The Visual Arts Coordinator will also work collaboratively with other staff across the organisation in assisting with marketing, community engagement and administrative support for Country Arts SA s artform development programs. REPORTING STRUCTURE The Visual Arts Coordinator is responsible to the Manager, Artform Development. SPECIAL CONDITIONS Occasional out of hours work will be required. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES In conjunction with the Manager, Artform Development: Overseeing the development of visual arts touring policies and programs for regional South Australia, coordinating and evaluating arts projects and programs supported by the organisation. Delivering all Visual Arts programs including the curation, development, administration, promotion and display of exhibitions throughout the State. Be a key project coordinator of the biannual Whyalla Art Prize As required, represent Country Arts SA at national touring forums and associated meetings with formal national and state networks and funding agencies. Representing Country Arts SA on committees and at meetings when required. Responsible for the development, installation and presentation of touring exhibitions by: preparing exhibition information including art handling instructions and condition reports; preparing, crating and packing of works of art for touring plus the unpacking and returning of artworks upon tour completion; ensuring timely shipping, receiving, transportation, insurance and installation of exhibitions in regional venues/galleries as required; maintaining exhibition databases pertaining to programming, planning, budgets & expenditure and maintaining documentation of touring exhibitions; confirming and following up on exhibition bookings and touring schedules; Assist with the development and understanding of the visual arts by: providing professional advice to clients, artists, other Country Arts SA staff and the general public; development of interpretive and educational materials as required; facilitating artist forums, talks, training and skills development seminars; assisting in marketing, audience development and community engagement activities, including assisting with launches and preparing speeches and media releases; disseminating information to regional groups and clients; maintaining a network of industry contacts including NETS and Regional Galleries Association of SA. Assist in the effective operation and administration of the Artform Development Division by: providing administrative support, including assisting in the preparation of papers for meetings of the Board and Visual Arts Advisory Panel; assisting with the preparation of budgeting and risk management of the program and funding applications and acquittals for various departments of government and non-government organisations as required; assisting the Manager, Artform Development and other program managers as directed with the development and planning of special events and other initiatives. ensuring the promotion and implementation of the principles of public administration and personnel management, in particular equal opportunity and occupational health and safety. Experience Experience in art museum registration and installation practices in particular packing, handling, transportation and installation of works and conservation methods. Experience in curating, constructing, administering and delivering complex multimedium visual art touring exhibitions across multiple venues Experience in the arts or an arts related organisation. Computer literate with experience in the use of word processing, database, spreadsheet and graphics software. Experience in carrying out administrative and routine financial procedures. Knowledge Knowledge of the visual arts and crafts in South Australia. General understanding of the processes for the installation of exhibitions. General knowledge of budgeting and other administrative procedures. Understanding of OHS and Risk Management principles and their application. DESIRABLE REQUIREMENTS Educational/Vocational Qualifications Arts degree or an appropriate tertiary qualification in a related discipline or arts administration.
