you ca iitiate a query provided that your computer is coected to the Iteret via Help meu 31 àto "Start Olie Update", provided that your computer is coected to the Iteret. The you ca istall available updates olie. Aother optio is to use the Help meu 31 à "Dow load Update Package" to ope the update page o the Simaris w ebsite, dow load the update package ad istall it maually afterw ards. This w ebsite, w hich provides updates for the SIMARIS plaig tools, ca also be accessed by clickig the w w w.siemes.com/simaris/update Setup after dowload Request a dow load lik at w w w.siemes.com/simaris/dow load by eterig ad sedig your data. The dow load lik w ill be set to you by . Havig dow loaded the zip file that ca be accessed through this lik, upack it o the hard disk of your computer ad the start setup_sd60.exe. The setup w izard w ill guide you through the istallatio. Follow the istructios of the setup w izard. The istallatio of SIMARIS desig ca be implemeted as local or as etw ork istallatio. 6 1.3.3 Registratio The softw are may be used i a demo mode for 20 days after its istallatio. Oly those days are couted o w hich you actually ope the program. I order to be able to use SIMARIS desig permaetly, you must register o the Iteret at w w w.siemes.com/simaris/register. Please eter your data there ad request a licece by submittig the form. This licece w ill the be set to you by w ithi half a hour. If you have obtaied a SIMARIS desig professioal versio, please esure that you have your authorisatio code at had, sice you w ill oly receive a licece offerig the exteded fuctioality of the professioal versio of SIMARIS desig if you have etered this authorisatio code. The licece of the basic versio of SIMARIS desgi etitles you to use SIMARIS desig permaetly, w ithout eablig the additioal fuctios of the professioal versio. As log as the licece key has ot bee read i, you w ill be asked w hether you w at to read i the licece key ow durig every program start or respectively, w hether you w ould like to register ow or later. Clickig the "Eter licece key" butto starts the import process of your licece key. The brow ser opes w here you ca set the file path of your licece key ad select the licece file idetified by the file extesio.lic-sd. As soo as you ope this file, the licece file is read i ad the program is started. Clickig the "Register ow " butto automatically opes the registratio page for the SIMARIS tools provided you are olie. How to proceed from there w as decribed i the previous sectio. Clickig the "Register later" butto takes you straight to the program, but you w ill agai be prompted to register durig the ext program start. You ca iitiate the licece key import w hile the program is ruig usig the Tools meu 25 à "Licece". 6

7 1.3.4 Setup ad use of atioal versios I the setup w izard you ca choose techology packages w hich you w at to istall from a coutry list. O the oe had, this implies the laguage selectio, because w ith each coutry selectio the atioal laguage ad Eglish are istalled as laguages. O the other had, this also implies the istallatio of the techology package pertaiig to the selected coutry, i.e. the product rage available for the coutry, the techology of w hich complies w ith the regulatios ad coditios of the respective coutry. It is possible to select several coutries w hich is above all ecessary if you are editig projects for differet coutries, because you should, of course, edit each project w ith the relevat techology package oly. If you later w at to edit a project for a coutry w hose techology package / laguage is ot istalled, this ca be made up for w ithout ay problems by restartig the istallatio, selectig a coutry or several further coutries ad thus istallig the required laguages ad techology packages. All istalled coutries ad, if a coutry w as selected, also the associated laguages are displayed for selectio i the program step Project defiitio 38. How ever, the program must be restarted after every chage applied to the selectio. Please ote that you must also reistall ay available updates, sice the updates oly istall that part w hich belogs to the atioal versios already istalled o your computer. How to check w hether a update is available ad how dow load ad istall it, if ecessary, is described i the sectio Setup from DVD 5 ad Setup after dow load 5. Whe havig edited ad dimesioed a project w ith a specific coutry settig ad reopeig this project w hile havig made a differet coutry selectio i SIMARIS desig, the dimesioig ad device selectio of the previous coutry settig is kept first but might ot go w ith the product portfolio available i the ew ly selected coutry or w ith the techology required there. It is therefore absolutely ecessary to restart dimesioig so that the techology ad product selectio relevat for this coutry is made. Whe editig projects for various coutries, the atioal laguage ad Eglish are each provided for editig. This meas, for example, that you ca edit the project i Eglish but ca chage to the atioal laguage for documetatio purposes. Or you ca sed the project file to the coutry ad the editor there ca ope ad edit the project i the atioal laguage. 7

