Contact Details: What is Barnardos? Barnardos supports children whose well being is under threat, by working with them, their families and communities and by campaigning for the rights of children. Barnardos was established in Ireland in 1962 and is Irelands leading Children s charity. What does the Fundraising Department do? Barnardos fundraising department is responsible for raising voluntary income to support Barnardos services in Ireland. We do this through a variety of different channels such as : Donor Marketing campaigns Events Corporate Fundraising Trust and Foundations What will the Head of Donor Marketing do? Reporting to the Fundraising Manager the role is to develop the Barnardos Donor Marketing strategy. You will oversee the planning and implementation of all donor marketing campaigns and donor communication programmes within the Fundraising team. The aim of this role is to increase voluntary income for Barnardos services with vulnerable children and families, increase and maintain donor loyalty and reduce attrition. The Donor Marketing team is comprised of the following staff; 2 Donor Marketing Executives 1 Data Analyst 1 Database Operator Who do we work with? 3 Job Description Post: Location: Responsible to: Works with: Head of Donor Marketing Dublin, with travel required Fundraising Manager Director of Fundraising & Marketing, Fundraising Manager, Donor Marketing Team, Fundraising Team and other departments within Barnardos as appropriate Job purpose The Head of Donor Marketing is responsible for leading a team of fundraisers, marketers and a data analyst in developing and delivering on the donor recruitment, engagement and development strategy. The primary aim of this role is to increase voluntary income for Barnardos services with vulnerable children and families, build the donor database, increase and maintain donor loyalty, and reduce attrition. This role leads the team in the development and implementation of all donor recruitment, direct marketing campaigns and donor communication programmes. The role ensures the delivery of best in class campaigns delivering excellent donor care, engagement and management. Core Job Requirements Develop the Barnardos Donor Marketing Strategy, incorporating all areas within the Fundraising team. Manage the team in the development, planning and implementation of Donor Marketing appeals and campaigns to Barnardos donor database using all appropriate direct marketing techniques, both above the line and below the line. Manage the Donor Marketing team targets and expenditure budget. Develop annual plans and strategy to deliver on income and expenditure targets. Work with the Fundraising Manager and Head of Corporate and Events to develop cohesive and effective campaigns to engage and retain donors and supporters. Develop Communication Traffic plans for the Fundraising team to ensure consistency of message and appropriate timing of correspondence. Act as an internal advocate for donors and ensure they are at the centre of all activities.

4 Oversee the timely evaluation of all campaigns and provide comprehensive reports on each campaign. Optimise and manage the donor database including data segmentation, targeting and extraction. Liaise with Barnardos services to children to acquire information for use in donor communication materials. Internal communications - keep key stakeholders informed of all fundraising activity on a timely basis. Working with fundraising team and manager in achieving overall targets and goals. General administration and dealing with enquires, requests, ad-hoc donations. Work during unsocial hours may be required. Have a flexible approach to the work in response to organisational change, development and review of best practice. Participate in and engage with a performance management programme. Identify training needs with your line manager and participate in training opportunities appropriate to the role To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health & Safety Officer. To participate in the efficient flow of information within the organisation by sharing and seeking information as appropriate To undertake other duties as may be requested by the line manager from time to time To undertake your work in a manner that is friendly, flexible and informal. Person Specification Personal Attributes - Flexibility, innovation and initiative. - An excellent knowledge of marketing techniques, in particular how to promote existing and new initiatives. - Excellent communication and presentation skills, verbal, written and face to face. - Excellent managerial skills - Excellent project management and planning skills. - Excellent organisational and administrative skills. - The ability to juggle a wide range of activities, prioritise own workload and meet deadlines. - Excellent computer skills and working experience in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and database packages (Raisers Edge preferable).
