These applications can be filled out and submitted at Al Wright Scholarship: Scholarship Opportunities This scholarship is available to mobile migrant students who are entering college for the first time. Aspiring Fashion Professional: This is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to students that are interested in pursuing a fashion degree at an accredited post-secondary school or college. Interested students can visit to find the scholarship details and application. Deadline: June 1, 2015 Aspiring Animation Professional: Animation Career Review is offering high school students a $1,000 scholarship opportunity. This scholarship is for high school seniors interested in pursuing an animation career path at an accredited post-secondary school or college. 2 JCI Senate Foundation Scholarship: Each year $1, grants will be awarded to graduating High School Seniors in the United States, who plan to continue their education at an accredited post-secondary college, university or vocational school. The grants can be used at the institution of choice. Please see the school website for an application and requirements. Deadline: January 9, 2015 Mediacom Scholarship: Mediacom Communications is again offering $1, non-renewable scholarships through its World Class Scholarship Program to senior high school students in areas of 21 states where it provides services for cable, Internet and telephone. There are 60 scholarships of $1, each to graduating high school students attending accredited post-secondary institutions (four-year University, two-year community college, a technical institution or other institutions that provide further training and education beyond high school) in the fall of Applicants do not need to be a customer of Mediacom; however, they must live in an area serviced by Mediacom. Deadline: February 16, 2015 William Penn Area Scholarship : Scholarship offered by William Penn University to students that graduate from a high school located in the counties surrounding Mahaska County. This scholarship guarantees that the student will pay no more than 5,000 out of pocket for tuition/general fees per academic level. See website for details. Grand Lodge of Iowa Scholarship: The Grand Lodge Scholarship Committee is pleased to announce that again scholarships will be awarded to a number so students graduating this academic year from public high schools within the state. The final determination of the number and the amount for this year is dependent upon the investment income earned. Forms are available on the school website or at Deadline: February 3, 2013 Iowa Scholarship for the Arts: Iowa high school seniors are encouraged to apply for the 2015 Iowa Scholarship for the Arts. The Iowa Scholarship for the Arts supports the development of outstanding high school seniors who excel in the arts and are enrolled in accredited educational programs leading to careers in the arts. Scholarships in the amount of $1,500 are awarded to support academic year tuition expenses at Iowa colleges or universities. Please see visit the Iowa Scholarship for the Arts website to apply.

3 Strayer-Rairden Scholarship in Physics: The Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Iowa will award one $ grant each year, renewable for up to three successive years following the initial award, to an entering freshman from the state of Iowa. This person must have physics or astronomy as their major at the University of Iowa. This scholarship is awarded based on academic merit, not financial need. Please go to for more details. For forms and application, please see Deadline: January 31, NFIB Young Entrepreneur Award: The NFIB has announced its Young Entrepreneur Scholarship 2015 graduating seniors. There are a minimum of 100 scholarships including non-renewable and renewable awards, nationwide, ranging in value of 1,000-15,000. The scholarship recognizes the entrepreneurial spirit of graduating high school seniors. To apply you must be a graduating high school senior, have an established business, and demonstrates entrepreneurial spirit and initiative through starting his/her own business; and participating in organizations such as DECA, JA, FBLA, FFA, NFTE, and/or others. For more information and an application, please visit Deadline: December 18, 2014 University of Northern Iowa: The College of Business Administration at the University of Northern Iowa would like to invite high school seniors who intend to major in Business and consider attending the University of Northern Iowa to apply and participate in its twelfth annual UNI Business Freshman Scholarship Day. This is an invitation only program. In order to qualify for an invitation, students must have both ACT math and ACT composite scores of 27 or higher. 