Important Demographic Information about the Filipino-American Community Here are important statistics about the Filipino-American community in Illinois & nationwide There are 139,090 Filipinos & multiracial Filipinos in Illinois, with the largest concentration in the City of Chicago and the surrounding six Chicago suburbs. Filipinos & multiracial Filipinos are the 2 nd largest Asian group in Illinois. Over $80,000 was the median household income over a 12-month time frame in 2009 (inflation-adjusted) for Filipino & multiracial Filipino households in Illinois. The Filipino community is the 2 nd highest educated Asian population in Illinois, with 62.3% of Filipinos & multiracial Filipinos age 25 years-old and older possessing at least a bachelor s degree. At the national level, the Filipino population is the 2 nd largest group in the Asian alone or in combination with another race category such as Filipinos and multiracial American- Filipinos; there are 3.4 million people in this demographic. Asian Americans, which include Filipinos, were the largest growing population both at the national level and in Illinois over the past decade from 2000-2010. Illinois saw an increase of almost 200,000 new Asian American residents at over a 40% increase.
