Apply online at youngarts.org/apply2015. Deadline October 17, 2014. Wendy s High School Heisman Award honors high school students who excel in academics, athletics, and community involvement. To be eligible a student must have maintained at least a B grade point average and participated in one of the 27 sports officially sanctioned by the National Federation of State High School Associations, and demonstrated active involvement in his or her community. Students are asked to write an original and creative essay of 1,000 words or less that demonstrates an understanding of political courage as described by John F. Kennedy in Profiles in Courage. Describe and analyze an act of political courage by a United States elected official that took place during or after 1956. Include an analysis of the obstacles, risks, and consequences associated with the act. The essay may concern an issue at the local, state, national, or international level. Ronald B. Czajkowski, Jr. Memorial Scholarship awarded to a graduating member of the football team who brings a crucial, intangible value to the team and his teammates. (Number 112) CEN Manufacturing 2015 Scholarship is awarded to encourage students to consider careers in manufacturing. For high school seniors graduating in 2015 and accepted at an accredited two or four year college, university or trade school and planning to enroll in a major which can lead to qualifying for a position with a manufacturer. (Number 7) The Ned Carter Scholarship offered by the Association of Fire Districts of the State of New York to NYS High School Seniors graduating in June of 2015. Student MUST be related to or be a Firefighter in an affiliated member organization of the Association of Fire Districts of NYS and MUST reside in NYS. Applicant should be pursuing a post secondary career in the community service related areas of endeavor at a 2 or 4 year college. (Number 16) Sons of the American Revolution George & Stella Knight Essay Contest is for sophomores, juniors or seniors the contest is conducted in three phases: local, state and National. Our National, yet local Society, seeks to maintain and expand the meaning of patriotism, respect for our national symbols, the value of American citizenship, and the unifying force of e pluribus unum. (Number 1B) 2014 2015 Civics Poster / Essay Contest for 11th or 12th grade students. Participants may submit one poster and or one essay. Deadline to Guidance is February 2, 2015. Information and applications in guidance. (Number 113) The Giddings Foundation Scholarship can represent a generous contribution to a deserving student s college financial obligation. They are granted in recognition of a graduating senior s overall personal achievement with emphasis on leadership, community service and high academic standing. Eligibility: graduating seniors with a GPA of 85 or above. Deadline to Guidance is February 13, 2015. (Number 19) Excellence in Nursing Awards Essay Scholarship from Hudson Valley Magazine awards a $1500 scholarship to a motivated senior who plans to pursue a career in nursing. Must be a high school senior and send an essay explaining why you want to be a nurse. Information in guidance. Application deadline: Applications must be postmarked by February 13, 2015. (Number 97) Big Mind Learning Scholarship for high school juniors and seniors. Students will be evaluated purely on the merit of their personal essays in response to a writing prompt. The scholarship will honor students who speak their minds and examine their personal lives in clear, vivid writing. SEFCU SCHOLARSHIPS for a high school senior who is the primary member on a SEFCU account. Applicants will be judged on academic performance, extracurricular, community and volunteer activities, and the quality and content of a written essay. Please e mail marketing@sefcu.com for the following scholarship application packets: 1. SEFCU Smart Sense Scholarship ($1,000) is open to all college bound high school seniors who are SEFCU members. Deadline to SEFCU is January 31, 2015. (Number 18) 2. SEFCU John Ilacqua Memorial Scholarship ($2,500) is available to one high school senior who is a SEFCU member and planning to attend Siena College. The one time scholarship is given to a student with a strong academic record who has demonstrated a commitment to his/her community through volunteerism. Deadline to SEFCU is January 31, 2015. (Number 18) 3. Credit Union Association of New York (CUANY) Scholarships ($500 and $1,000) will be awarded to high school seniors. (Number 18) B nai B rith Capital Area Holocaust Essay Contest is free and open to high school and middle school students in the 12 county Capital area of NY. (Number 50) Marion Heath Payn Scholarship Program is administered by the Board of Education of Chatham Central School District from funds received from the estate of Marion Heath Payn. The income from these funds is used to provide scholarships to worthy and needy graduates of Chatham High School. Applications in guidance; deadline is April 30, 2015. (Number 36) Berkshire Bank Scholarships are offered to HS Seniors with a record of community service who attend a high school in a town served by Berkshire Bank. The Berkshire Bank Foundation will award up to 30 local High School Seniors a $1,500 scholarship. Must have a minimum GPA of 3.0, a gross family annual income under $75,000, and plan to attend a 2 or 4 year college or technical school. (Number 106) Buick Achievers Scholarship