8 2 Program Iterface ad Structure 2.1 Overview of the program sequece 8

9 2.2 Navigatio bar / workflow bar With the help of the avigatio bar you ca go to the desired program step by directly clickig it. Project defiitio I this program step, you ca eter master ad customer data ad chage the regioal settigs as w ell as the techical settigs of the medium- ad low -voltage side. Netw ork desig I this program step, the actual etw ork is desiged, electrical equipmet is selected ad these elemets are dimesioed either automatically or maually. Project output I this program step, you ca create various output variats to documet your project, w hich you ca prit out, save as files ad also post-edit i parts. SIMARIS desig professioal moreover provides the optio to export a trasfer file for import i SIMARIS project. 2.3 Ico bars Mai widow Create ew project Cut Ope project Copy Save curret project Copy elemet Save curret project as... 10 2.3.2 Network desig The tool bar i Netw ork desig is divided ito 11 sectios relatig to the various fuctioalities, e.g. editor fuctios, graphical etw ork editig, dimesioig, etc. This allow s for fast ad easy editig. All settigs ad optios resultig from this w ill be described i detail i the follow ig Network diagram i a separate widow Move etw ork diagram to separate w idow Clickig this ico opes a ew separate w idow i w hich oly the etw ork diagram ad the correspodig tool bar are displayed. This w idow ca the be dragged oto a secod moitor to get a better overview w hile editig. If you w at to see the etw ork diagram w ithi the origial program w idow agai, click this ico agai to disable the fuctio Selectig elemets ad browsig the etwork diagram Selectio tool Brow se... Havig clicked this ico, you ca select elemets of existig objects i the etw ork diagram, so that their properties are displayed at the bottom left ext to the etw ork diagram. At the same time, ay still active elemet from the library is deactivated. This ico opes a search w idow i w hich you ca search for items of equipmet w ithi the etw ork or project structure accordig to various criteria. I the "Status" sectio you ca check w hether all items have bee dimesioed w ithout error or w hether there are still ay otes or errors left. I the "Netw ork" sectio the etw ork structure is represeted as a tree. I the "Type" sectio, elemets of the etw ork diagram are listed sorted by circuit type, e.g. mai distributio boards, feed-i paths, coupligs, sub-distributio boards... I the "Fial circuits" sectio, the fial circuits cotaied i the etw ork diagram are listed, sorted by the type of fial circuit, e.g. dummy load, capacitor, motor... I the "Selectivity" sectio, the elemets of the etw ork diagram are sorted accordig to the criterio of full or partial selectivity. This sectio, how ever, is oly available i the professioal versio. I additio, you have a text search optio, i.e. you ca search the desigatio of a etw ork diagram elemet. Havig etered the desired text i the appropriate lie i the search w idow, the list w ill be reduced to those circuits that cotai the search w ord. Whe you mark the desired elemet i the results list (the correspodig part is highlighted i blue i the list), the correspodig elemet o the etw ork diagram w ill be marked w ith a blue frame. 10

