INTRODUCTION The International Symposium on Fuels and Lubricants (ISFL) series of symposia is held biennially with the objective of providing a common platform for sharing the latest developments, exchange ideas and forge new business relationships. This symposium also showcases the progress and advancement of Indian fuels and lubricants industry. The first seven symposia, ISFL-1997, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008 and 2010 were successfully organized by the Research and Development (R&D) Centre of Indian Oil Corporation Limited, India s premier oil refining and marketing company. Subsequently, the ISFL-2012 and 2014 were organized by Indian Oil R&D centre under the aegis of ISFL society. The 9 th ISFL, which was organized in April, 2014, had a central theme Advances in Fuels, Lubricants and Alternatives. During the symposium, 125 technical papers were presented by the eminent scientists, industry leaders, OEMs, academicians and policy makers related to the latest advancements in the areas of fuels and lubricants. Over 320 delegates including 46 from overseas representing 10 countries participated in this event. Inaugural Session Technical Session Valedictory Session The 10 th Symposium in the series, i.e., ISFL-2016 is scheduled during April 18-20, 2016, in Hotel Vivanta by Taj Surajkund, Delhi NCR, Faridabad, Haryana, India. The theme of this symposium is Advances in Fuels, Lubricants and Alternatives. This symposium will cover the latest developments in the area of fuels and lubricants. Special emphasis will be given to energy efficient lubricants, novel additives, novel refinery processes / catalysts for producing cleaner fuels meeting Euro- IV/V beyond specifications, alternative fuels etc. Accordingly, technical sessions will be planned on the utilization of gaseous fuels like LPG & natural gas (CNG & LNG), hydrogen (production, storage, transportation and applications including fuel cells etc.) and bio-fuels. Like the previous ones, this symposium is also expected to be attended by more than 350 delegates from petroleum industry, auto manufacturers, and environmentalists and from other allied industries. ABOUT THE ORGANIZER - ISFL SOCIETY Based on a general consensus ISFL Society has been registered with the name Indian Society for Fuels and Lubricants having headquarters at Indian Oil Corporation Limited, R&D Centre, Faridabad, during 2010. This Society is a non-profit organization for encouraging and tracking the technological advances in the area of fuels & lubricants through the organization of workshops, industry meet, educational courses etc. Another mandate of the society is to organize biennially ISFL Symposium. The current Executive Committee of the ISFL Society has decided to organize the 10 th International Symposium on Fuels and Lubricants ISFL-2016 jointly with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd., R&D Centre. SCOPE OF ISFL-2016 ISFL-2016 will focus on latest developments and trends in the area of fuels, lubricants, refinery processes, emission, environment, and engine design etc., revolving around the theme of the symposium. Thus, the following twelve broad areas will be highlighted in this symposium. SYMPOSIUM VENUE The venue of the symposium is Hotel Vivanta by Taj, Surajkund, Delhi NCR, Faridabad, Haryana, India. It provides one of the finest convention facilities with ambience. New Delhi reflects rich cultural heritage of Indian traditions manifesting unity in diversity and portrays all signs of one of the world s fastest growing economies. In order to provide insight into the richness of the Indian culture to participants, two cultural evenings will be organized during the symposium. Weather is expected to be pleasant during April in New Delhi with day temperature 25-30 0 C and night temperatures around 20-25 0 C. In addition, local sightseeing tours in and around Delhi, viz., Agra (200 kms to reach Taj Mahal), Jaipur (250kms to reach Pink City), Bharatpur (250 kms to reach Bird Sanctuary) etc., can be arranged, depending on response, on chargeable basis. CALL FOR PAPERS Professionals in petroleum industry and academic / research institutions actively working in the areas mentioned above are invited to participate in the symposium and share their research findings & ideas. Authors desirous of presenting papers in the symposium are requested to submit the abstract of their papers directly on the website before October 31, 2015 in MS word format. Abstracts of technical paper should cover details of research work within 500 words (with no figure). SYMPOSIUM LANGUAGE English will be the official language of the symposium. TECHNICAL PROCEEDINGS Technical deliberations during the symposium to be conducted in parallel sessions to accommodate different topics of related technical areas. PC based projection facilities will be made available. The technical sessions will include: Plenary lectures and invited presentations Technical papers Poster presentations Panel discussions BUSINESS TALK A business talk for the Additive Manufacturers / related Equipment Suppliers / Services in the area fuels and lubricants will be organized during the symposium. During this session, representative of a company will be allowed 30 minutes to give commercial presentation, brief demo and distribute product bulletins. Fees for a business talk will be Rs 115,000 (inclusive of 14% service tax) for Indian Speaker and US $ 2300 (inclusive of 14% service tax) for Overseas Speaker. This fee also includes free registration of two delegates. 3