Program is for seniors who plan to enroll full time at a four year college or university and who plan to major in a field of study that focuses on engineering, technology, design or business, with an interest in the automotive industry. Delta Kappa Gamma Alpha Nu Chapter Grant in Aid Scholarship is awarded to a female high school senior graduating in June 2015 and who intends to prepare for a career in the teaching profession. Applications and criteria available in guidance. Deadline to guidance is Friday, February 24, 2015. (Number 26) Phi Beta Kappa Scholarship Upper Hudson Association champions outstanding academic achievement and a liberal education, awarding scholarships to two 2015 high school graduates from the region planning to enter college in the fall of 2015. Applicants must have at least a 90% GPA and be in the top 10% of their class. Applications in guidance; deadline to guidance is Wednesday, March 4, 2015. (Number 37)

The Zonta Club s Jean M. Coon Humanitarian Award for outstanding community service is awarded to a Junior or a Senior. Academic achievement is not a factor in selecting a winner. Fowler Root Scholarship is offered to interested students from both the Chatham Central and the New Lebanon School Districts who have shown academic achievement and good character and has participated in school activities. (Number 47) Spencertown Fire Company Fred Oleynek Memorial Scholarship to a graduating senior who A) has resided at least 2 years in the area serviced by the Spencertown Fire Co. or B) lives within the Austerlitz Fire District and has a parent who is a member in good standing of the Spencertown Fire Co. and c) plans to continue their education at an institution of higher learning. Applications in guidance; deadline to guidance is April 17, 2015. (Number 41) The Linnea Bell Music Scholarships are given to two (2) students who are residents of the Chatham School District. Linnea Bell, a junior at Chatham High School, was a young woman with ambitions to become a musician/dj. Preference is given to students who are entering their first year of a two or four year college with a goal of pursuing a career in music. These goals could be in singing and performing, as well as in the professional industry, i.e. recording studio, disc jockey, sound engineer, or musical theater. Applications in guidance. ( Number 71) Ghent VFW #5933 Auxiliary Scholarship is awarded to a child, grandchild, niece or nephew who is a graduating student and also related to a Veteran of Foreign Wars. Deadline is April 30, 2015. (Number 77) Meghan Kraham Memorial Scholarship is awarded to one male and one female senior (or more) who are committed to pursuing a post secondary education. The recipients shall be students who, like Meghan Kraham, engaged in community service, strong and positive school spirit through extra curricular school activities, and conducted themselves with a high moral code and serve as a good role model for other students. Application in guidance; deadline to guidance is MAY 1, 2015. (Number 34) Simon Youth Community Scholarship will be given to a high school senior who lives within 50 mile of Lee Premium Outlets. The student must plan to attend an accredited university, two or four year college or technical or vocational school. Applications are considered by a variety of criteria, including academic record, leadership skills, participation in school and community activities, and financial data. (Number 115) Farm Credit East, ACA offers several college scholarships to students pursuing careers in agriculture, commercial fishing or the forest products industry. To apply you must fill out our brief application and complete an essay. Applications on website at www.farmcrediteast.com. (Number 52) Ad Club Scholarship For high school seniors or for students entering their junior or senior year at a Capital Region college or university who are majoring in public communications, marketing, graphic arts, public relations, or any other communications related curriculum. Campbell Memorial Scholarship This award is intended for a graduating senior enrolled in a High School Vocational Education Program in Albany, Columbia, Greene, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Schoharie, Warren and Washington County of New York State OR a freshman already enrolled in a college or university in pursuit of an Associate s Degree in Construction Technology, Building Construction/Building Trades, Carpentry AAS or AOS, Construction Technology (with carpentry minor), or Construction Technology/Building Construction. Manufacturing and Trade Scholarship Established by the Manufacturing and Trade Committee of the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the Manufacturing & Trade Scholarship is designed to give Hudson Valley residents, age 17 or older, who possess or are working towards a High School or General Equivalency Diploma, the opportunity to continue and/or complete their educational needs in manufacturing or trade profession. Scholarship monies will be given directly to the educational institution. Funds may be used for tuition, materials or textbooks, as necessary components to a Manufacturing or Trade course. Mary Abdoo Fashion Memorial Scholarship Established by the family of Mary Abdoo and the Dutchess County Regional Chamber of Commerce to honor her memory, this scholarship is available to any resident of the Hudson Valley who is pursuing a career in fashion at Marist College.