11 Operatig modes This ico sets the required operatig modes. Set operatig m odes A ew w idow is opeed i w hich the positio of the ifeed ad couplig sw itches (ope or closed) ca be defied by clickig the sw itch w ithi the feeder supply maagemet graphic. The various operatig modes that are required, e.g. ormal operatio ad emergecy operatio, are defied by duplicatig a existig operatig mode. To do so click the correspodig butto ad the defie the required states of the sw itches for the ew operatig mode ad chage the desigatio of the operatig mode. No-permissible combiatios of sw itch positios are documeted by red error messages, e.g., i the operatig-mode diagram. How ever, the defied sw itch positios ad etw ork operatig modes are ot show i the etw ork diagram but are graphically represeted i the project documetatio. Operatig modes ca be activated / deactivated. I the etw ork diagram oly the data for active operatig modes is show. If the dimesioig is started agai, the etw ork is dimesioed oly o basis of active operatig modes. I the follow ig cases, dimesioig is impossible or does ot deliver ay result: Parallel ifeed via a geeral couplig (oly applies to the basic versio) More tha oe pow er source at the target distributio board o the sub-distributio level w ith directioal couplig (oly applies to the professioal versio) Pow er sources ot coected ito the system For further iformatio o this subject, please refer to the sectio Dimesioig ad message list 102 i this Help. 11

12 Dimesioig With these icos the project ca be dimesioed differetly depedig o the requiremets. Usig this ico the etire project ca be dimesioed. Dim esio all circuits This ico serves for dimesioig the selected circuit ad all elemets cotaied therei. Dim esio selected circuit Usig this ico the selected circuit ad all dow stream circuits coected to it are dimesioed. Dimesioig is, how ever, ot performed across coupligs i this case. Dim esio selected circuit For further iformatio o the dimesioig process, please refer to thechapter Dimesioig ad message list i this Help.

13 Network diagram views These icos activate the set of view s available i this program. The etw ork diagram is displayed accordig to the selectio made, i.e. the parameters pertaiig to the selected view are displayed ext to the idividual elemets of the etw ork diagram. Netw ork diagram w ith device parameters Netw ork diagram w ith load flow / load distributio Netw ork diagram w ith short-circuit load Netw ork diagram w ith eergy report Netw ork diagram w ith user-defied labellig This ico is active by default. I this view the follow ig parameters are displayed for the elemets of the etw ork diagram: Automatically geerated elemet desigatio w ith cosecutive umberig Brief descriptio of the elemets Depedig o the type of elemet, further data is displayed, e.g. - rated curret of the elemet - legth of the elemet - reactive pow er of the elemet - rated voltage of the elemet - cable cross sectios - MRPD - umber of poles. This ico activates a view i w hich ot oly the desigatio ad MRPD of the elemets o the etw ork diagram are displayed but also parameters such as - pow er - pow er factor cos j - voltage percetage at this poit i the etw ork - summated voltage drop i percet - simultaeity factor - permissible operatig curret of a coectig lie lz - operatig curret lb ad further techical data. Clickig this ico displays ot oly the ame ad MRPD of the elemets o the etw ork diagram but also the miimum ad maximum short-circuit currets as w ell as further iformatio o the short-circuit stregth. Attetio: Miimum ad maximum short-circuit curret are displayed w ith referece to the umber of poles a elemet has, e.g. for a sigle-pole load Ik 1 mi ad Ik 1 max are displayed. By activatig this ico, the follow ig iformatio is displayed at every mai distributio, sub-distributio ad pow er cosumer: - apparet pow er - active pow er - reactive pow er - rated apparet pow er - loaded phase coductors. If you eed your ow, idividual label cofiguratio of the etw ork diagram, you ca compile such idividual labellig usig the Tools meu 25 à "Settigs" à "Cofigurable etw ork diagram output". This variat of labellig ca be displayed i the program step "Netw ork desig" ad ca be output as a user-defied view i the program step "Project output", as described i the sectio Output types 109. Oly for the Chia coutry settig: Withi this idividual cofiguratio, DI types ca also be selected for the etw ork diagram labellig Selectivity Selectivity view This ico opes a ew, separate w idow w ith the selectivity view. But it is ecessary to select a elemet/sw itchig device i the etw ork diagram first, w hose characteristic curves ad settig optios w ill the be displayed. If the settigs of the elemets are chaged via the regulators displayed o the left of the selectivity view, the characteristic curve i the graphic o the right is sychroously adapted. These chaged settigs are saved, but oly util automatic dimesioig is started, w hich the overw rites these values accordig to the dimesioig results that w ere gaied. If you w at to specify the maually selected settigs permaetly, you ca click o the key symbol show to the right of the slider, thus eablig it. I this case, the specified values w ill ot be overw ritte durig re-dimesioig, they are retaied. Devices w here settigs w ere made accordigly are idetified i the etw ork diagram by a key symbol. Further elemets ca be set by selectig the elemets i the etw ork diagram oe after aother, because the selectivity view alw ays displays the characteristic curves of the elemets curretly selected i the etw ork diagram i the correspodig circuit. 13

