This expertise is being harvested by the Institute s researchers to prepare and characterize novel polymeric materials that find applications in areas such as drug delivery, water-soluble cosmetics, environmentally friendly paints, oil additives, or oil recovery. Innovations in this area are expected to yield benefits of great socio-economic importance to Canada. This research aims to characterize the behavior of macromolecules at the molecular level using fluorescence and the session will demonstrate how this can be accomplished to probe interparticle polymer diffusion in a latex film. It will also include insights from the organization overseeing the waste sector in Ontario in the context of the Industry Stewardship Plan (ISP). Streamlining labelling will also help ensure safety in the workplace for those who must handle chemicals as part of their job. The presentation will draw important examples from the WHMIS 2.0 implementation of GHS, the Canadian Chemicals Management Plan, the Canada-U.S. Regulatory Cooperation Council and the government s next priorities for assessing and controlling new and existing substances.