4 AXA Achievement Scholarships: AXA offers two scholarships to students to help with college expenses all over the United States. Please see the school website for a listing or visit axa-achievement.com for more information. Jeremy Allen Memorial Scholarship: Jeremy was a beloved friend, son, uncle, and brother. He stood 6 4 and was a talented baseball player with aspirations to play professionally. He was looking forward to getting his driver s license on his 16 th birthday, less than three weeks away. Jeremy s story teaches us the importance of preventing school violence by telling a teacher or counselor if you know of any impending fight, and to be a good role model for other students by promoting non-violent ways to solve conflicts, even if you are acting in the defense of others. His story is a reminder that a decision you make in one second may have a lifetime impact on you, family, and friends. The Jeremy Allen Memorial Scholarship is dedicated to the memory of Jeremy Allen, an OHS student and athlete who was killed July 25, 1994, as the result of a fight outside of OHS. The scholarship will award one male student $1,000 for embodying the principles of non-violence and sportsmanship. Qualifications: Male member of OHS baseball or football team, Legion league baseball, or Senior Babe Ruth baseball. Students will need to complete a 1-page essay, submit two recommendation letters, and have no history of violence. Application: available in the guidance office or online at the Ottumwa Schools website This scholarship may be applied to any post secondary program, including trade school, apprenticeship, certificate training program, or college tuition. Students who meet the qualifications are encouraged to apply, regardless of GPA or class rank. Deadline: April 3, 2015 Fahrney Education Foundation Scholarship Trust: The Fahrney Education Foundation Scholarship Trust has announced their scholarship for graduating seniors. The Fahrney Scholarship is a 2, award for students graduating in The applicant must be a resident of Wapello County for more than one year. They must attend a college or university in the State of Iowa. Applications will be considered based on scholastic performance and citizenship. The application is all online this year. Please see the school website for details and instructions. Deadline: February 15, 2015 J. Ralph and Gladys Meier Scholarship Trust: This trust was created exclusively for educational purposes. It allows students who have graduated or will graduate from high schools in Wapello, Keokuk, and Mahaska counties and who are scholastically ranked in the upper one half of their graduation class to apply for the scholarship. 5 Hy-Vee Foundation Scholarship: The Hy-Vee Foundation awards up to 40-$1,000 scholarships to students seeking a four-year degree at any baccalaureate degree granting college in the US. The 40-$1,000 scholarships are available to current seniors who are currently employed with Hy-Vee or subsidiary of Hy-Vee who started on or before September 15, 2013 or a son or daughter of a full, regular, and part-time Hy-Vee and subsidiary associates who have a minimum of six months employment with the company as of September 15, Please see school website for application. Deadline: February 10, 2015 America s Farmers Grow Ag Leaders: This scholarship program is making rural students aware of the different career opportunities in agriculture while offering $1, scholarships to help them pursue higher education. Please visit FFA.org/scholarships between November 15, 2014-February 1, 2015 for an application and list of eligibility requirements. You do not need to be an FFA member to apply. Deadline: February 1, 2015 Class of 1989 Scholarship: The Class of 1989 is offering two, $ scholarships to Ottumwa High School seniors. Applicants must plan to further their education at one of the following: community college, technical program, private or public university, or other occupational specific training program. Deadline: March 6, 2015 Pearl Hull Falk Scholarship: MidWest One Bank in Iowa City administers the Pearl Hull Falk Trust that provides funds for this scholarship each year. Between 75 and 85 scholarships in the amount of $ are available each year. The money is paid directly to the recipients in installments of $ at the beginning of each semester. 6 ICAN Outstanding Student Scholarship Honoring Steve Loven: This scholarship is designed to recognize students who will be attending a two- or four-year institution in Iowa and have worked to prepare for their post-high school endeavors through career and college readiness programs with both their school counselor and the Iowa College Access Network. This scholarship requires that you submit an essay outlining; how the Iowa College Access Network (ICAN) helped prepare them for their post-high school endeavors and how their school counselor promoted a culture of college and career readiness at their school. The school counselor must be mentioned by name, and examples of school counseling excellence and a positive perception of a college-going culture should be provided Two $500 one-time scholarships Iowa high school seniors graduating in 2015 Attending a two- or four-year institution in Iowa beginning in Fall Due March 1, 2015 To submit your applications go to Edward J. Schwartz Perpetual Educational Trust Fund Scholarship: The Edward J. Schwartz Perpetual Educational Trust Fund Scholarship awards scholarships of $ or less for the graduating seniors of The applicant must be a resident of Wapello County and be enrolled as a full time undergraduate student at St. Ambrose University, University of Iowa, Iowa State University or the University of Northern Iowa. Deadline: March 1, 2015 Grand Lodge of Iowa MCED Technical Scholarships: The Grand Lodge A.F & A.M in Cedar Rapids is pleased to offer the Mark Earl and Esther Ruth Spencer Technical Scholarship. Scholarships will be awarded to a number so students graduating Iowa high school seniors who plan to enroll in a mechanical or trade course of study at an accredited Iowa Community College. The scholarship can be used for any bona fide school related expenses such as tuition, fees, books, and tools. Please see school website for application materials.
