2 OSBA Advertising Opportunities Member Profile The Ohio State Bar Association, founded in 880, is a voluntary professional association representing more than 65 percent of Ohio s practicing lawyers (about 24,000). As advisors to clients at virtually every stage of business, legal professionals are unsurpassed in the areas of financial services and planning, banking, insurance and investments. Ohio lawyers have a sizable investment in computerizing their offices and will continue to enhance their investment by upgrading and expanding current equipment. Our readers are major consumers of legal technology, such as billing software, document software, electronic equipment, such as cell phones, smart phones, copy machines, voice mail and paging systems. Delivery services, mailing services, process servers, deposition and reporting services, and temporary officer personnel are essential to our readers. Readers are also interested in summer camps, private schools, real estate and vacation homes, luxury items (jewelry, fine art, automobiles, recreational vehicles), security systems, cultural events, travel services, restaurants and financial/investment services. Advertising Policy This policy governs advertising in the publications of the Ohio State Bar Association and on the OSBA website. OSBA publications include Ohio Lawyer, Ohio State Bar Association Report and OSBA Report Online, as well as any other of its publications that the OSBA determines will accept advertising. The Ohio State Bar Association reserves the right to reject any advertisement submitted for publication. While advertising copy is reviewed, no endorsement of any product or service offered by any advertisement is intended or implied by publication in OSBA publications (electronic or print) or on the OSBA website. Advertising must be consistent with the Ohio Rules of Professional Conduct and the Ohio Code of Judicial Conduct; however, publication of an advertisement does not constitute a determination that it complies. Pre-payment is required for all first-time advertisers. The OSBA will not accept the following types of ads: Religious; Political candidate; Political issue (except for those issues upon which the OSBA Board of Governors has taken a position); Tobacco and alcohol; Lotteries, contests; Pornographic material; Firearms; Illegal products/services; Improper, distasteful, obscene; and Ads deemed not to be appropriate for publishing by the OSBA. In addition, the OSBA will not accept the following types of ads on the OSBA website and/or in digital publications: Ads from direct competitors of OSBA CLE; and Ads from direct competitors of the Ohio Bar Liability Insurance Company. OSBA may accept video ads, including for display and publications as part of continuing legal education. Advertising from lawyers is accepted in OSBA print publications because those publications are directed to lawyers and law-related persons or businesses. Digital advertising from attorneys or offering legal services whose products or services compete with OSBA members will only be permitted in member password-protected areas. OSBA staff members review ads and determine if content is appropriate. Staff shall develop a guide and protocols for reviewing ads. Ohio Lawyer Magazine Published bimonthly, the award-winning Ohio Lawyer features articles on legal developments and issues, as well as columns that focus on legislative issues, ethical and malpractice concerns, technology updates, practice tips, book and website reviews and legal news briefs. Ohio Lawyer helps Ohio attorneys stay current and share in-depth information on the legal profession with their colleagues around the state. All preferred positions are full-page, four-color process only. Contracts for covers may not be cancelled. Cancellation Policy No cancellations are accepted after the space reservation deadline. When new art or instructions are not received by the material deadline, previous ads will be repeated according to contract. All advertisers who do not fulfill their complete contract will be rebilled for the rate difference between the number of times their ads actually ran and the number contracted. Errors It is the advertiser s responsibility to review ads and report errors immediately after the first run. The OSBA is responsible for only one incorrect insertion. November/December Sept. 22 Oct. Ohio Lawyer is published six times per year. Ad placement orders will be accepted as long as space is available, until the ad artwork deadline. Artwork is due the first of the month preceding issue date. Discounts A 5 percent discount is offered to advertisers who prepay a year s advertising and run at least three times in Ohio Lawyer. Payment must accompany order. Terms of Payment First-time advertisers must prepay their first ad by ad artwork deadline. Pre-invoices can be created upon request. All invoiced ads must be paid by the material deadline for the issue in which the next ad is scheduled to appear. Failure to submit payment by that date will result in cancellation of next ad run. Insertion orders are required for each issue. Preprinted Insert Specifications The preprinted insert rate is $,858 per issue when inserts are furnished according to mechanical specifications. All inserts are saddle-stitched in the magazine. Inserts must be submitted for mechanical approval prior to acceptance. Charges for inserts that require tip-in, trimming or other special handling costs are in addition to space rate. Preferred paper stock Uncoated: At least 60 lb. text weight Coated: At least 80 lb. text weight Double cards or single-card with tab All card inserts must have a /4-inch head trim. If submitting a single card with a tab, the tab must be 5 inches wide. If the card is designed to be torn out, advertiser must supply the card insert with slot perforations already included. Inserts with backbone perforations are accepted. Full-page insert with tab A 3 /6-inch head and foot trim and 3 /8 -inch high folio or /8-inch low folio face trim are required. Tab must be 5 inches wide. Two-page spread insert A 3 /6 -inch head and foot trim and 3 /8-inch high folio and /8-inch low folio are required. The dimensions for a two-page spread are /2 inches high by 7 /2 inches wide, sent folded for placement into the magazine. If the insert is designed with bleeds (the final printed dimension would be x7), make sure to bleed /4-inch into the trim.

4 OSBA Report The OSBA Report, Ohio lawyers bi-weekly practice resource, publishes the most recent decisions from the Supreme Court of Ohio, in addition to decisions from Ohio appellate courts. The Report also publishes the latest opinions from the Ohio Attorney General and the Board of Commissioners on Grievances and Discipline. The OSBA Report includes legislative updates and classified advertising with dozens of statewide job opportunities. The OSBA Report is cited in OSBA surveys as the product that provides the most value to lawyers in their law practices. It is the essential resource for Ohio lawyers. Display Advertising The OSBA Report does not offer advertising in color. It is a black and white publication. Special position requests cannot be guaranteed. The publisher reserves the right to alter incorrectly sized ads to conform to advertising format. Formatting All classified advertising will be formatted in one consistent style determined by the OSBA Report. For specific questions on classified advertising formats, contact the OSBA advertising sales department. Errors Typographical errors in classified advertisements will be compensated in the form of running the corrected advertisement for one week only (no refunds). It is the responsibility of advertisers to review their ads and report errors immediately after the first run. The OSBA Report is responsible for only one incorrect insertion. The display and classified advertising deadlines are noon, Wednesday, 2 days before the date of publication. Ads are accepted on a space-available basis. Holiday schedules may alter this deadline.

5 Digital Advertising: OhioBar.org As a growing tool for our members, Ohiobar.org is a valuable resource for the legal community of Ohio. The OSBA website offers information and services to both the public and to our members. Our members look to our site for OSBA news and events, online legal research, discussion lists, CLE information and offerings, career tips and updates, specialized newsletters, and current and past issues of Ohio Lawyer and the OSBA Report, as well as legal news. Our members also use our site as a source to purchase legal materials and practice aids, for membership information and benefits, and for services offered by advertisers. The public uses our site for consumer legal information, legal news and to find attorneys. Ohiobar.org Ohiobar.org is the OSBA s state-of-the-art website, drawing more than 350,000 page views each month, where members and the public can access legal news, member benefits, discussion lists, publications and legal information. All OSBA members have access to the full OSBA website. The public has access to the public side of the website only, which offers everything on the member site with the exception of member benefits, such as member publications and discounts. Ohiobar.org offers online CLE, a daily version of the OSBA Report, Casemaker, online member communities, legislative updates and news that affects the Ohio legal community.