14 14 If a protective device w as added to a circuit both dow stream ad upstream of the cable/busbar, the tw o device curves are show i blue (at the begiig of the cable/busbar lie) ad i gree (at the ed of the cable/busbar lie), icludig a tolerace bad. The evelope curves of the upstream devices (referred to the protective devices uder cosideratio) are show i red, the dow stream oes are show i grey. The tw o vertical curves idicate the miimum ad maximum short-circuit curret at this poit. The pik characteristic curve show s the selectivity limit, meaig the short-circuit curret up to w hich the protective device uder cosideratio is selective (curret discrimiatig) to the upstream device. If a higher short-circuit curret flow s, the upstream device, too, or both devices ca trip. The curve colours described above reflect the basic settig for the selectivity diagram. You ca, how ever, adjust the colour settigs for selectivity diagram curves usig the Tools meu à Settigs àselectivity Settigs à I-t diagram scree colours accordig to your ow colour scheme. The leged displayed at the top right i the selectivity diagram describes the curve colours of the curretly show diagram. I order ot to w ipe out the curves i the selectivity diagram, the leged ca be set i such a w ay usig the Tools meu à Settigs àselectivity Settigs that it is automatically miimized ad is oly show elarged/legible durig mouseover.

15 Paper size Set paper size Via the pull-dow meu of the Set paper size ico you ca choose from seve predefied paper sizes ad the optio to specify a user-defied paper size. The curretly set paper size is displayed i the ico o the tool bar usig the symbols from the meu. The predefied paper sizes are each provided w ith a draw ig frame, w hereas the user-defiable paper size is ot. The paper size selected for the overall diagram i this program step should be selected i such a w ay that the letterig is still legible, depedig o the size of the etw ork diagram. I the case of large etw ork diagrams it is possible - also if selectig a large paper size - to split the pritout ito several smaller pages w hich ca the be pieced together agai like a jigsaw puzzle. This is ecessary, for example, if o priter is available for pritig the large paper size. If "Defie page format" is selected from the pull-dow meu, a separate w idow opes for eterig the user-defied settigs for the page format. Here, the w idth ad height of the desired page format ca be etered i mm; the values ca rage from 100 mm to 5,000 mm. Via the meu item "Reload frame" you ca load your ow draw ig frame. After this meu item has bee selected, the brow ser is opeed ad you ca select a file i.dxf or.dw g format, w hich is the displayed as draw ig frame i the graphic area ad ca be used to edit a project. Via the meu item "Chages" you ca add a title block for a chage idex at ay positio i the etw ork diagram. As soo as you have placed the small table i the diagram, e.g. by clickig the left mouse butto, a w idow opes for eterig the data. Whe you click"ok", the data that w as etered is automatically trasferred to the chage idex i the diagram. The chage idex ca be edited ad exteded usig the cotext meu, w hich opes as soo as the mouse poiter is placed o the chage idex i the graphic ad the right mouse butto is pressed. Here you ca do the follow ig w ith the chage idex: 15

