2 Financial Planning Week Awareness Campaign Will Reach Millions of Canadians FPSC will be conducting a variety of marketing initiatives to help raise awareness about financial planning and its importance to the well-being of Canadians. Watch for the following activities leading up to and during Financial Planning Week. Build Your Financial Plan with a CFP Professional FPSC s Build Your Financial Plan with a CFP Professional television campaign will air across the country from November 2 to 22 The television commercial and YouTube video drive viewers to the FPSC website and our Find a Planner or Certificant tool. Globe and Mail Financial Planning Week Supplement The Globe and Mail s annual Financial Planning Week Special Information Feature will reach 1.4 million print and online readers. The print edition will be available on November 16, with an online component that is updated and promoted on social media platforms and other channels through February FP Standard The FP Standard magazine, FPSC s semi-annual publication of ideas, thoughts and trends in the financial planning profession, will be published on November 7 and will reach more than 70,000 readers in the financial services industry through insertion in Investment Executive. On October 1, FPSC will launch the consumer website financialplanningforcanadians.ca with an abundance of content that will assist consumers in making appropriate considerations when it comes to financial planning and choosing a qualified professional to assist in the process. The launch will be supported by online advertising, media relations outreach, and will include special features. Throughout the month of October, FPSC will be encouraging Canadians to participate in a poll, the results of which will be used to provide content for earned media and outreach. 3 8 Ways Your Organization Can Raise Client Awareness of Financial Planning Week and the Importance of Financial Planning 1. Have your teams ensure that their profiles on the FPSC Find a Planner and Certificant tool are up to date and comprehensive. To update their profiles they must log in here. 2. Be sure your clients and other stakeholders know the Value of Financial Planning. Use this threeyear longitudinal study on the impact of comprehensive financial planning related to the financial and emotional well-being of consumers. The results can be used to support your own news releases, blogs and advertisements. Hard copies of the research summary brochure are available for purchase through the FPSC Portal. 3. Share the Build Your Financial Plan with a CFP Professional video, available on YouTube, with your employees, clients and social media networks. 4. Help your clients understand How is Financial Stress Affecting Canadians? with FPSC s research and infographic showing that many Canadians consider money to be their greatest stress. 5. Issue your own financial planningrelated news and research findings to local and national media leading up to and during Financial Planning Week. Engage your communications staff or public relations firm to secure newspaper, radio and television interviews. 6. Use FPSC s customizable Here s the Plan brochure and presentation to help your clients understand the financial planning process, the benefits of engaging in financial planning and the value of working with a CFP professional. 7. Get your clients engaged! Have them participate in the FPSC poll that will be available throughout the month of October on FinancialPlanningforCanadians.ca. They will have an opportunity to win cash prizes if they share links to the site with their social networks. 8. Repurpose the editorial content available October 1st on our new consumer site, FinancialPlanningforCanadians.ca. Share articles of interest with your clients and prospects. Connect with Your Stakeholders on Social Media Use the hashtag #FPWCanada for Facebook, Twitter and Instagram posts. Spread the word about the long and short-term benefits of sound financial planning. Tweet remarks at the FPSC-hosted events which include the Celebration of the Profession Dinner in Toronto, Ethics Breakfasts in Toronto and Vancouver and the CFP Professional Symposiums in Toronto and Vancouver.
