Course Introduction Course Overview Concussions are a type of traumatic brain injury caused by a bump or blow to the head or body that causes the brain to move and collide with the skull causing injury. There are many ways to get a concussion including falls, car crashes, bike accidents, and partaking in sporting activities. In fact, the number of recorded concussion cases has doubled in the last decade alone. Scripps Health s Concussion Awareness Training program is designed to educate and promote improved patient outcomes with regards to concussion patients. The course will be taught from variety of perspectives including that of the neurologist, primary care physician, ER physician, and athletic trainer.