16 Expad it by oe lie, i.e. add a ew etry Edit it, i.e. chage existig etries Move it to a suitable free space o the graphic Delete it Scale up / Scale dow Scale up / Scale dow With the scale up ad scale dow icos the size of the elemets i the etw ork diagram ca be chaged i relatio to the page size. Therefore, it is ot a zoom fuctio but a real resizig. Startig from the preset origial size, the elemets ca be scaled dow by a maximum of six stages ad theoretically scaled up edlessly. The thus set size w ill be applied to all elemets of the etw ork diagram ad w ill also apply w he placig further elemets. ATTENTION: Especially w he scalig dow elem ets, this settig is to be checked w ith regard to the legibility of the data o the pritout, because the legibility m ight vary greatly depedig o the priter Alig For the vertical aligmet of mai ad sub-distributio boards, the follow ig optios are provided: Left aligmet, the elemet selected farthest o the left servig as referece poit. Vertically cetred aligmet, the w eighted cetre of all selected elemets servig as referece poit. Right aligmet, the elemet selected farthest o the right servig as referece poit. For the horizotal aligmet of selected elemets, the follow ig optios are provided for aligig the selected elemets: At the level of the top (selected) elemet. I the w eighted horizotal cetre of all selected elemets. At the level of the low est (selected) elemet. To alig a mai or sub-distributio board to a upstream distributio board, it is possible to alig the startig ad ed poit of the coectig lie betw ee the tw o distributio boards vertically horizotally. Selected elemets ca be distributed evely. The respective outermost elemets of the selectio are set as referece poits ad, at regular itervals, the elemets i-betw ee are aliged horizotally. aliged vertically. 16

17 Zoom fuctios Whe this ico is clicked, the mouse cursor chages ito a crosshair i the etw ork diagram, w ith the help of w hich the area to be zoomed ca be selected by draw ig a frame aroud it. Zoom selectio With this ico, the displayed cut-out of the etw ork diagram ca be set i such a w ay that all elemets are displayed as large as possible, i.e. the display is limited by the outmost elemets of the etw ork diagram. Zoom etw ork diagram With the help of this ico, the view ca be reset to the selected paper size, i.e. to the full view of this format. Zoom output format 17

18 Quick view of calculatio results If the quick view of calculatio results is activated o the tool bar, it is possible to call up a w idow w ith the calculatio results for each dim esioed item of equipmet by placig the mouse poiter o the desired item of equipmet. 18

19 2.4 Meu bar ad key combiatios File meu I the File meu, select New to create a ew project. Ope to ope a existig project w ith the file extesio.sd. Save settigs to save a existig project. Save as to save a existig project i ay directory uder ay ame. Oe of the listed projects edited last to cotiue editig it. By default, the last 4 edited projects are provided for selectio. Usig the Tools meu à Settigs à Editor settigs, this umber ca be icreased to 9. Exit to close SIMARIS desig. Note: While a project is opeed or buffered, a backup copy of the project is saved uder the same ame as the origial project but w ith the extesio.bak. This file ca be foud i the same directory i w hich you saved your project. It serves for restorig the origial state or the last saved state of a project i the evet of a fault. 19

20 2.4.2 Edit meu I the Edit meu, select Udo to udo the last editig step. By default, the last 20 editig steps ca be udoe. Usig the Tools meu à Settigs à Editor settigs, this umber ca be icreased to 100. Restore to restore the editig steps w hich have bee udoe. To be able to track the Udo ad Redo editig steps, the respective last step is show directly i the meu w ith its short ame. If the project is saved durig the editig process, the saved editig steps are retaied for Udo ad Redo operatios, i.e. they ca still be used. Oly w he the project is closed, they w ill be deleted, so that they are o loger available for editig w he the project is called up agai. How ever, Dim esioig of a project caot be udoe. Coversely, this also meas that as soo as dimesioig is beig carried out durig a editig process, the saved editig steps are reset. After havig selected the elemets to be edited, select Cut, Copy, Copy elem et or Paste to use the correspodig fuctios for editig. You ca also access these fuctios usig the tool bar for etw ork desig i the Mai w idow 9 via idetical icos or by usig the cotext meu (right mouse butto). The differece betw ee the "Copy" ad "Copy elemet" fuctio is that "Copy" allow s to copy complete circuits, e.g. distributio boards ad fial circuits, w hereas "Copy elemet" oly allow s to copy idividual circuit compoets, such as cables/lies or devices. 22 2.4.5 Eergy Efficiecy meu I the Eergy Efficiecy meu, you ca use the meu item Pow er loss to ope a dialogue for view ig the pow er losses determied for selected devices. This fuctio is, how ever, oly available to users of the SIMARIS desig professioal versio. 22

