The Vinoy Renaissance St. Petersburg Resort & Golf Club is a unique piece of Florida history and offers world class amenities in a great resort setting. The Vinoy Resort has provided a special reduced rate for our members. The rates will be honored three days before and after the meeting, subject to availability. We hope you will take advantage of this opportunity to attend our educational sessions, network, and enjoy the many hotel amenities at this magnificent Gulf Coast venue. The annual meeting will commence on Thursday, August 6 th, with our board meeting, Council of Past Presidents and Opening Welcome Reception. Friday morning the educational sessions get underway. I think we will have another great series of presentations by our speakers. DRI sponsored speaker, Ralph F. Valitutti of Kitch Counselors, will be discussing the effect of the Affordable Healthcare Act on Life Care Plans. That afternoon, the annual golf tournament will be held at the resort s private 18-hole golf course. This is a rare opportunity to play a truly unique golf course. As always, the golf tournament should be a lot of fun in the sun and Jeff Johnson has again agreed to lead the charge. The day will conclude with family Night at the Dalí Museum filled with unique experiences as the FDLA takes over the museum. There will be great food for all ages, educational programs and a scavenger hunt for those who want to see and learn a lot about one of the greatest artists of our time. On Saturday morning, the Annual Meeting will be held followed by the continuation of the educational sessions. Exhibitors will be on hand show casing their products and services. Saturday evening will conclude with our cocktail reception, dinner dance and musical entertainment. This year, we want everyone to look their best and we are having a black-tie optional affair. The theme for the Dinner/dance is a Masquerade Ball. We encourage all members and families to bring their own masquerade masks (we will have a limited supply for those who forgot available on a first come first served basis). The charity for the event will be Shands Children s Hospital. We will be doing a 50/50 raffle so be sure to bring some lose cash and maybe go home with a lot more! And, as always, we will hold our annual awards ceremony to recognize those folks who unselfishly give of their time and energy to make the FDLA one the premier SLDOs in the country. Depending on your interests, during your free time, the resort has tennis courts, a fitness center, a spa, a large pool, whirlpool spas, and many onsite boutiques and restaurants. And within walking distance is great shopping, dining, and entertainment. The reservation cut-off date is July 10, After that date rooms are subject to availability. The museum building combines the rational with the fantastical a simple rectangle out of which erupts a free-form geodesic glass bubble known as the enigma made up of 1062 triangular pieces of glass.
