4 Ovrviw This product complis with th currntly applicabl rgulations for tlphon trminals in th Europan Community. Connctions Th SD1+ is th intrfac btwn th alarm control panl and th tlphon lin. It dos not affct othr tlphon trminals. Howvr, in th vnt of an alarm, it will intrrupt a call in progrss on a down-circuit trminal. Th powr supply is usually providd by th alarm control panl. Th SD1+ has up to four triggr inputs (A,, C, D) for A - Fir, - Prsonal attack, C - urglary, D - Failur, for xampl. Ths inputs ar ithr connctd to th control panl or dirctly activatd by mans of an alarm contact. In th vnt of an alarm, th SD1+ snds th rlvant alarm mssag to up to four alarm tlphon numbrs, dpnding on th activatd alarm input. For mor information, plas rad th sction on pag 12. 4

5 Passcod A valid accss cod is rquird to configur th SD1+. This prvnts unauthorizd changs to th sttings. Plas rfr to pag 9 for furthr information. Cod typs Th accss cod rquird to program th SD1+ may b a four or six digit cod. Plas rfr to pag 10 for furthr information. Programmabl output Th SD1+ has a programmabl transistor output capabl of supplying 100mA of currnt. This output can b activatd whn th SD1+ is triggrd, whn an alarm has bn succssfully transmittd or acknowldgd, or whn th SD1+ dtcts a communication rror. For mor information s pag 11. Call routing Th SD1+ can b programmd so that a spcific txt is assignd to ach alarm phon numbr or so that ach txt is snt to all four numbrs. It is also possibl to assign spcific phon numbrs to a spcific mssag. You can slct ton or puls dialling. For mor information s pag 12. 5

6 Call abort Th SD1+ can b programmd so that if an alarm is accidntally triggrd th alarm call can b abortd in th following ways: 1) by activating a signal at th AORT TRIG input if it has bn programmd for this; 2) by claring th signal at an alarm input; 3) by ntring a valid passcod. Acknowldgmnt options Whn an alarm input is triggrd, th SD1+ immdiatly bgins calling th programmd numbrs and plays th rcordd mssags. To stop this procdur, th prson answring th call must acknowldg th alarm call by prssing 8 on th tlphon handst. Thr is also th option that all targt numbrs must first b dialld. For mor information about options s pag 15. Alarm phon numbrs Th SD1+ can dial up to four diffrnt numbrs whn thr is an alarm. Each on can hav a maximum of 24 digits and can b asily programmd using th kypad. Th SD1+ supports both puls and ton dialling. For mor information s pags

7 Rcording mssags Th SD1+ has a built-in microphon so that mssags can b rcordd on th unit. Th mssag to b snt consists of two parts: 1) an idntification txt (.g. nam and location) followd by 2) an alarm txt which is spcific to th activatd alarm input. For xampl: fir, alarm, prsonal attack. Fiv mssags in total and a maximum 40 sconds can b rcordd. Th gnral idntification mssag may not b longr than 10 sconds. For mor information s pag 19. 8 Programming: initialising th SD1+ Whn powring up th spch diallr th first tim, a factory rst is ncssary. This involvs shorting th factory rstart pins with a scrwdrivr (s th Installation Instructions). You thn s PLEASE RECORD in th display. This mans that th mmory is compltly blank (dltd). Onc th unit is programmd, SD 1+ shows in th display. To accss th programming mod a valid passcod must b ntrd (factory dfault: 1234). 1. Whn th unit is powrd up th first tim, PLEASE RECORD shows in th display. PLEASE RECORD ^ PLEASE RECORD Onc programmd, th display shows SD Entr th dfault accss cod 1234 to start (initialis) th control panl programming mod. 3. 13 Call abort If you triggr an alarm unintntionally and th diallr starts an alarm call, you can stop it in diffrnt ways: by applying a switching signal to th AORT TRIG input through INPUT (obsrv th polarity); by rmoving th triggr input signal RESTORE; or by ntring a PASSCODE. 1. 18 Programming a dialling paus If th SD1+ is connctd to th tlphon ntwork via an intrnal tlphon xchang (PAX), a dial out prfix is usually rquird. In most cass it is "0" and is dialld bfor you dial th actual phon numbr. Oldr xchangs rquir a paus btwn th "0" and th phon numbr. In th xampl blow, a paus of 3 sconds is rquird aftr th "0 prfix. 1. 19 Rcording mssags Th SD1+ can rcord an idntification mssag and four alarm mssags for a total of 40 sconds. Th idntification mssag is usually usd to convy gnral information about th location and alarm systm whil th rmaining four mssags ar assignd to th alarm inputs. At th nd of th alarm mssag it is advisabl to rfr to th acknowldgmnt procdur. 22 Tsting th acknowldgmnt function Whthr a tst call has bn startd or an alarm has bn triggrd, it is important in both cass to nsur that th rcipint is familiar with th acknowldgmnt procdur so that th alarm call can b succssfully acknowldgd and th alarm ndd. 1. Whn th rcipint s tlphon rings, it is answrd as a normal phon call. 2. Th SD1+ thn plays th gnral mssag followd by th alarm mssag of th alarm triggr. In som cass it may tak up to 5 sconds until th mssag is initiatd. 3. Aftr both mssags ar playd, a bp sounds to prompt acknowldgmnt of th alarm. Prss 8 on th tlphon handst aftr th bp to acknowldg th alarm call. 4. An acknowldgmnt ton sounds if acknowldgmnt was succssful. 5. Th rcipint should thn tak any ncssary action in viw of th alarm. 22

