Job Description Job Title Responsible to Location Fitness Supervisor Fitness Manager Guildford Spectrum Leisure Comple Job Purpose To support the Fitness Manager in the effective supervision of the facilities on a day-to-day basis. To provide the highest standards of customer service and safety at all times in accordance with the policies, procedures and systems. Ensuring staff are motivated and well supervised to deliver the required standards. To liaise with the Fitness Manager, to increase membership retention in the gym within Guildford Spectrum Leisure Comple and to generate membership sales. To assist in monitoring, measuring and reporting membership and user retention within the fitness facilities with the Fitness Manager/Sales Manager. To deliver initiatives in the marketing promotional plan for the fitness facility. Key Relationships Fitness team Customer Service Team Membership Advisor Team Duty Managers team Staff Teams Members and users of the gym Marketing Department Main Duties To supervise and develop the use of gym resources under Fitness Supervisor control, in liaison with the Fitness Manager, paying particular attention to staff supervisory management, individual development and safety requirements. To instruct fitness sessions, as and when required, at various levels of ability on both a group and individual basis. To assist users with eercise enquiries, general training, compilation of personalised programmes and supervise timetabled classes. To co-ordinate courses operated within the Gym from school to group bookings. To ensure that provision is made through rota planning, registers and invoicing. To coordinate the spinning programme and ensure that cover for classes is provided along with ecellent communication with customers and instructors. To monitor the LUS (lower user system) on customers and take the necessary actions through staff to improve customer usage. To assist in meeting income targets for the fitness facility, in line with the Centre epectations. To have financial and operational accountability for all activities under their supervisory control on shift.

To manage staff rotas for use by the Fitness Manager, for monitoring and budgeting purposes. To ensure the facility is maintained in a clean and tidy condition at all times, carrying out remedial action when necessary. To ensure that all resourcing plans, for both staffing and equipment, are designed to ensure optimum cost effectiveness whilst maintaining standards of quality and safety standards. To be responsible for delivering and monitoring of detailed quality Operating Documents and Quality Records manual, consisting of product specifications and operational procedures in relation to the programme, resourcing, quality and safety requirements. To provide the highest standards of customer care and service by ensuring all employees adhere to the standards laid out in the Operating Documents manual. To ensure that all equipment within the facility is maintained to safe and usable standard to ensure provision of programmes at all times. To liaise with the Fitness Manager/Marketing Section at Spectrum in monitoring customer satisfaction levels based on research information, customer comment forms and customer letters. To be responsible for taking any resultant action from such information. To be responsible for maintaining a safe working environment for both customers and staff. dentifying areas of concern, reporting these as appropriate to the Fitness Manager and take the necessary remedial action. As a Fitness Supervisor, you are responsible, in the first instance, for the welfare of your staff whilst at work on shift. Changes in an employee s performance, attitude, attendance etc should be raised confidentially with the employee and action, as necessary, agreed with the Fitness Manager. You should be aware of the sickness records of all staff for whom you are responsible and be involved in the corporate sickness reporting procedure when staff are absent. To work with Spectrum teams, corporate teams and also eternal partners such as Primary care trust and Local Strategic Partnership to provide healthy living and provide support programmes accordingly including GP and Cardiac Referral programmes. General To fully participate in two annual staff performance review processes and producing personal development/training plans for all staff. Undertake training as necessary in line with the development of the post and agreed with line manager. Occasionally, training or meetings are organized outside normal working hours. The post holder will be epected to attend whenever reasonably practicable. To achieve and demonstrate agreed standards of personal and professional development within agreed timescales. To contribute positively to the effectiveness and efficiency of the teams in which he / she works. To undertake any other duties at the request of the line manager or eecutive director team which are commensurate with the role, including project work, internal job rotation and absence cover. To carry out disciplinary action to the authorised level of oral warning, in accordance with the Corporate agreed disciplinary procedure. To ensure that all staff under his/her direction are briefed regularly on matters relating to the Centre as a whole, operations generally and facility issues as necessary.
