1 STUDENT PERSONNEL SERVICES MONTHLY BULLETIN APRIL 2010 SCHOLARSHIPS 1. AEMP Foundation Scholarships Do you enjoy taking things apart and problem-solving to put them back together? If so, then you might think about a career as a heavy equipment technician. Benefits of a career in this field are outstanding pay, extremely high demand and excellent career path opportunities. Applications are available online on May 1 of each year for the following fall. (SEPT) 2. New Jersey Chronic Fatigue Syndrome A $1000 scholarship will be awarded to a graduating senior who has Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. Scholarship can be downloaded from Deadline is April 19, (FEB) 3. Hellenic University Club of Philadelphia Scholarships for Students of Greek Descent A number of scholarships are available to students with outstanding academic qualifications and financial need. Applications are available at Deadline is April 20, (FEB) 4. The Chief Gary R. Cline Memorial Scholarship A $1000 scholarship to a graduating senior pursuing a career in law enforcement who has a parent actively serving, or they themselves are actively serving Camden County in a branch of police/law enforcement, fire service (paid and volunteer), or emergency medical service.. This scholarship is offered through the Camden County Hero Scholarship 200 Club. Deadline is May 2, (FEB) 5. Jon M. Pritsch Memorial Golf Fund Scholarships are available to any senior who has been a member of their school s golf team, interested in pursuing a career in a golf-related field and applies to the Professional Golf Management Program or a School of Agronomy to be a Greens Superintendent. To date

2 over $110,000 in scholarships have been awarded. Deadline to receive application is by 5 p.m. May 25, (MAR) 6. New Jersey Garden City Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Scholarship Program This annual scholarship was established to provide encouragement for young African-American college bound women in pursuit, not only of post-secondary education, but also academic excellence. Deadline is April 23, (MAR) 7. The Billy Consalo Memorial Agricultural Scholarship A $2500 scholarship will be awarded to a student who must be furthering their education in agriculture or an agriculturally related field at a college, university, technical, business, trade school or other institute of higher education. Deadline is May 1, (MAR) 8. The Thornton Sisters Foundation Scholarship One or more one-year educational scholarships are available to deserving young females of color. Deadline for application to be postmarked is May 7, (MAR) 9. The Mervyn Sluizer, Jr. Scholarship Fund This fund provides scholarships to Scouts and former Boy Scouts who attained the rank of Eagle and wish to pursue higher education. Application is available online at in the scholarship section and must be postmarked by May 1, (MAR) Mahatma Gandhi Awards This essay, poetry and art competition is sponsored on behalf of the Association of Indians in America. South Jersey Golf Association Scholarship - The SJGA will be presenting eight $500 scholarships, one scholarship each for a winning applicant from eight counties, one of which is Camden County. This scholarship is available to a student who is a member in good standing of his/her golf team and plans to enroll as a full time undergraduate student at an accredited college or university within the United States. An applicant need not be a member of a country club or golf club. However, if a member of a golf club, an applicant must be sponsored by an SJGA member. Visit for application.

3 Application must be postmarked no later than Monday, May 3, (APR) 12. Guildscholar - The Jewish Guild for the Blind offers an annual scholarship program for college-bound high school students who are legally blind. Applications will be accepted from students at the beginning of their senior year, with recipients selected and scholarships awarded later in the senior year. The Program will award 12 to 16 scholarships of up to $15,000 each. Apply at (APR) 13. Tekmark Global Solutions LLC Two $1500 scholarships are available to high school seniors that plan on attending Rutgers University or Rider University as incoming freshmen and are majoring in Engineering/Engineering Technology, Computer Science/MIS or Telecommunications/Information Technology. Application available at Deadline is July 15, (APR) 14. The Gallery Collection s 4 th Annual Create-A- Greeting-Card $10,000 Scholarship Contest Students have a chance to win $10,000 towards their education plus a $1000 award for their school. Students must submit a unique photo, piece of artwork, or computer graphic for the front of a greeting card. The student with the best design will win $10,000 and have his/her design made into an actual card to be sold in our line. Check the website at (APR) 15. NJ Foundation of Leadership, Education and Arts Development (NJF LEAD) 2010 HBCU Scholarship NJF LEAD, INC awards scholarships to high school seniors who will attend Historically Black Colleges or Universities (HBCU). Visit Applications must be received by April 24, (APR) 16. Filipiniana Youth Award A $100 award will be presented to an outstanding Filipino senior who is in the top 20% of his/her senior class. 4 Attention Juniors! Wendy s Restaurants have teamed up with the Heisman Memorial Trophy Committee to present the Wendy s High School Heisman Award. The award honors both male and female high school students who excel in academics, athletics and student leadership. Men and women who will be high school seniors in the school year who have at least a B grade average and participate in at least one school-sponsored sport is eligible. July 5-July FilmTech s (Philadelphia s Independent Film School) Summer Film Camps for Teens. Visit The Summer Pre-College Experience at Ramapo College is designed for high school sophomores, juniors and seniors. This is a great opportunity to explore and learn more about your state university. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. The event will be held rain or shine. Hundreds of current Rutgers professors and students will be available to tell you all the university has to offer. Tours of the campus will be given all day. Dozens of presentations, music events, talks, and other activities are planned for students, parents, and even young children.
