GameCrazy uses this fun computer game to teach about History, Geography and Architecture. You ll travel to historical lands where you ll interact with characters who will send you on quests to learn about the culture of those lands. Dismissal time for this class only: 5:20 pm THURSDAYS APRIL 16, 23, 30; MAY 7, 14, 21 3:50 5:00pm Cost: $36 Location: Kindergarten Room 110 Knitting isn t just for grandmas (or girls, for that matter!) all kids can have fun with this pastime! Knitting has been shown to improve concentration, dexterity and math skills. Mrs. Bloink is an accomplished knitter, excited to share her knowledge with knitters of all levels. Enrollment limit: 10 GIRLS BASKETBALL GRADES 3 5 FRIDAYS APRIL 17, 24; MAY 1, 8, 15 & 22 Cost: $30 Location: Gym Whether you are already a sharpshooter, or just learning to dribble, come join this fun class. You ll learn all the fundamentals of the game, including dribbling, passing, shooting and defending. BOYS RUNNING CLUB GRADES 3 5 WEDNESDAYS APRIL 22, 29; MAY 6, 13, 20 & 27 Cost: $30 Location: Gym Whether you already love to run, or want to learn more about running, join this class to develop your running skills. The parent coaches will emphasize the importance of pace and help you develop run/walk intervals. Please bring a water bottle, running clothes/shoes and a good attitude! Enrollment limit: 16 ArtCraftStudio CHESS WIZARDS THURSDAYS APRIL 23, 30; MAY 7, 14 & 21 Cost: $85 Location: Media Center Whether you re just learning the game or already consider yourself a chess master, this is the class for you! Each student is challenged by fun games and lessons from real Wizard teachers. Chess enhances cognitive development in children, improves both verbal and mathematical skills, and increases all levels of academic performance. BOTTLE CAP MURAL GRADES 4 5 MONDAYS MAY 4, 11 & 18 Cost: $ 36 Location: Art Room Students will work with Mr. Fink to kick off our bottle cap mural project by painting the boards that the caps will get attached to. Now you can build your own! Game Crazy will teach you all aspects of video game design, from game ideation to storyboarding to the iterative development process of prototyping and testing. At the end of the four week class, you ll be able to take your video game home! GET BUGGY WEDNESDAY MAY 20 Cost: $16 Location: Art Room Discover the incredible world of bugs. Find out all the cool and creepy things that bugs do and explore the many ways that bugs help our world. Design your own bug, see through the eyes of bugs, make your very own beehive and more. Dismissal time for this class only: 5:20 pm YARN, YARN & MORE YARN! THURSDAY MAY 21 Cost: $17 Location: Preschool Room Come learn the fun things you can do with yarn! Tuition will not be prorated for lack of attendance or schedule conflicts. Refund requests must be made directly to Birmingham Community Education THREE (3) days prior to the beginning of class. With the exception of one day classes, all class refunds are the amount of the tuition less a $10 processing fee per class. The processing fee for one-day classes is $5.00. The cost of materials cannot be refunded.
