1 CALL FOR PAPERS WATER FOR GROWTH AND PROSPERITY Australia has many unique advantages including our world-class resources, proximity to Asia, a temperate climate and the distinct opportunity of growth industries including agribusiness, mining, and tourism. However, for all these industries to prosper they require one vital element water. Safe water. Secure water. Sustainable water. Access to water. Many challenges lie ahead for the water sector in managing water in urban, regional and rural contexts. We need water professionals and organisations to step-up and lead innovation, debate and provide technical know-how across the broad scope of water and wastewater management to ensure we harness these opportunities, both domestically and overseas. Ozwater 15 will once again attract national and international speakers, and delegates, to attain a new wealth of industry knowledge and cultivate strong and applicable ideas to ensure the longevity of our greatest resource. 2 Call for Papers NOW open The Australian Water Association (AWA) is calling for submissions to present papers for oral, poster, or workshop presentations at Australia s leading water event Ozwater 15. Abstracts can relate to a technical paper or a case study. You are invited to submit an extended abstract that presents a challenging and practical perspective on any of the conference themes. The Ozwater 15 Committee hopes that a wide range of people with diverse interests in water will come together and share their views to encourage innovation and development through the exchange of ideas. Water is one of the fundamentals of life and essential for Australia s growth and prosperity. The water industry continues to face many challenges including meeting the affordability requirements of our customers, supporting the economic growth of the nation and planning for the changing climatic conditions. Ozwater 15 provides the opportunity for water and wastewater management to be discussed and examined through papers, case studies and interactive sessions. I encourage you to submit an abstract detailing recent successes, projects and learnings for the industry. Water is such a significant part of so many aspects of our lives and I look forward to seeing abstracts from not only the water utilities and academia but also from other sectors including mining, agriculture, environment, and the community. There is a need for us all to work together to ensure the prosperity of our nation. Through participating in Ozwater 15 you will have the opportunity to both inform and be part of the debate. 3 Best presentation Awards The best oral and poster presentations will be awarded the Ozwater Best Presentation Awards at the closing ceremony. Presentation Types Abstracts will be considered for oral presentation or poster presentation. These can be technical or case study format. Platform presentations: Oral presentations will be scheduled at 20 minutes each (including speaker introduction) plus 5 minutes question time. Audio visual support will be in PowerPoint format. eposters: Selected posters will be displayed in electronic format for the duration of the conference. eposters are webpage documents produced by the authors prior to the conference. The posters include text, figures and images, just as in traditional paper posters. eposters can be browsed by session and topic, and can be searched using author names and keywords, all in a few seconds, from one computer. Meet the Author sessions will be scheduled during Ozwater 15 to give conference delegates the opportunity to speak with poster authors. The eposters will be included in the online conference proceedings. Selection of Presentations The selection of papers to be presented at Ozwater 15 will be determined by an abstract peer-review process guided by the Ozwater 15 Program Committee. Scoring will be based on: Relationship and significance to the themes of the conference Originality Status of the project Technical content Interest and significance to the Ozwater audience Quality (spelling, layout, etc.) Presentations must be based on outcomes, not future projects. Case studies can refer to international development and opportunities. Ozwater is the leading water sector conference in Australia and as such, the quality of presentation delivery should be of the highest standard. Past presenting experience (oral presentations only) of the submitting author will be considered. Any presentations of a commercial or marketing nature will not be accepted. Refer to (Call for Papers section) for detailed criteria for selection. Submission of Extended Abstracts Extended abstracts for papers may only be submitted through the official Ozwater 15 website ( ed or faxed abstracts will not be considered. Abstracts are to be submitted as a PDF document, using the template and guidelines available at Extended abstracts are a maximum 2 x A4 pages of text with up to 3 additional A4 pages of supporting tables and graphics. Abstracts may be amended or withdrawn before 28 August By submitting an abstract, it will be assumed that all authors have consented to its submission and that all copyright provisions listed elsewhere have been met. The paper accepted into the Ozwater 15 program must not have been presented or published previously.

4 Conditions of Presenting at Ozwater 15 For a paper to be accepted and presented at the conference: A paid registration (full conference or at least on the day of presentation) must be received in advance from the presenting author. The deadline for presenter registration will be 6 March This applies to both oral and poster presenters. Authors must be prepared to confirm their copyright ownership of the paper, the originality of the work, that the paper has not been previously published in any other form and that the Australian Water Association will be granted permission to publish the paper. This must be confirmed at time of online abstract submission. A full paper must be submitted for review in January Please do not submit an abstract if you are unable to comply with any of the above conditions. Peer-Review and Publication of Full Papers Full papers for accepted oral presentations must be submitted in January Full papers will be peer-reviewed for a quality check for publication in the conference proceedings. Some authors may be required to revise their full paper based on reviewers comments. All papers accepted into the final program will be published online and made available to all delegates who attend Ozwater 15. It will also be available for purchase from AWA after the conference. CALL FOR WORKSHOPS AWA is also calling for 90 minute or 120 minute interactive workshops at Ozwater 15. Workshops should have a high proportion of audience participation which is achieved via formats such as World Café. Refer to (Call for Papers section) for application information. Please note, workshop presenters must be confirmed prior to submitting the application. Final Date for Abstract Submission Thursday 28 August 2014 Visit for specific submission information. Case studies can feature international development and opportunities or could be a showcase of work that individuals or organisations are undertaking overseas.