23 I this dialog all circuits of the etw ork diagram are listed, sorted i descedig order based o the magitude of their absolute pow er loss. I further colums the apparet pow er ad the relative pow er loss of the circuits are listed as w ell. The accumulated legth show s the distace betw ee the relevat circuit ad the mai distributio for the operatig mode selected. Besides beig sorted accordig to absolute pow er loss, the list ca also be sorted either accordig to apparet pow er or relative circuit pow er loss. To do so, left-click o the correspodig colum header. As soo as the circuit w as selected i the table (ow highlighted i blue), ist compositio ad the compoets cotaied therei as show i the grey field o the right. I additio the pow er losses of the compoets i this circuit are displayed, i.e. the absolute pow er losses of cable coectios, busbar coectios ad devices. The circuit selected i the list is also marked w ith a blue frame o the etw ork diagram. How ever, the eergy effciecy aalysis oly cosiders the trasformers ad the low -voltage side of the etw ork diagram, so that the medium-voltage side compoets possibly displayed for feedig circuits areocosidered ad/or listed. The etire list of pow er losses of all circuits ca be exported as.csv file usig the "Start Export (*csv)" butto, so that it ca be postedited separately ad used for documetatio purposes. The "Chage Device" buttos displayed for each circuit compoet ca be used for chage techical details of the compoet. 23

