Live Scan All volunteers that participate at David. M. Gonzales Recreation Center must be live scan by the Department of Recreation and Parks RAISE THE BAR David M. Gonzales Recreation Center is involved in a City-sponsored program called Raise the Bar. The objective of this program is to promote and provide sports opportunities to girls and women. Our goal, at David M. Gonzales Recreation Center, is to increase girls and women s participation in sports activities by providing a variety of choices in sports programming. David. M. Gonzales R.C. offers youth sports, clinics, classes, adult leagues, camp and sports camp, all of which provide opportunities for girls and women of all ages to develop sports skills and participate in sports activities. Achieving gender equity through a continuous commitment to girls and women in sports. 3 P A G E 3 Registration Information WELCOME! Please read the following information carefully. A review of the registration procedures will assist you with a successful registration process. -REGISTRATION ONLY PERMITTED FOR IMMEDIATE FAMILY ONLY All classes must be paid in full at the time of registration. Registration is taken on a first come, first serve basis. Classes have limited available space. When registering for a class, please have the following: -Exact amount of payment for the classes -MAKE CHECKS PAYABLE TO: L.A. CITY RECREATION AND PARKS There will be a $35.00 handling charge for any insufficient, cancelled checks Only personal checks, cashier s checks, money orders, credit cards and exact cash accepted No post dated, out of state, or temporary checks accepted. Check must contain name and address -REFUND POLICY: A non refundable 15% administration fee will be assessed by the Recreation Center for any patron granted a refund, change, or transfer per class or sports league registration No full refunds will be issued unless a classes or sports league is canceled by the Recreation Center. -Administration reserves the right to cancel or combine classes if minimum enrollment is not met Check starting dates for individual classes -No make up classes for a participant s absence and no substitutions -All information in the brochure is subject to change without prior notice -Neither the City of Los Angeles, nor David. GONZALES RECREATION CENTER HERRICK AVE PACOIMA, CA (818) YOUTH/ADULT CLASSES & ACTIVITIES Winter Classes Begin January 4th, 2016 CLASS DAY/S TIME AGE FEE ROOM INSTRUCTOR Preschool MWF 10am-1pm 3-5 $25/month Preschool Staff Students will learn basic fundamental skills, numbers, alphabet, etc, in preparation for entering into grade school. Parent & Me MW 11:30am-1pm $15/month Preschool Ms. Luz Parents and children will interact in a fun and friendly environment. Exercises in games, arts & crafts, and some socialization skills to assist in youth development. Ballet 1 Tuesday 3:00-3:45pm 3-5 $15/month Dance Ms. Alicia Ballet 2 Tuesday 4:00-5:00pm 5-12 $15/month Dance Ms. Alicia Students learn the basics of ballet which includes; conditioning, pilates, techniques, body alignment, pirouette, and ballet etiquette. This class is on-going and on a month-month basis. Fall recital December 17th. Hip Hop I Monday 4:00pm - 5:00pm 5 & up $15/month Dance Staff Learn the basics and the latest dance moves with a qualified Hip Hop instructor. Dancers will perform at center organized events. Piano (Beg./Int) Saturday 10am-130pm(TBA) 7&up $25/month Dance Mr. Raul Piano (Beg./Int.) Wednesday 7:00-9:00pm (TBA) 7&up $25/month Dance Mr. Raul Learn the basics of Piano by a qualified pianist. The classes are private sessions each half-hour Guitar Wednesday 6:00-7:00pm 9&up $25/month Dance Mr. Raul Students will learn the basics acoustic guitar. Students must have their own guitar. Tiny Tot Tumbling Wednesday 5:00-6:00pm 3-5 $25/month Dance Staff Pre-Gymnastics Wednesday 5:00-6:00pm 6-12 $25/month Dance Staff Youth participants will be taught the basics of gymnastics and basic tumbling skills Cheerleading Wednesday 6-7pm 5-12 $25/month Dance A. Bellman Self Defense Monday 5:00-6:00pm 13&up $15/month Dance D. Bellman Tae Kwon Do Thursday 6-7pm 8-12 Free Dance H. Cortinez Tae Kwon Do Thursday 7-8pm 13&up Free Dance H. Cortinez Students learn basic self-defense techniques by a qualified self defense expert. Aztec Dance Thursday 7:30-9pm 18&up Free Gym Staff Free class in the Art of Aztec dancing. Boxing Mon-Fri. 5:30-7:30pm 8 & up $25/month Boxing Gym Staff This USA sanctioned program provides a daily program that gives instructions in boxing, sparring, footwork, competition, etc. Boxing Aerobics M-W-F 9-11:30am 18&up $25/month Boxing Gym M. Murillo This class is open to women ages 18 & over, Trainings includes, weight loss, self confidence, fitness and cardio. This is a monthly ongoing class. GONZALES RECREATION CENTER HERRICK AVE PACOIMA, CA (818) WINTER BASKETBALL All players must be age appropriate prior to January 1st, 2016 Registration Information: Registration for the 2016 Winter Basketball Leagues begins November 2nd and will continue until all teams are filled. In the event of low-registration age divisions/ leagues may be combined to run a program. Due to the popularity of our leagues any requests will not be honored. Older teams may have to travel to other locations to play. Fees/costs: Individual registration fees include the cost of Jersey, trophy, official s fees, and some administration costs. League Play: League play is expected to begin January 9th and continue for approximately 10 weeks. Games will be played during the week and on Saturday. Mighty Mites/Pee Wee games will only be played on Saturdays (times TBA), and no evaluations. Some games may be played at different locations during the season. Proof of Age: All participants must submit some type of proof of age at the time of registration - to be kept on file at the park. Evaluations: All players must be evaluated prior to being placed on a team. Please see below evaluation schedule below (if applicable) Volunteer Coaches are needed! Games will be played games on Sunday afternoon. Players will be evaluated prior to being placed on a team to create parity in the league. Evaluation Sunday 1/10 at 6pm ADULT CO-REC SOFTBALL (Teams Only -- Ages 18 & up) $175 team registration fee plus $15 for umpire. Games will be played on Sunday evenings after 4 pm.
