All Lions Pride Football camps will be conducted by Coach Fred Yancey, along with the high school and junior high coaching staffs. All three camps take place at Lions Pride Stadium. Elementary: Grades 4-6 Date: May 31 June 2: 8:30-11:30 a.m. Cost: $125-first child $115-before May 1 $80-each additional child This camp is geared toward creating an exciting atmosphere of drills and games to teach the fundamentals of football to these aspiring young players. Mini: Grades 1-3 Date: May 31 June 2; 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. Cost: $60 The Mini-Camp will introduce the game of football to young players in a safe, fun-filled environment. Junior High: Grades 7-8 Date: May 31 June 2; 4:30-7:30 p.m. Cost: $125-first child $115-before May 1 $80-each additional child This evening camp will help the boys get an early start learning the offense and defense, along with fundamental skills for all positions. Each camp will include the basics of speed, conditioning, agility and weight training that will help your son as he prepares for a bright athletic future. We play for championships! Guys Strength, Speed & Conditioning Grades: Rising 6th-8th Instructors: Coaches Ernest Carroll & Shane Harmon When: June 6th-30th (Monday-Thursday) Time: 3-4:45 p.m. at the high school weight room Cost: $200 for the 4-week camp; $150 for each additional brother Make checks payable to Ernest Carroll. The purpose of this camp is to improve core strength, teach proper weight-lifting technique, teach proper running form, improve one s 40-yard dash time, and to improve agility and overall conditioning. BCS Summer Camps Boys and Girls Basketball Grades: Rising 1st - 8th (coed) Dates: June 13-16 or June 27-30 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (Early drop-off at 8 a.m.) Cost: $170 (received by May 15) $180 (after May 15) Make checks to: BBC; Att: Coach Jim Brown Location: High School Gym BCS varsity basketball coaches Bobby Kerley, Jeremy Mears and Jim Brown join together to teach fundamental basketball skills, such as shooting, dribbling, passing, rebounding and defense, that each camper can use to improve his or her game. Players will be divided by age and ability, and adjustable goals will be incorporated. This camp is suited for the beginner, experienced and more advanced player. Carraway Center for Teaching & Learning Date: July 25-29 Grades: Rising 5th-12th Time: 2 hours each day* Cost: $275 Location: Briarwood Junior High School BCS, Vanderbilt and Harvard Graduate Kimberly Carraway will offer two educational courses to help students develop successful study habits and individual learning strategies. The Study and Learning Techniques Course will help identify individual learning strengths, reading comprehension strategies, and strategies for studying and test-taking. The Critical Reading Course will help students identify their individual reading style, learn strategies for comprehension and note-taking, and improve reading speed and fluency. Drawing Lessons Instructor: Jo Anne Young Are you a Stick Figure Expert who is ready to move on to more? Come join us for fun drawing lessons! Students will complete three projects in pencil and ink drawings during the week-long class: Portraiture (including drawing features and shading); a bird or animal; and a landscape. Classes are for rising 3rd graders through adults, and two sessions are available. Classes will be taught in the Briarwood Elementary Art Room. SOCCER Junior Ambassadors Camp Dates: June 20-24 Time: 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. Ages: 4-10 (boys & girls) Location: Briarwood Church Field Cost: $80 Ambassadors Camp Dates: July 11-15 Time: 8:30 a.m. - 12 p.m. Ages: 7-14 (boys & girls) Campers will learn proper technique and team tactics using fun drills and smallsided games for maximum touches on the ball, along with individual professional soccer instruction. Camps also include daily scrimmages, grouped by age and ability, and advanced training for competitive players. Camp instructors will include Club Director Ryan Leib, who played professionally for 8 years; Randy Douglas, the head women s coach at Point University; Mark Wallace, state championship coach at BCS; and competitive coach Shawn Marlow. Children and teens will learn the importance of good manners, including the basics of dining etiquette and social skills.