24 For example, icreasig the rated pow er of a trasformer allow s to reduce the absolute pow er loss. If you w ould like to keep the chaged techical data i case of circuit re-dimesioig, you must exclude your selectio from automatic dimesioig (remove the checkmark at the top). The respective compoet w ill the be marked w ith a padlock symbol (o the etw ork diagram, too) ad excluded from a redimesioig cycle of the etire etw ork or sub-etw orks. The absolute pow er loss of the compoet w hich w as established after the selectio w as chaged w ill immediately be displayed i the pow er loss overview as soo as you close the dialogue box. I a similar w ay, you ca adapt the techical data of other compoets i these dialogues to reduce pow er losses, e.g. a higher rated curret ca be selected for sw itchig devices. But please keep i mid that such a selectio ca produce otes ad error messages, w hich w ould be show below the etw ork diagram. To elimiate such otes ad errors, you must adjust the techical data of other compoets either by a automatic redimesioig cycle or by maual iput for idividual compoets. 25 2.4.6 Tools meu Favourites Select Favourites to call up various edit optios for the favourites you saved for ifeed, distributio board ad fial circuits. Add favourite... Edit favourites... Load favourites... Import favourites... Export favourites... To add a favourite, select the required elemets i the etw ork diagram ad the select Tools meu à Favourites à Create favourite.... The w idow displayed o the left opes, i w hich you ca eter a ame ad descriptio of this favourite. By clickig the "OK" butto, this data is saved together w ith the favourite. The favourite is automatically assiged to oe of the 3 available categories System ifeed, Distributio board or Fial circuits. The amig of the favourites must be uique, i.e. it is ot possible to save a ew favourite uder a existig ame. The favourites files are idetified by the extesio.sdt (= SIMARIS desig template). To edit existig favourites, select Tools meu 25 à "Favourites" à"edit favourites". Here you ca fid a list of all favourites curretly available. Clickig the "Edit butto opes a w idow for eterig their ames ad descriptios (see above). Eable the "Delete" butto to select oe or more favourites for deletio. This step is fially executed, w he you cofirm the actio by clickig "OK". Usig the Tools meu à Favourites à Load favourites..., complete favourites libraries are loaded. How ever, access to the curretly used favourites library w ill be deleted w he doig this. This fuctio is to serve for beig able to chage betw ee differet libraries, e.g. betw ee a library w ith items for 690 V etw orks ad oe for 400 V etw orks. Usig the Tools meu à Favourites à Import favourites..., favourites libraries ca be imported. This meas that the favourites from the imported file are saved i additio to the curretly existig favourites i the favourites library. If oe of the ames of the imported favourites already exists, the ame of the imported favourite is modified automatically by addig a uderscore ad the low est available umber ad thus becomes uique. By clickig the "Brow se..." butto, the brow ser is opeed ad you ca import your ow draw ig frames w ith a suitable page size i.dxf format. Later you ca delete these imported frames agai by clickig the red cross ext to the respective frame. I the same w ay, you ca save a text field w hich is frequetly required or save a chage idex i.dw g or.dxf format ad delete it. With the "Reset" butto you ca reset all fields to stadard values agai; i this case, for example, you ca reset the draw ig frames to the default draw ig frames provided i the program. Clickig the "Apply" butto saves all chages permaetly, so you ca, for example, resort to those draw ig frames that you had read ito the program yourself. Save settigs Here you ca set w hether a backup copy of the edited file is to be created, ad you ca determie the itervals of automatic itermediate storage. 28 Cofigurable etw ork diagram output The meu item "Cofigurable etw ork diagram output" allow s you to create a user-defied variat for labellig the etw ork diagram. These user-defied labels ca be created i this w idow for all 28 etw ork diagram elemets, this also icludes ifeed ad distributio board circuits, sw itchig ad protective devices ad compoets i fial circuits. To do so, first select the elemet from the the tree at the top left corer for w hich you w at to create a label. Below the tree, this meas at the bottom left part, all parameters available for selectio for this elemet w ill be immediately displayed. Select a parameter by clickig the arrow key i the cetre ad choose the parameters you require for labellig your etw ork diagram as desired. These parameters w ill the be show i the field at the bottom right corer At the top right, you w ill see a preview of the selected label for the respective elemet. Clickig the "Apply" butto saves this selectio permaetly, w hich makes it available for other projects as w ell. The etw ork diagram w ith this cofigured labellig variat ca be displayed as curret view (Netw ork diagram view s 13 ) i the program step "Netw ork Desig". I the program step "Project Output", this view ca be exported idividually (select "Curret view ") or together w ith the stadard view s (select "All view s") for documetatio purposes. Export ca be made i form of a PDF or DWG/DXF file. If you w at to exchage the selected settigs for the cofigurable etw ork diagram output w ith other editors of the project or trasfer it to a differet computer, you ca export these settigs to a file usig the "Export" butto. The file extesio for the export file is ".profile". This file w ith the extesio ".profile" ca be read by aother editor, or respectively by aother computer usig the "Import" butto ad ca thus be used for further project editig ad project documetatio.

29 Selectivity settigs Selectivity evaluatio w hich is available i the professioal versio oly ca be eabled ad disabled i this scree. It is also possible to eable ad disable hits o the selectivity evaluatio here. As a further device characteristic for the assessmet of the selectivity a commo evelope curve of all upstream devices ad a commo evelope curve of all direct dow stream devices ca be displayed ad hidde i the Selectivity w idow. If selectivity evaluatio has bee eabled ad a selectivity w idow is ope, all sw itchig devices of a etw ork are highlighted i colour i the graphical represetatio of the diagram accordig to the follow ig criteria: gree: elemet is fully selective, yellow : elemet is partially selective, grey: elemet caot be evaluated. This ca be iterpreted as follow s: The behaviour of device combiatios regardig selectivity ca oly be established by testig. For those combiatios marked as fully or partially selective, appropriate testig is available, but ot for the items marked i grey. Moreover, i this scree you ca set the leged displayed i the selectivity diagram (see above) i such a w ay that it is automatically miimized. This meas, the leged is alw ays show miimized at first, so that it does't overlay the curves o display. Oly durig mouseover, the leged is elarged ad thus legible. 29

