1 DUBOIS COUNTY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMS THAT DO NOT USE THE COMMON SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION These are some other local opportunities. Procedures and deadlines vary for each. 1. LILLY ENDOWMENT COMMUNITY SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Administered by the Dubois County Community Foundation Eligible students must receive a diploma from Dubois County High School in 2016 and must have attended all four years of high school at a Dubois County high school. Eligible students must complete the Academic and/or Technical Honors Diploma and have a minimum GPA of 3.5. Eligible students must be accepted to pursue a full-time baccalaureate course of study in the fall at an accredited public or private college or university in Indiana for the fall semester of Scholarship provides full tuition, required fees and $900 stipend for required books and equipment. Applications will be reviewed for academic performance; participation is school activities and work experience; attendance; community service and volunteer activities; and personal motivation to succeed & ability to articulate clearly stated goals. If selected as a finalist, you may be interviewed by the scholarship committee. The deadline for submitting an application is January 20 by 4:00 pm. Select 2016 Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship link to access the application. Follow the instructions and select submit for it to be processed. You will be required to upload an official transcript. For additional information, contact Nona Baker at DUBOIS COUNTY PURDUE SCHOLARSHIP: VIRGIL "GUS" GRISSOM MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP The Dubois County Purdue Club will be awarding four scholarships in the amount of $1000 each this spring. The scholarships have been named in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Gus Grissom, who was a Purdue Alumnus and astronaut from Southern Indiana. The purpose of the scholarship is to promote a Purdue education and to provide financial assistance to local students attending Purdue. In order to be eligible, an individual must be a senior at a high school in Dubois County and must plan to attend the West Lafayette Campus of Purdue University for the school year. Seniors must show academic excellence of at least a 3.0 GPA, leadership in extra-curricular activities, and a high level of community involvement. PROCEDURE:

2 1. Complete the Purdue Alumni Club (Virgil Gus Grissom Memorial) Scholarship Application (that can be obtained in the Guidance Office at each county high school). 2. Compose a word essay on why Purdue University was chosen 3. Obtain three letters of reference (two being non-school related) 4. Include a current high school transcript 5. A letter of acceptance from Purdue is requested, but is not required in order to be eligible for the scholarship; however, prior to receiving scholarship money, the winner will be asked to show an acceptance letter. THE DUBOIS COUNTY COMMUNITY FOUNDATION There are several scholarships sponsored by the Dubois County Community Foundation that NDHS graduates are eligible to apply for online. Applications are available at On right side of the screen, click scholarships. Deadline to apply is by 4:00 p.m. on March 1. Hand-outs that provide more instructions on how to submit the online application are available in the outer guidance office. MASTERBRAND Scholarship Program is available to students whose parent(s) work for MBCI (MasterBrand Cabinets. Inc.) Seniors who will be attending a college, university, technical or trade school are eligible to apply. Up to ten scholarships will be awarded in the amount of $1000 annually, renewable for up to four years. Questions can be directed to Nina Auffart at or customer care WOOD CAPITAL LODGE #138 FRATERNAL ORDER OF POLICE SCHOLARSHIP Applicants must be committed to pursuing an education and career in the Law Enforcement field, a high school senior who plans to enroll as a full-time student in the fall, and a resident of Dubois County. Applications are due by May UNIVERSITY OF SOUTHERN INDIANA DUBOIS COUNTY ALUMNI CHAPTER SCHOLARSHIP This $500 award will be given to a student in Dubois County planning to attend USI in the fall. Applicants must have a minimum cumulative high school GPA of 3.0. To apply, go to alumni@usi.edu. You will need to submit a list of school and community activities you have participated in, your employment history, and your academic awards and honors. Deadline to apply is March 4 th. WILLIAM MULLEN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP SPONSORED BY THE AVIATION ASSOCIATION OF INDIANA Scholarship is available to graduating seniors of the state of Indiana who plan to study aviation at the postsecondary level. Application can be received through the college you plan to attend. Mr. Travis McQueen at or Maria Mullen at will be able to answer any questions you may have.

THE HERALD YOUTH CARRIER SCHOLARSHIP Sponsoring Organization - The Herald Purpose: In memory of Todd Hochgesang, a Herald carrier who was killed in an accident on August 29, 1979, and in recognition of the dedicated service of all Herald carriers throughout the years. Eligibility: Any high school senior who has given satisfactory service as a carrier of The Herald for no less than eighteen (18) months. The applicant need not be an active carrier at the time of application. Eligible Schools: The award may be used for study at any accredited college, university, junior college, technical or trade school in the United States to which the recipient gains admission. Selection Criteria: An anonymous judging committee shall select the recipient on the basis of route performance record, general personality and need. Amount of the Award is $500 Presentation of Award: Recipient will be notified by USPS mail. Recipient must be enrolled within one year after graduation from high school. Payment of scholarship award shall be made upon verification to the Scholarship Committee that the recipient has been admitted. Pick up application in Guidance Office in February and mail to the following address, postmark April 1: YOUTH CARRIER SCHOLARSHIP c/o THE HERALD P.O. BOX 31 JASPER, IN THE DUBOIS COUNTY ALUMNI CLUB OF INDIANA STATE UNIVERSITY Two $1000 scholarships are available to Dubois County students who have a minimum GPA of 2.7 and are attending ISU in the fall. Applications and additional information is available by contacting to Kent Reyling at or kent.reyling@kimball.com. Applications will also be avaialble in the outer guidance office in February. Deadline to apply is May HUNTINGBURG VFW POST #2366 Two $500 scholarships will be awarded to graduating seniors of post members. Any student with a relative (father, grandfather, brother) affiliated with Post #2366 is eligible to apply. Applications are in the guidance office and must be mailed by April 12. Questions can be directed to Mark YOUNG MINDS CHANGE LIVES EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM Students who donate blood at least once during their senior year will be eligible for this American Red Cross Blood Services Scholarship. No application is required. The scholarship amount awarded by Red Cross to any student(s) from our high school is

5 determined on the number of units collected at our blood drive. 13. DELTA KAPPA GAMMA SCHOLARSHIP Two $350 scholarships will be awarding to senior girls (in Dubois, Davies, or Pike counties) who plan to enroll in a college to work in a career toward education. Applications are available in the outer guidance office in February and must be mailed by April 18 th. 14. ACTORS COMMUNITY THEATRE SCHOLARSHIP A $500 scholarship will be awarding to a senior in our area who is continuing their education in the fall. Qualifications include: Participation in an ACT production or in the arts and a GPA of 3.2 or higher. For questions regarding this scholarship, please adrienne.collignon@gmail.com. DUBOIS COUNTY BUSINESS FALL OF FAME: 2016 JUNIOR ACHIEVEMENT SCHOLARSHIP This $1000 is available to any high school senior that has participated in Junior Achievement in their classroom. (Note: NDHS students have participated in the JA Personal Finance program during Economics class.) Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.8 and plan to attend either a two or four year program at a college, university, or technical school. There is an essay request for this scholarship and the recipient is required to read their winning essay at the Business Hall of Fame event on evening of May 12. Scholarship application can be picked up in the outer guidance office in February. The deadline to apply is March 1.
