3 INTRODUCTION Velo-city 2017 is the world s largest conference in the area of cycling, cycling infrastructure, bicycle innovations, bicycle safety, and the social and cultural changes driven by cycling on a global scale. Velo-city 2017 is a brand owned by the European Cyclists Federation (ECF), which is headquartered in Brussels. In even years, the conference is held intercontinentally, and in odd years in Europe. Held for the first time in 1980 in Bremen, the conference has seen participation increase steadily and attracted extensive global media interest. The most recent previous editions of Velo-city were hosted by Vienna (2013), Adelaide (2014), Nantes (2015), and Taipei (2016). 3

7 THE NETHERLANDS: ARNHEM NIJMEGEN REGION From June 2017, the Velo-city conference and associated exhibition and numerous side events and excursions will take place in the world s premier cycling nation, the Netherlands. As the organizers of the 2017 event, the ECF and the Netherlands have chosen the Arnhem Nijmegen region as the host location. The Arnhem Nijmegen region is known as a leading area in terms of bicycle innovation and cycling infrastructure. The conference in Arnhem Nijmegen is expected to attract a record number of delegates. Various pre-tours and post-tours will be organised in close collaboration with cities such as Amsterdam, Utrecht, s-hertogenbosch, and The Hague. 7

18 EXHIBITION Velo-city 2017 Arnhem Nijmegen will host a state of the art exhibition along with the global cycling conference. The industry will have the opportunity to show the most leading companies, products and innovations. No less than 80 companies and organizations from all over the world will demonstrate their skills, their knowledge, their innovation power and their newly designs at this exposition. There are several possibilities to expose your company or organization. The exhibition will be located both inside the two conference buildings and an adjacent location, where the registration area will also be situated along with a part of the catering facilities. Of course there are expo booths in two standard sizes available: 3x3 m 2 ( 2.500,-- excl. VAT) and 9x6 m 2 ( 9.500,-- excl. VAT). Every additional m 2 will be possible at the price of 250,-- per m 2. 40 OTHER PARTNERSHIP OPTIONS It goes without saying that there are more sponsorship options on top of those listed above. There is, for example, also the option of partnering with one of the side events that are part of the conference programme, or one of the excursions. Your company or organisation can also specifically partner one of the leading keynote speakers (in close consultation with the programme committee). And then there is also the possible situation where your company is in a position to fulfil a specific conference need, without charging for it, and agree to receive partnership rewards in return. This is what is called a bartering agreement. Such bartering deals can consist in you providing services or goods either directly to the conference, or to one of the local councils involved in return for exposure during the conference. In the latter case, the conference organisers will obtain the monetary value of your delivery from the local council in question.