35 3 First Start 3.1 Call start wizard Whe you start the SIMARIS desig softw are, the start w izard opes automatically. 3.2 Create ew project Select "Create a ew project". "Next" opes the w idow for the project data. Eter the master data o the project here. The etry of a project ame ad project descriptio is madatory (default etry is "ew "), the etry of all other project data is optioal. "Next" takes you to the w idow for eterig the techical settigs for medium voltage. I order to view, complete or alter Project defiitio 38 data saved durig this editig step or ay other project editig step, click. 4.1 Project data I a existig project, the master data, cliet data, regioal settigs ad commet ca be completed ad chaged i the Project defiitio. The etry of a project ame ad project descriptio is madatory (default etry is "ew "). The legth of the project ame is limited to 40 characters ad the project short descriptio is limited to 19 characters. The etry of the plaer's ame (default etry is the Widow s logi ame) ad the desig office is optioal ad limited to 19 characters each. This part of the scree also show s the creatio date of the project ad the date of the last chage. If you are editig a ew project o the basis of a earlier project, modifyig it accordig to the ew requiremets, it is possible to set the dates for the creatio of the plat ad the last chage of the project to the curret date by clickig. The locatio of the cliet project ad the cliet's ame ca be iput as cliet data, each limited to 19 characters. Regioal settigs of SIMARIS desig are made i the Project defiitio ad are closely liked to the istalled coutry packages. This meas that by selectig a coutry, the respective techology package, too, w hich comprises suitable ad techologically compatible products for this coutry w hich are also regioally available, is used for product selectio ad automatic dimesioig w ithi the scope of cofiguratio. For every coutry, its atioal laguage or Eglish ca be set as laguage ("regioal settig"). Chagig the laguage ad/or the coutry oly becomes effective after a restart of SIMARIS desig. More tha 60 coutries w ith a total of 21 laguages ca be istalled ad specified for SIMARIS desig. Such a ote i the documetatio makes clear that device/system dimesioig is made related to the currets / short-circuit currets preset at 2 trasformers. 4.2 Techical settigs The techical settigs eable the user to review the data for medium ad low voltage w hich he set i the start w izard, ad, of course, to chage them. Chaged settigs w ill be saved ad w ill be available agai after every program restart. If techical data are chaged w hile a project is beig edited, a immediate check w ill be performed. How ever, equipmet w ill oly be adjusted accordigly oce the project has bee redimesioed. The picture o the left show s the techical settigs as origially delivered. Attetio: The values to be used for medium voltage must be obtaied from the resposible pow er supply etw ork operator. This meas they must be checked i the list itself ad follow ed up ad/or corrected by appropriate actio i the cofiguratio itself. If a smaller/differet format tha the set origial format is selected, the etw ork diagram is spread over several pages w hich add up to the overall graphic agai w he beig properly apposed. If ecessary, a.pdf created i origial size ca also be spread over several pages w he beig prited out so that the overall graphic ca be displayed w ith a sufficiet fot size by apposig the idividual pages. The thus created file ca the be imported i SIMARIS project. Procedure i SIMARIS project: Directly select "Import from SIMARIS desig" i the start w izard w he startig the program or, if the program is ope, via the meu item Project à Import from SIMARIS desig ad the select a SIMARIS desig file w ith the extesio.sx by clickig the "Brow se..." butto. By clickig the "Next" butto, the SIMARIS desig file is imported ad w he subsequetly clickig the "Fiish" butto the correspodig view s ad lists are created. Depedig o the size of the project, this process might take some time. Based o the data applied from SIMARIS desig, the required plats are directly geerated, listed i the project tree ad displayed i the program step "System Plaig" as parts list or frot view. Urecogized compoets are marked or listed correspodigly. Detected protective devices at outgoig feeders of busbar systems are trasferred to the respective tap-off uits.
