Schiller, MD, FACG Develop a differential diagnosis for patients presenting with chronic nausea and vomiting; differentiate gastroparesis, cyclic vomiting syndrome, rumination syndrome and vestibular dysfunction on clinical grounds; and describe the treatment options for each of these entities. Program Description The introduction of new and novel therapeutics, new applications and innovative diagnostic techniques has created a new range of approaches to many important areas of GI disease and patient care. During this program, the specific topics of Barrett s, nausea and vomiting, POEM procedures, liver disease, deep enteroscopy, IBD, a malpractice insurance update and an update on legislative issues affecting healthcare, specifically gastroenterology, will be explored. The structure of the program includes a mix of didactic presentations delivered by expert faculty, interactive audience discussions as well as significant question and answer opportunities. This program is designed for gastroenterologists, primary care physicians, nurses, physician assistants and nurse practitioners interested in the latest information on diagnostic GI and state of the art treatment of these illnesses. Accreditation/CME This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the accreditation requirements and policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint providership of the American College of Gastroenterology and the Louisiana Gastroenterology Society. The American College of Gastroenterology is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians. The American College of Gastroenterology designates this live educational activity for a maximum of 8.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Registration The registration fee includes a course syllabus and some food service. All registrants must pay the full registration fee; one-day registration or other partial registration is not available.

Balart, MD, MACG Summarize the most recent advances in the treatment of chronic hepatitis C; discuss the indications for treatment with new agents; and identify strategies to manage patients with the new treatments. 12:15 am LUNCHEON SESSION: New Updates Regarding GI in the Era of the Health Affordability Act Sen. Cassidy, MD, FACG Review the Affordable Care Act and recognize the impact of health reform on the clinical GI practice. 1:15 pm Break/Visit Posters and Exhibits 1:30 pm Biologic Therapy for Inflammatory Bowel Disease: Is Top-Down Too Top-Heavy? Hobley, MD, MSc, FACG, leading experts will discuss Barrett s esophagus and esophageal adenocarcinoma, chronic nausea and vomiting, sphincter of Oddi syndrome, hepatitis C, POEM, small bowel enteroscopy, current and emerging strategies of biologic therapy for IBD, various modalities of advanced imaging of the GI tract, fundamentals in colon cancer screening, and LAMMICO. In addition, a special lunch presentation on Saturday will feature a discussion on the Affordable Care Act and its impact on clinical GI practice.
