2 About UPnP Forum UPnP Forum is an industry initiative whose goas are to aow devices to connect seamessy and to simpify network impementation in the home and corporate environments. A member-based Steering Committee provides Forum eadership and business direction, whie severa technica working committees identify and define UPnP services, device contro protocos (DCPs) and usage scenarios. UPnP Forum members incude more than 1000 eading companies in connected devices. These companies are providing products in computing, printing, networking, consumer eectronics, home appiances, automation, contro, security, and mobie products. 3 About UPnP Technoogy The UPnP architecture offers pervasive peer-to-peer network connectivity between PCs of a form factors, inteigent appiances, and wireess devices. The UPnP architecture is a distributed, open networking architecture that everages TCP/IP and the Web to enabe seamess proximity networking in addition to contro and data transfer among networked devices in the home, office, and everywhere in between. UPnP technoogy targets home networks, proximity networks and networks in sma businesses and commercia buidings. It enabes data communication between any two devices under the command of any contro device on the network. UPnP technoogy is independent of any particuar operating system, programming anguage, or network technoogy. UPnP+ enhances the UPnP experience so that any device can securey interact anywhere. 5 UPnP+, the Coud and IOT UPnP+ Coud is buit on mature technoogy (UPnP, Internet Protocos, XMPP...) that caters to tomorrow s connectivity requirements, removing boundaries and enabing fu device and network compatibiity. UPnP Forum s atest activities accommodate Coud deveopments and bridge distinct protocos. UPnP+ provides a soid, future-proof basis for integration of Coud content and services. One important and fast-growing user requirement is accessing devices from remote ocations, often using a mobie device. Home connectivity from outside the home (or workpace) aows for the deveopment of new integrated capabiities, use cases and business modes. UPnP Forum has created a strategy around using new and existing UPnP device contro protocos (DCPs) and UPnP architecture enhancements in order to provide UPnP protocos specificay for IoT appications. It aows a company to use the UPnP Certification Mark in conjunction with certified devices, informing consumers that the device meets UPnP Forum standards. The process for certifying a device with UPnP Forum is simpe and straight-forward. Six steps to Certification: 1. Become a UPnP Forum Impementer Member ($5000 annuay). 2. Access the certification test too 3. Run the test too at your own faciity or at a 3rd party test house. 4. Submit the test ogs, aong with Web-based device registration form to upnpadmin@forum.upnp.com. 5. Once you have submitted the test ogs and device registration forms, the Test Reviewer reviews the test ogs and contacts you with testing resuts. The review may require up to five (5) working days; however, 2 working days is our goa. 6. If the device passes, your company receives a certificate of conformity for that particuar device. The certificate authorizes your company to use the certification mark on the certified device and in associated marketing materia.
