1 Senior Lecturer (Course Leader) in Interior Design Faculty of Arts, Computing, ngineering and Sciences Department of Art and Design Permanent Full time Salary 37,394 to 47,328 per annum, dependent on experience Vacancy reference AC 542/14 Closing date 15 December 2014 at 12 noon The Sheffield Institute of Arts (SIA) The Sheffield Institute of Arts started in 1843 as one of Britain's first training schools for industrial artists and designers at the peak of the Industrial revolution. Today we retain a good deal of that traditional "Art School" ethos and purpose, but with a wider, more critical agenda. SIA students go on to be agents of change in many ways, as artists, makers, teachers, cultural producers, entrepreneurs, designers for new industries, and researchers. The annual graduate SIA exhibition and events programme has become an important cultural focus in the city, while The SIA Gallery has become a significant venue for exhibitions by leading designers and artists. The institute hosts the Department of Art and Design. The Department of Art and Design The Department supports study at first degree, masters and doctoral levels with a growing programme of integrated masters degrees (MDes/MArt). We have more than 1500 students and 70 permanent academic staff. Many of our academics are active researchers who have achieved excellent recognition in the 2008 Research Assessment xercise (RA) and there is a continuing flow of people, ideas and opportunities between the Department and its sister Art and Design Research Centre. The Faculty of Arts, Computing, ngineering and Sciences We have created a unique, multi-disciplinary learning environment which fosters synergies between creative arts, applied sciences and engineering. Over 250 academic staff together with professional and technical services staff deliver our innovative courses and cutting-edge research. We teach around 7,300 students each year, both full time and part time, including over 600 international students. We also have 144 postgraduate research students who are involved in stateof-the-art research programmes. The Faculty has four academic Departments which offer a wide range of courses that are designed to produce highly employable graduates. We are a leading provider of sandwich courses in the UK and work with more than 250 companies to offer placement opportunities for our students. We continue to invest in state-of-the-art studios, workshops and lab facilities, aiming to make this one of the best learning facilities in the UK higher education sector. Page 1 of 9
