The Coachella Valley 2015 Annual Economic Summit Thursday, October 29, 2015 GUEST SPEAKERS DR. MARK SCHNIEPP DR. MARK SCHNIEPP is president and director of the Santa Barbara-based California Economic Forecast, which prepares economic analyses and county-level forecasts for Cal Trans, The Irvine Company, Kaiser Permanente, Blue Shield of California, California Association of Realtors, and Southern California Association of Governments. Dr. Schniepp develops regional real estate and economic forecast publications and presents the findings at conferences in Ventura County, Santa Clarita Valley, and Santa Barbara County. He also participates with the UCLA Anderson Forecast in the preparation of the annual Orange County and San Diego County economic forecasts each spring. He also produces The Economic Watch newsletter, available at www.californiaforecast.com. In his Coachella Valley Economic Summit presentation, Dr. Schniepp will review key economic indicators for the region and present a five-year forecast for employment, housing, population, and income. MICHAEL J. MCDONALD MICHAEL J. MCDONALD is president of Demographics and Affordability Watch and a principal in the real estate consulting firm Market Watch LLC, which analyzes the Coachella Valley resale and new home markets for homebuilders and broker/agents. Demographics and Affordability Watch uses the U.S. Census Bureau s American Community Survey data to analyze the effects of changing demographics on the local economy and housing markets. Previously, Mr. McDonald was senior vice president of investments at Salomon Smith Barney, where he managed more than $500 million in client assets. In his Coachella Valley Economic Summit presentation, Mr. McDonald will demonstrate how the demographics of the Coachella Valley can identify future workforce needs and assist employers and educators to prepare local students to fill those jobs.