23 Tst call It is possibl to tst th mssag communication sttings by initiating a tst call so that you can chck th programmd mssag and phon numbr sttings. This procdur nsurs that th spch diallr is corrctly stup. for you bgin a call, mak sur th rcipint is familiar with th acknowldgmnt procdur. Th xampl blow shows you how to carry out a tst call for alarm phon numbr 1 with mssag A. 1. Ensur that th SD1+ is initialisd and th display is showing (s pag 8). 2. Prss A and th display shows 1-4/ENT TO SEND Prss C or D to slct mssag, C or D. 3. Prss 1 to snd mssag A to alarm numbr 1. Prss 23or 4 to snd th mssag to alarm numbr 2, 3 or 4. Prss to snd th mssag to all alarm phon numbrs. Aftr th SD1+ has dialld th phon numbr and dtcts th rcipint s ringing signal, th display shows RINGING. If th rcipint s ringing ton is not dtctd within 5 sconds, th SD1+ automatically starts to play th mssag. Th SD1+ first plays th gnral mssag (nam, addrss) followd by th alarm vnt. Th bp thn sounds. 24 Tst call continud If th call is succssfully acknowldgd, th display shows SENT OK. If th prson rciving th call fails to acknowldg th alarm call, th SD1+ rpats th call a maximum of fiv tims and givs th rcipint th opportunity to acknowldg ach tim. If at th nd of th last attmpt thr is still no acknowldgmnt, th display shows NO REPLY and th spch diallr stops attmpting to snd. 4. You can abort th tst call at any tim by prssing ^. Th display thn shows. Rpat th tst call for phrass, C and D. Rpat th tst calls whn you chang th sttings. Thr-way calling / blockad claring Th thr-way call is only rquird for oldr tlphon systms in Grat ritain. In othr countris th SD1+ is up-circuit to all othr tlphon trminals. In th vnt of an alarm, th SD1+ intrrupts any currnt tlphon calls on down-circuit trminals to b abl to initiat an alarm call. An incoming call is answrd in th vnt of an alarm and dialling th alarm numbrs bgins. This function is a kind of blockad claring and incrass manipulation scurity. During an activ alarm call th display is lockd. Thr is on xcption to this: alarm abort is programmd to abort with PASSCODE. 24

25 Display mssags in normal opration PLEASE RECORD Whn th unit is powrd up th first tim, it must b initialisd. Aftr that th alarm numbrs and mssags can b programmd. SD1+ AORTED This is th stand-by mod display. It appars onc th unit has bn initialisd and programmd and during an alarm call. If this displays vn though you hav carrid out a factory rst (s Installation Instructions), contact your supplir for tchnical support. This display indicats that th alarm call was abortd by th usr whil th unit was attmpting to mak an alarm call. RINGING ENGAGED UNOTAIN SENT OK NO REPLY Display mssags in tst mod Th SD1+ has dtctd a ringing ton. This function is not availabl in all countris. Th intndd rcipint s lin is busy. Th SD1+ again attmpts to stablish a connction. Th rcipint tlphon trminal is not compatibl. It is a diffrnt kind of tlphon dvic (.g. fax machin). Chck th alarm phon numbr. This function is not availabl in all countris. Transmission of th alarm was succssful and acknowldgd by th rcipint. Th alarm call was not answrd or not acknowldgd by th rcipint. 25

26 Troublshooting Problm Caus Rmdy Problm Th rcipint acknowldgs th alarm call, but thn th SD1+ dials th scond, third and fourth phon numbrs. Th acknowldgmnt option is st to ANY-2 or ANY-3 or ALL-4.
